^^I've noticed that crowds simmer down a lot in late October. I've been to the last three Halloween weekends and the park ranges from mild crowds to dead (no pun intended). I think it's mostly due to the colder temperatures, but with nice weather and a holiday weekend coming up, I'd anticipate crowds for now.

Once when I was working at Thunderbolt at SFNE, I was checking restraints in the train when I catch something out of the corner of my eye. Out on the midway, I see a man holding up a 6 ft wooden pole with a camcorder duct taped to the pole; and the camera was pointed right at the station activity. I have no clue how he managed to get such a tall pole in or why he was filming us? I don't even know where he came from or if that's even "GP"!

I partially disagree with you about it being terrible. Despite it claiming to be a ride, it's just a special effects show and a pretty impressive one at that. With Shrek and Jimmy Neutron (well...for now) next door, it's nice to be able to watch physical effects before you rather than a screen. Ergo, I never pass it up whenever I visit (plus, I love the first time viewers reaction to the floor dropping). However, I must agree that it is getting dated and I wouldn't mind it retiring as long as there is something just as impressive to replace it with.
