  1. I asked the same thing with the dug up area around Deja Vu. But it actually makes more sense that they put the ride there, as the right side of the park does need more rides and that area is the more family friendly area of the park. For Sierra Falls, why don't they just move it to Hurricane Harbor?
  2. Well yes, that would be the assumption at places like Disney and Universal but, from what I have read, it doesn't sound like Magic Mountain does much for the holidays so I would assume that most families would go to one of those parks. Also, I got the chance to ride Deja Vu at Great America back in the day so i'm all set in that department. If I'm not mistaken, SFMM does the Toys for Tots thing (or something like that) for Christmas.
  3. Given that Christmas time usually means a two week break for most Ventura and L.A. county schools, it might be better if you visit on a weekday, especially if you are looking to ride everything but Deja Vu since it will be closed until spring.
  4. F14rteen, The Most Terrifyingly Psychologically Damaging Ride Ever Created
  5. You know, if its not a name, its a paint job. I know you guys aren't flaming the paint job like people are flaming Cheetah Hunt, but I don't think the GP is that dumb enough to think Green Lantern and Riddler's Revenge are the same coaster based on the paint. I don't mean to complain about it or anything, but come on. Both look cool in green and black.
  6. So now we have Six Flags is painting everything green, while Cedar Fair is painting everything red
  7. But if they did the entire park would just explode from the ride's unworthiness of being called Chuck Norris the Ride! Unless Chuck Norris himself calls it that. Then it would become the most epic of all roller coasters in existence
  8. Probably around May, when schools start summer vacation and the park gets a little more popular.
  9. I personally completely respect that. But there are things that people who share your opinion about the ride that I do not think they understand completely. First off, the Busch Gardens and Sea World parks have always been about animal conservation and combining the beauty of the creatures of Earth with the thrills of an amusement park ride. Why do people seem to think this ride's name is contradictory to the goal of the parks? Secondly, it's a ride themed to the fastest land animal. That doesn't exactly leave a wide selection of names to begin with. Theming to animals is different than theming to things like ancient civilizations, anything science fiction related, etc., which do give you a wide margin of names to pick and stories to make up that fit the ride. I just hope that at least conveys the reasons for my opinion, if not other's, about the ride's name. Plus, at least it's not a generic name and has a theme. I'd choose Cheetah Hunt over names like Scream!, Flight Deck, and many of the other, extremely generic and boring names for rides out there.
  10. Holy Mother of non-Intamin cables Batman! ...this thing doesn't have the infamous Intamin cable right?
  11. ^ I doubt they'll put any effort into making Scream! a better ride anytime soon, if at all.
  12. ^Or just as many flat rides But wait, they haven't heard of flat rides....
  13. ^Agreed. 2011 is just going to be a relatively quiet year, with the only big attractions coming to Busch Gardens and Knight Valley. It's nice though that many parks in the Six Flags and Cedar Fair chains are getting some nice, simple and inexpensive attractions.
  14. Doesn't it have anti-rollback fins to keep it from colliding with a train in the station?
  15. Maybe if ye old Wizard drinks enough beer, A star flyer will magically appear! http://screamscape.com/html/six_flags_magic_mountain.htm
  16. Here's a review of Tower of Terror with the new restraint system and the verdict is good. http://www.rickupsidedown.com/?page_id=700 The New Vehicle; The seats in the vehicle are very comfy and the bucket headrest makes for a comfy ride. The 4-4-4-2 configuration works well with very few empty seats due to the even numbers in each row. My only criticism of the vehicle is that if you’re in the rear rows – you won’t see very much as Intamin hasn’t incorporated their tiered seating into the vehicle. Also, this seems to be a hot topic at the moment so I will mention it quickly – the harnesses are very accommodating to larger riders. I’m quite a big guy and there was plenty of slack in the seat belt. The OTSRs don’t cause any discomfort and don’t hamper the floating sensation on the tower. The Launch/Speed; The launching was pretty consistent all night with the vehicle stalling around 10ft from the top brakes – so a much improved launch. The launch also feels much more fluid than it did before. On the old TOT it often felt as if there were two bursts of energy – but that has now gone and the launch is pretty much taken all in one movement.
  17. Just FYI to anyone visiting the park for the next few months, Deja Vu will indeed be closed until Spring 2011. Anyways, has anyone seen the new trains on Superman yet?
  18. Maybe they might be continuing work on Mr Six's DanceCoaster? I know it won't go vertical for another couple months, but maybe it'll be like what they did when Terminator was going up.
  19. ^Can't find the source, but you're probably right in what I said being inaccurate. But still, does it really matter if Superman has OSTRs? I would think everyone involved in the refurbishment of Sup considered comfortability as a factor for the new train designs...
  20. ^ Last I checked, California law stated that any modifications made to a ride's train required it to have OTSRs installed. So unless I'm wrong and the rule only applies to rides with inversions, as in Revolution's case, why does it matter whether Superman has OSTRs or not? Its going to get them anyway, so don't you think they've would have considered comfortability in the process?
  21. I agree with EBL, a Zac Spin is too much like X2. SFDK is a park that I would see getting a Zac Spin as a new coaster. As for the new coaster, my money's also on a Eurofighter. Hopefully it'll be a better themed Dark Knight (if that's its name) than its counterparts at the other SF parks?
  22. Same could be said of Knott's when they built Silver Bullet. Maliboomer would be a great addition to SFMM. Disney is eager to get rid of it and Thrill Shot at SFMM hardly runs and is rumored to remove it anyway. All SFMM would need to do is remove Thrill Shot, buy Maliboomer for a cheaper price rather than buying a brand new one from S&S, and re-name it, and boom, SFMM gets a much needed non-coaster thrill ride. We've all been saying SFMM needs a drop tower, so why complain about its height, program, etc.?
  23. To be honest, what's so exciting about having Superman's trains reversed? Deja Vu pretty much does that, albeit on a smaller tower. I'd only find the backwards train idea exciting if the train all the way to the top of the tower at least.
  24. I've waited at least three hours for X2 once. Well worth it, especially if you have a season pass
