I was passing by the park today and saw what I thought to be the lift hill going up (and it was really late when I was driving by it). Have they even started to put up the bents for the lift hill when you were there Robb? because I think my eyes were fooling me. Edit: The first picture seems to have answered this already.

Based on SF's current financial situation, and the current ride selection at SFMM, here are the most probable available options I can think of, without knowing the general cost of each coaster (i'm casting aside current lawsuits with the designing firms): Intamin Mega-Lite: If its within budget limit B&M Dive Machine: If its within the budget limit, and it is the only option from B&M as we already have a hyper coaster and the other four types of B&M coasters. A better version of Pony Express Another GCI woodie I'd personnally would love to have a third woodie, with more space available for a better ride. Terminator is looking good already and its only just being built. A Vekoma motorbike Probably the least likely of these options, but its a possiblity.[/b]

Track Spottings!
coasterking2981 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ah Thanks. Now I must ponder why Shapiro wants to build a theme park and not a massive Hurricane Harbor, one that'll be open year-round in Dubai-that'll allow Six Flags to go all out and show that they can build better water parks too... Not that I dont think he's making bad decisions, since he's in charge we can all look forward to a better SF future -

SFI is not in the financial position to afford expensive rides from B&M at the present time. That's a bit contradictary (sp?) to what Shapiro wants for Six Flags Dubai. I dont understand why he would want rides on the scale of Nitro, X2, Kingda Ka, and El Toro when Six Flags is not in the best position to build them. If he meant on a thrill scale of those rides I can understand, but he didnt, Dubai must have given him a massive contract-speaking of which how much was the contract anyway? Anyway, getting back on the subject of this thread, anyone know of smaller US theme parks looking for a new ride? Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks seemed to have been ruled out, and the only other theme parks I can think of right now looking for a new ride is SeaWorld San Diego and maybe Universal Studios Hollywood. -

Well since a lot of people here think its a prototype I guess we can entertain the idea of B&M building their own version of X2, aka the "spinning" B&M someone posted earlier And I dont think I would be wrong in saying it wouldnt be the first time B&M has built their own, but much better, version of a ride design by another company. Inverted Coasters are pretty much smoother and all together better versions of a Vekoma SLC. -

I'm probably going to be wrong on this, but what about SeaWorld San Diego? Yeah, I know a B&M wouldnt be the first choice given the amount of space available, but I heard they were supposed to get a new coaster this year, but with the current Busch management problems the plans were put on hold. -
Yeah I just salivate at the possibilty of an Intamin Mega-Lite in between Riddler and Batman. No matter how improbable that sounds, I refuse to believe SFMM will never try Intamin again. They'll have to eventually A custom-made Mega-Lite would be a nice addition, and they've got just about every type of B&M coaster in existence, so an Intamin has got to come sooner or later. Cant wait to see Terminator when its finished

You just reminded me of an article that had been posted on the LA Times long before that interview, stating that SFMM was asked about getting SFNE's Dark Knight before it refused and instead wanted to build Terminator Salvation. Somehow I now get the feeling that's what'll come to us in 2010, for the reasons that its small enough to fit within the park and its another family attraction. Correct me if I'm wrong, but could The Dark Knight fit within the space once taken up by Flashback?

The Dump Thread
coasterking2981 replied to Thelegendarymatthew's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I had a random spur of the moment idea with this coaster....a launched Vekoma SLC (using the trains found on their superboomerrang coasters like Deja Vu). Since I dont have custom scenery yet I did with what scenery i could when i finished this ride then ultimately ditched it in favor of newer better custom made parks. Its name was Ghost Rider (the one from Marvel Comics). The station was inside an old western hotel/inn I made, with the launch section in flames as the train flew down the launch pad, kinda like the fiery trail Ghost Rider would leave behind him. http://s363.photobucket.com/albums/oo76/persianking44/?action=view¤t=Shot0001.jpg I ended up actually liking this design -
Grinchmas Comes to Universal Studios Hollywood!
coasterking2981 replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
That definitely looks fun for kids. Shows at least Universal still has some love for its Hollywood park. Have they mentioned what's going to happen to where the King Kong building used to be? I hear they are going to replace it with some new attraction, but I hope they rebuild it instead. Its simply a classic part of the Studio Tour. -
Six Flags owns a lot of land that sits behind the park. They wouldnt have to worry about room at all, they'd just simply expand the park boundaries. Cant say the same for Knott's though My hope is, if its a big thrilling coaster, that we'd get a B&M Dive Machine. If something a little more family friendly, then perhaps another GCI Woodie or something like Pony Express but a lot better.

Well I dont think it'll be rethemed, because like its been said before, why would they want to retheme one of the greatest steel coasters ever? And break the Superman chain in many Six Flags parks? If it IS going to be renamed though, they'll probably go with another Superman villain besides Lex Luther. Honestly, who wants to ride Lex Luther: The Ride? Kind of lame name for a great ride. However, something along Superman: Doomsday the Ride sounds much better for a Superman villain rename for the ride. I'm guessing the music and special effects will be exactly like X2's, or at least close since the idea was inspired by X2, so that makes the name further befit the ride. But only Six Flags and time will tell.

Thanks for the update Robb. They should have cement poured by Thanksgiving now that the rain is gone. Maybe they are renaming Goliath Terminator and going to call the new woodie Goliath after all! on a serious note though, why is the Goliath sign back there? Was it a discarded design for the ride's sign?
