That whole page was disgusting. Definitely wasn't a "victim" in all this. But, of course, he deserved a retarded desk job at some firm in Iowa (even more desolate) where all the women at work are ugly, but he certainly did deserve death. As for parents, the thing the page says about the parents is that they really didn't moniter him that close. Are they a fault? No. But could they maybe have helped prevent? Perhaps.

I'm actually very serious. It's more the risk and unknown factor. Maybe the consequences are different, but they all were dealing with the same thing, a teen trying to be God (wow, kinda sad if he was a Christian ). He could have easily have missed that train or have been successful in touching somebody's foot and only maybe breaking an arm. I see also where you are coming from, and you are right that, for the most part, there is no comparison though.

If you really think about it, this really wasn't that much more stupid than having pre-marital sex, smoking a joint, or even speeding, for all have their risks that are pretty well known. Teens just want that adrenaline high and will do stupid thing. This was just an unusual (and sad) incident where a teen wanted to make himself Superman by whatever means possible.

^ It all comes full circle. They need to advertise better and emphasize the Magic Mountain more than Six Flags part. Especially, they need to get rid of the mass produced cram and stuff commercials they have that use coasters from every Six Flags park. That is definitely a way where Cedar Fair does a little better, for they put the emphasis on the individual park, not on the entire company. And I am getting really freaking annoyed arguing with people that SFMM is NOT closing. I let them ponder on why Six Flags just spent 10 million dollars refurbing X(2) and more adding Thomas Town and freshening up the park, and would still sell the park. I think, like Disney did Mike Eisner, Six Flags needs to give Shapiro the boot.

Since everyone keeps yelling at me at the SFMM thread, can someone please show me official news that SFMM is getting a GCI. I believe you all, but I want to see the artcile for myself. I've looked through this thread and have not found a link or a quote. I think more people than me would want that confirmation as well.

Getting stuck on a ride!
Rollerman87 replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been stuck at the brakes right before the station on Colossus. It was only maybe five minutes, but I was with my church group and the guy I was riding with and I were running a tad bit late for the bus. (Shoulda just got off Colossus and jumped the fence nears Scream ) The worst part was the guy I was riding with is so annoying and he just kept talking. 5 minutes felt like 20. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Rollerman87 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Goliath at SFMM last weekend. Front row too. -
As my first big ride was Goliath, that's what I would suggest. Of course, middle row. If you think about it, the height is intimidating, but the ride is actaully very tame, with a smaple of airtime and hard g's. If Knott's is the place, then I suggest, like everyone else, Silver Bullet. A good smooth B&M that offers the illusion of adrenaline without actually being terrifying. If that doesn't work out dump him and get a real man. I'm open JK, but seriously, you need a guy who will ride all those crazy things with you.

^Isn't having a hollow spine also more cost effective. It's that much less steel they need to use for the coaster. And specifically for the SLC, I went on Thunderhawk at (the now defunct) Geauga Lake and it rode desecnt, but it was also my first time. I can see how the new trains will help in certain aspects, but I wonder if Vekoma did look at the wheel assemblies too.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Rollerman87 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is so wrong, but so funny -
Honestly, with all the buzz, it makes me really, truly sick to my stomach. With this, the family will sue. When that happens, Shapiro will be in ddep crap trying to make the parks family friendly with a nonexistent budget. Poor SFMM might have it the worst, only because we already have a bad rep. So much Six Flags getting their overall rep back. See, this is where companies like Six Flags, Cedar Fair, and Disney need to team up for a brief second and truly expose this crap. This lawsuit will have major side effects on Cedar Fair as well.

One other thing people overlook with any park period is the rpice for food and drinks. I mean, 3.25 for a Coke is rediculous. Usually, a teen is more likely to pay that price for a drink than a family is. Everything in the park is overpriced. People go down the hill for food because, in all honesty, they have to. I mean, I went to SFMM a few weeks ago, and spent $20 on a combo meal and a large bottle of water, and that was with my pass coupon to get a large soft drink. I'll be curios too, what the new area they're building will do to the revenue of the park. If there is food there, then Six Flags may receive even less money, for the food will probably be a little cheaper. But, then again, I forget if SFMM is tied in with that new area at all. I mean to say if they will receive any profit from it. EDIT- 30th post! A tiny bit closer to my personalized subtitle

Along a prayer of sympathy, I pray that the family sees what we all see, and what hopefully the country sees, and does not throw this onto the park and sue. Honestly, if that boy was Christian, and his family as well, the right thing to do would be to not sue. But, I guess we'll see where their morals lie and where their faith really stands.

Oh, so there is a new train on Batman. I was wondering. I had seen how shiny and yellow the seats to one of the trains were, and I thought just a refurb or something. Well cool. I wish with Thomas Town that they'd expand it a bit. That's one of the reasons nobody is really in it. There's two rides and a tiny splash area. I can't really see a family staying there an entire day. But hey, again, let's wait until the new coaster and then see what the park does with the family aspect of the park.

Photo TR: Geauga Lake (6-16-08)
Rollerman87 replied to TopThrill182's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow, even though I hated this park the one time I came, this report brings a tear to my eye. Sad thing is, it really doesn't look that much different though. And, since I had only gone there once, such pics as the Hurricane Harbor ones are completely new sights to me. I hope that CF can at leats make a good water park with the land they now have at their disposal. These pics (and captions) also show where Six Flags and Cedar fair each have their pros and cons. Definitely two unique companies. -
I have Thrillnetwork an my homepage, and just read the report. It is sad to hear about this tragedy and how it will affect everyone. Not only will the Six Flags company have an even harder time becoming that "family friendly" chain as Shapiro wants, but the family, friend, and riders involved will have to live with such a tramatic event. Honestly, if I were to be riding Batman or Silver Bullet and that'd happen to my train, it might be enough to keep me off inverts... at least for quite awhile. But as for the stupidity of the kid, wow. It's sad, but we've seen that stupidity with such threads as "Weirdest things GP has ever said." I just really hope Six Flags doesn't get screwed in all this. And this was totally uncalled for. This is a group of teenagers who decided to be stupid, and happened to be with a church group. Your religion, ethnicity, sex, age, etc., has nothing to do with behavior. I can tell you from experience that religion has nothing to do with behvaior, for I have been with a Christian friends who are stupid and ones who aren't at parks. I have also been with non-Christian friends who behaved poorly, and some who've behaved great. Watch who you point fingers at. Thank you.

^Everything you said was perfectly true. The park really is slowly trying to bring back families. I think they will try that push when the new coaster comes. Since it will be more family friendly, they'll be able to advertise the park as an intermediate park, with thrills for the big people and fun for the little ones as well. ^^As for the 70's theme, not really seeing how it'd help. I mean, that era is done. What they did with Revolution was great, and really brought a piece of history back, but to do even a whole section of "70's era" stuff would seem out of place. It's better how they're kinda bringing the old vibe back to some of the rides with a contemporary feel as well.
