  1. Looking good.....however..... Looking like a sexy 200ft Log Flume
  2. Meet Eva, our 4 1/2 month old Miniature Long-Haired Black and Tan Dachshund Hide! Dads got the camera out again!! Meeting Slinky Dog at Christmas for the first time Not Impressed!!!
  3. Confused by this!? How even though the ride footprint will not go anywhere near this (I could partially understand Enterprise being closed as it is next to the site) But not Submission, how is that even affected, as the entrance for it is past Oblivion?! Alton are weird sometimes! I don't see what is weird at all about closing both of them and removing them while work is going on. It allows easy placement for track storage, site offices, plant machinery etc. Also it can allow the park to remove submission and do some much needed TLC on the ride. It wouldn't surprised me if Submission didn't return. All the article says is that the rides would be closed, not removed....this is why I am confused, if they are there why not open them?!

  5. Would have thought they are talking about the WaterSplash, although I would have thought that sort of thing would have been set off from sensors on the track rather than a timed system? The ride will get faster people, it was the very first run, those bearings in its wheels have never known what it is to go 60mph, give them a chance to loosen up!
  6. Looking good!! Can't wait to ride this thing! On another note.....we have B&M Roar! Thought this puppy was sand filled?
  7. Great video, I only wish a lot more parks would post interesting little videos like this during the off-season! Props to Holiday World. Now get them Timberliners working!!!!!!!
  8. Been having a rethink about this, cause something just didn't add up with the track style and maurer......there is a small chance that completely out of leftfield (looking at good capacity etc.... and track style) a newer design Vekoma coaster maybe?! Looking at Battlestar in another thread, the track looks identical, and looking at some of their recent models (Their Stingray Model for example, and even some of the elements on Battlestar) Vekoma are capable of producing a compact ride. I am not as confident on this one as Maurer, but looking at the track design specifically, this could be very interesting!
  9. I have to say, I really like this one, however, the logo is waaaaayyy too big, with a normal header, I think this design is functional, yet modern. Although I would also move Announcements up to above the video. I was going to do an idea as I did used to be involved with web design, however most of the ideas I had have already been done and after staring at Photoshop for a good hour the other night, I realised that I have almost entirely forgotten how to use it!!!!! I really must brush up my skills.
  10. Which stealth planes have you been looking at?!! They are all black! Although I must admit, I'm looking forward to seeing this complete! And coming from the UK, its nice to see a coaster that isn't dull grey (gray) being built this year!
  11. So, with these helium filled evil sharks of death, do you just get the one go with them, or can they be refilled????
  12. We have trains on site with pictures!!! Thanks to The Swarm Developers Diary on Facebook
  13. The crew of Jaws: The Ride made a short film recently which tells the story of the ride from an entirely different perspective... Enjoy!
  14. ^ Its not concept art.....its the official submitted plans to the local planning office, if it has tubular track in the plans, it will have tubular track in reality, just take a look at the Swarm plans, identical to reality, things work a bit differently in Uk then in USA, we have to issue plans that then become available for the public to see.
  15. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and call a Maurer Sohne X Coaster with a vertical lift similar to Rip Ride Rockit based on a few things....... Newer Gerstlauer Lift Hill Older Gerstlauer Lift Hill However, look at Rip Ride Rockit The Latticework of the lift is the bit I am looking at, I know that Rip Ride Rockit has slightly bulkier supports due to the height, but Maurer would use a similar structure I would have thought if they were to do a vertical lift again. But due to height they would tone down the amount of extras. Now we have a section of the plans above which pretty much matches the lattice work of RRR, and is totally different to the Gerstlauer Lifts, tie that in with the fact the plans show a tubular backbone (Exactly like RRR) and I think we have a match, I am going to say that for Capacity Alton may also use a moving walkway for the station. For those of you that want to just reply "But it says in the plans - Noise from the planned new coaster was modelled based on a similar one located at Thorpe Park. The Thorpe Park ride, “Saw” is the same type and manufacturer as the proposed ride, including a “beyond vertical” drop." Think about this, in the Th13teen Noise report, they commented that noise readings were taking from a similar coaster at Thorpe Park, this coaster was X:\No Way Out, not even a similar coaster. I realise that the report says "Saw is the same type and manufacturer as the proposed ride" However, it also states that the proposed ride includes a "Beyond Vertical" Drop. Now, looking at the plans, there is clearly no Beyond Vertical Drop, not even a Vertical Drop. I know there will be a small dark ride section (I am assuming here, by the size of the station) However, look at the size of the Saw station building, they only managed a very very small vertical drop, not a beyond vertical drop inside. I do believe that there might be a small amount of misdirection in this report, as The manufacturer does not need to be mentioned in a noise report, they were just using this as an example. Please exuse my ramblings, I have probably gone on for far too long, but I'm tired
  16. I would agree with the above, it looks more like a Maurer Sohne coaster than a Gerstlauer, have Gerstlauer even built a coaster with tubular backbone before?
  17. I'm pretty sure a lot of rides do this. Very true, however, none are themed to an upturned Caravan
  18. From all of the Alton Towers websites out there It would appear to be an indoor drop tower similar to Extremis at London Dungeons, should be interesting, but just hoping the whole story keeps going and they don't ruin it!
  19. We have a trailer! Article from LA Times: Nemesis: Sub-Terra ride set to open in 2012 at Britain's Alton Towers January 01, 2012|By Brady MacDonald | Los Angeles Times staff writer A new indoor dark ride debuting in 2012 at Britain's Alton Towers theme park promises to be a psychologically terrifying and physically thrilling experience set in the secret underground catacomb of an alien creature. Dubbed Nemesis: Sub-Terra, the new ride is based on the original back-story for the 1994 Nemesis inverted roller coaster that travels over a river of blood. The Nemesis legend tells of a brooding and unpredictable extraterrestrial discovered during an excavation and worshipped by a cult.

  21. Twister - Grona Lund.....That is all
  22. I am pretty sure that the 747 doesn't have the upturned wingtips...... Discussion on other forums has reported that the whole plane was bought as one in scrap form and is an Boeing 737, it looks as though Merlin Studios have moved the engine mounts as this is a single engine wing and would never have an engine that close to the wing tip. It looks incredible though, I cannot wait for opening day!!! As a current plane spotter... and avid Airliner enthusiast, the plane is a 737-300. The wing is faux, and the engines are basically models- and not the real thing: Engines, unlike airframes, can be renovated often- and while the plane's life is over, the engines will live on for longer than the plane itself. As for the 747's upturned wingtips: Both the 747-400 and 747-400F have Winglets- similar to the B737NG series of planes (The 737-700-900ER) HOWEVER, they are not the blended winglets that you'd find on the 737/757/767 models. In all, they've done a pretty decent job of 'faking' a plane crash, granted, the wing is a bit undersized compared to that of a 'real' 747. R.D. Respect for knowing all of that!!!!
  23. Piers, you are 100% correct, it really doesn't matter, but as it was annoying Gerstlauer1, I thought I would put his worries aside! What aspect of it looks boring to you?
