  1. Spotted some cranes out by Goliath earlier today. They didn't seem close enough to Superman (I think one of the cranes was next to turnaround while the other was closer to the midcourse brakes), so I don't think they were doing any work on the tower for Lex Luther, although at one point I could have sworn I saw what looked like a roller coaster car (or a drop tower car) being lifted. Maybe Goliath valleyed intentionally ? Anyone know more?
  2. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. Remember, its only been open for a few months, and unlike most of the park's major coasters, which you can very clearly see from a distance and throughout most of the park, Green Lantern has the misfortune of blending in with Riddler. And come summer, the lines are probably going to get quite long, especially with its low capacity and location close to Batman, which is usually the most popular ride in that corner of the park.
  3. It really seems like Green Lantern was just another Goliath....just an unremarkable ride that fell short of its potential for the pure sake of briefly claiming a record the park no longer holds for the time being. Perhaps as time goes on the park will allow the ride to spin more and more...
  4. ^You walk right by it when climbing the hill towards Samurai Summit from Cyclone Bay I believe.
  5. Anyways, back to speculating on LJ's replacement and construction for Lex Luthor Just out of curiosity, am I the only one hoping for/expecting a Verbolten or Cheetah Hunt style of launched coaster (multiple launches, one to, say, take riders over Superman and the other side of the mountain, and a second launch for the return journey) or a Eurofighter for LJ's spot?
  6. I think you mistook Robb as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm as proud as any American of my country and the people willing to lay down their lives for her, but it's not really necessary to defend us over roller coasters...because they're just roller coasters, which most of the GP are wimps at, more due to a ride's elements than anything that would make the ride actually dangerous, and judging from the videos Robb as shot all over the world, there certainly seem to be some truly unsafe rides out there! I can't tell you how many times my friends who don't frequent SFMM were terrified of X2 or Superman, and that they only got on Tatsu because they didn't know that one of the aspects of a flying coaster meant that riders face the ground, with nothing but the restraints holding them.
  7. I meant to ask this earlier, and Screamscape just reported this, but as I passed by the park earlier today, I spotted a large crane by Thrill Shot. Does anyone know if they're finally taking it down?
  8. ^^^&^^^^ Well, Goliath does have that tunnel at the end of the first drop. Maybe that counts as theming as well?
  9. It's not a matter of whether or not they can theme a ride, its a matter of if they will. The park does have five themed coasters: Green Lantern, Batman The Ride, Goliath, Apocalypse, and Superman, so they are quite capable of theming a ride, and if I recall correctly one of the higher Six Flags officials did say that theming was important and that we should start expecting new attractions to have at least some theming. But of course, theming costs money, so there is no guarantee that the ride will be themed at all. I would personally love a well themed coaster sitting in LJ's spot (or anywhere in the park for that matter), but I can't expect too much from Six Flags now can I? ^That depends. There is plenty of room next to Viper for a Giga, and they could very well remove Viper to make more room for one if they needed to/wanted to.
  10. ^Just out of curiosity, when was SFMM 'off-track'? O.o
  11. To kind of point out the obvious, she didn't say which park Log Jammer has plenty of room for a good sized coaster, so as was said earlier, its more than likely that the Metro is being torn down simply because they are in that area anyways. And to be honest, Hurricane Harbor could make better use of that land than the Mountain.
  12. Probably not, but given that the park has surprised us by adding attractions we didn't really think they would (a ZacSpin, drop tower on the sides of Superman), anything is possible.
  13. I must be the only one thinks Colossus doesn't need the Texas Giant treatment
  14. ^I wouldn't expect the park to be too popular, as with Christmas finally over most people probably wouldn't be very eager to spend another $50-$60 per person just to get into the park. But with it being the last week of winter break for most schools, I wouldn't expect the park to be completely dead, even on a Monday. I'm very intrigued as to what they'll do, considering the existing structure doesn't seem to be perfectly vertical. I'm also quite curious to see what they'll do. Obviously it can be done, otherwise they wouldn't use the existing structure, but nonetheless, it'll be interesting. Besides, didn't it take the various Windseekers three or four months to go up (including the pouring of its footer/foundation)? I can't imagine it takes long for any tower ride to go up, and given that most of the existing structure LL: DoD will use is already up and requires relatively minimal changes, it would probably take less then half that time to set up.
  15. That wouldn't have bothered me. Its just for me and yes I KNOW I should be grateful for any coaster we are ever given on this earth. I really do. Its just to me Intamin is losing its touch, just my opinion, where companies like Premier and Zamperla are jumping into the "Big" Leagues and making big boy toys. What I meant was its not like Leviathan. At least Skyrush, relative to the terrain and land it has to fit in, seems to me like it makes better use of its height imo. Leviathan...not so much, at least not in my opinion. That long brake run could have at least been cut in half to make way for a few more hills and/or turns. But I've never been to Canada's Wonderland, so idk how much land the ride is actually going to take up, and maybe B&M decided to play it safe with their new design. Anywho, getting back on subject...
  16. ^^^At least this coaster isn't 300ft tall!
  17. ^Don't you think they would have considered that? If Waterworld is staying, I highly doubt it'll cause much of an issue in regards to ruining the atmosphere of the area. Let's wait until we find out exactly where they're going to put WWoHP before we complain about the effect Waterworld will have on it :/
  18. Just because you don't find it funny doesn't mean others don't. What's wrong with having a little fun by making ridiculous speculations that of course we know aren't true? Then again, maybe they are building the world's first 500ft tall wooden dive machine aquatrax.... Either way, speculating on what will go in either LJ's spot or Deja Vu's is far more redundant. Let people have their fun.
  19. Drove by the park today, and from what I could see, most of the left half of the cobra roll on Deja Vu has been taken down.
  20. Deja Vu only has one train, so they don't really have a choice when it comes to closing it down for a few months. Same cannot be said for Apocalypse. Plus, why would they close two rides in the same corner of the park? I don't think guests go over there just to play the carnival game near Apoco's entrance or to shop at the ride's gift shop Better to wait an hour or so for a good ride than miss out on a good ride because its closed (unless the case is like with Deja Vu, where there isn't much of a choice for the park).
  21. http://www.latimes.com/travel/deals/themeparks/la-trb-six-flags-magic-mountain-green-lantern-06201102,0,5484884.story?track=rss&dlvrit=70653 Wonder what those last minute changes could be.
  22. I kinda disagree actually, I think the ride is fine as it is. If anything, GhostRider or Grizzly at CGA need the Texas Giant treatment more than Colossus right now :/
  23. ^^ I think Lance also said that there were some permit issues regarding the delayed construction of the ride.
