  1. I love those pictures, Midgetman82!! I also have a TR from the event on Friday night. What I don't have in quality I make up for in quantity (hopefully?) and some descriptions of my experience of the mazes. I'm doing this thing now where I'm trying to keep them all in one thread, so here it is.
  2. At last year's King Louie's Winter Walkthrough event, I remember Ed Hart saying they had considered staying open in the season longer and running a Halloween event but didn't think they would do it because it wouldn't be cost effective to them, so I was psyched when I heard that Kentucky Kingdom was putting on a Halloween event. I made plans to attend on the opening night, and my coaster buddy, Adam, joined me. At the gates and ready to go! Adam had attended the Halloscream media day the night before and had done the haunts, but besides Kentucky Flyer (which he had ridden at that media day), he had never been on any of the coasters. Storm Chaser was going to be his #50th coaster, so we went there first. First train of the day, first row, and ready to go! Even though Storm Chaser was only running one train, there were no lines and the ride ops let us stay on as long as we wanted until someone came to our row, in which case we could just switch it up. We rode 5 times before deciding to hit up the other coasters. Next up was Thunder Run. Another KK coaster with surprising airtime! No lines! Second weather-themed coaster of the day The park had done some retracking since the last time I rode this, so the coaster was running much more smoothly. We even hit some surprising ejector air on some of the hills! After Thunder Run, Adam wanted to credit whore a little so you know where we went... Dirty dirty credit whores Not gonna lie, I've whored this before Train to ourselves! I knew what would be coming next, so I grabbed one of my free drinks and we headed to face the inevitable. Is it just me, or is this Mardi Gras man a little too happy to see us? His smile will never be the same after riding this coaster T3 will break you I should have chosen the bench instead I didn't think it was possible... but T3 was even worse than I imagined it would be. After the lift hill, it was all downhill from there. Seriously, T3 puts all SLCs to shame with how bad it is. The restraints make it impossible to brace, you end up sliding forward and wedging your legs in a horrible thigh crush, and the level of shakiness and roughness is unbearable. Not even joking, I hurt the rest of the day and into the next day from one ride on this thing. NEVER AGAIN. After riding that death trap, I needed a little break, so we looked at some of the Halloscream decorations. Each skeleton represents one of their two mazes: zombie for Zombie Wasteland! Even before dark, the park had scareactors wandering about and scaring people. They were actually quite good and got us a few times as we posed for pictures. Da Queen!! This sign is actually referring to the fact that you can get to T3 from here Wait, are we at WDW?? (Too soon?) Big a$$ chair do do doo-doo do do After not making it on America's Got Talent, Bernard found this gig What do you see, giant mardi head? AGHHH!!! (This was my favorite thing to pose with. The clown also got us good after this A must visit for any alkies This dude wanted to dissect me... kinky? It's alliiiivveeee! Did you get dissected too?? When we were ready to try rides again, we hit up Kentucky Flyer, the newest coaster at Kentucky Kingdom. New credit! Kentucky Flyer was the only coaster running two trains, but with smaller trains I definitely think it was necessary It's a smaller, family wooden coaster but packs a punch! There were some surprising mini-ejector airtime hills that even hurt my thighs a little, or was that just leftover pain from T3? Anyway, this coaster gets two thumbs up and I think it's a very nice addition to the park! Next, we hit up the ferris wheel to enjoy the view before heading over to the other side of the park. They won't let you use your phones on the wheel, so we had to enjoy the view the old fashioned way Ooooohh With the airport so close, you'll frequently see planes flying overhead We survived T3, so how much worse can the haunt be? If you've never ridden Lightning Run, then what are you waiting for? This coaster proves that you don't need record-breaking heights to make a fast, fun, and airtime-filled coaster! Lightning Run looks awesome at night! Cyclos was a solid "no" for me Night rides on this are the shizz!! After Lightning Run, I dragged Adam onto my favorite flat and then rode it twice more while he rode Cyclos. I still had a headache from T3 and didn't want to push my luck with another ride that would likely make it feel worse. My favorite flat! My evil look when I'm about to try and snap the shizz out of this thing (Spoiler: I got a few but nothing extreme) Next, we hit up "Drop Zone" (per the KI fanboy) which I think is the scariest drop tower I've ridden in recent years. Seriously, compared to Drop Zone and other drop towers I've been on, there is NO warning as to when this thing is going to drop, so the fall takes you especially off guard. We rode it twice, then headed for Friday the 13th, the "5D" Iwerks experience. Who doesn't love Jason Vorhees? There were some younger kids who were promptly ushered out by their parent after watching the gory pre-show video and realizing that PG-13 is a pretty loose rating for this ride We bout to get killed ***SPOILERS????*** I haven't seen the newest Friday the 13th, but I'm pretty sure this movie just took all the death scenes from that and added 3D, wind, and motion effects. I definitely prefer first-person 3D rides, but it was still a lot of fun. The best part about it was the guy dressed up as Jason who wandered around the theater scaring people. I love how they themed the gift shop! There's a scary animatronic in this picture We're gonna die laughing, but not until we get our final rides on Storm Chaser! With our last half hour of rides operation, we went to Storm Chaser for some night rides. This thing at night is bonkers! It didn't matter that it was only running one train all night, we still got 9 rides in! There were more people than in the first hour, but even with one-train op, we still got four rides in. I have to say, this was probably one of my craziest experiences on an RMC to date. I hope I'm not going to get anyone in trouble saying this, but the ride ops were letting us keep the lap bars up pretty high. Maybe I'm just used to Six Flags (and even CF parks) stapling us every chance they get, but it's been a while since I've ridden a coaster where the ride ops were all for giving you extra space in the lap bars for extra airtime. That, and given that Storm Chaser doesn't staple you so much during the ride (meaning the lap bars stayed relatively put during the ride cycle) we got some INSANE airtime moments. Seriously, even though the airtime isn't as intense as Steel Vengeance or some of the others, the extra lap bar space made a big difference. With the rides now closed (10:00), we then headed over to do the haunt stuff (open until 12). Time to get scared! But first: some zombie liquid courage Even waiting for your food, you're not safe from the scares! The Mardi-GRAVE dance party was a fun way to entertain the kids while their parents sipped drinks or went through the haunts. I thought this was a killer idea! First up, Die Laughing : A Clown Funeral Time to die laughing You can choose to enter through the vagina or through... the other entrance I'm always down for a good clown maze, and this one was definitely not short on the scares! You start by walking through a vagina (the maze attendants thought it was hilarious when I called it that) and ducking under some heads and body parts. It had some fresh ideas including one maze portion where some of the carnival flaps are exits and some are walls and you have to find your way out. There were chainsaws, scary animatronics, creepy clowns, and all sorts of macabre and creepy terrors! It made it even better that we didn't have to be part of a "conga-line" and basically walked through the entire maze on our own. That meant that all the scares were targeted for us, and we walked out feeling very thrilled with the experience. Last but not least, Zombie Wasteland! Let's get wasted! While another oft-repeated haunt maze theme is zombies, this maze had some fresh ideas as well! There were more heads and body parts to duck through, lots of scary animatronics (if you've never read a haunt TR from me, I'm TERRIFIED of animatronics), and at one part Adam and I got separated and the zombie followed behind me for a while. As with the clown maze, it was nice being the only ones going through and having all the scares to ourselves. Overall, even though there are only two mazes, don't let that deter you from visiting, because both mazes were very well done, IMO. I'd rather have two well done mazes that you can go through alone than 5-10 mediocre mazes, waiting 30min - 1 hour each, going through them in a "conga-line", and coming out feeling "meh" about the experience. Fair warning, though, if you have a season pass you'll have to pay $10 per maze. If you buy a Halloscream ticket, you'll get into each maze once. But don't let that stop you! Come out and support the park so they can continue doing this event year-after-year. I definitely recommend people visit KK this October, if anything for the night rides on Storm Chaser and Lightning Run. Thank you for reading!
  3. It wasn’t that they reserved the seats, but that the adjacent seats were not in commission that day. I’m not sure why that was. Given that they were relatively evenly spaced throughout the train (every three or 4 rows on the orange train) I almost wondered if it could have been a weight issue.
  4. For anyone interested, here is my trip report from our visit. I didn't participate in the Fright Fest stuff, but I did get some pictures of the theming and the park at night! Also, has Raging Bull removed trims since 2014? I remember my one or two 2014 rides on it being way more trimmed than our rides last weekend.
  5. Part II: SFGAm gets creepy Halloween is my favorite time of year (yes, Halloween is a time of year and not a specific day) so even though I did not do the mazes at SFGAm, I still reveled in the atmosphere of Fright Fest. The park got increasingly busy, so it was tougher for us to find rides that had <20-30 minutes of wait. American Eagle, Viper, Demon, and Whizzer were a few with manageable lines. Raging Bull had a moderately longer wait (30-40 ish) but we wanted to ride it at night so we waited anyway. One interesting note about Fright Fest: DILinator's kids were terrified of the scareactors but the scareactors did not seem to discriminate between scaring teens/adults and young children (I didn't see that as much at KI Haunt when we visited), so we avoided the scare zones as much as possible because of this. In the last hour or so of operation, I took a detour to check out one of the scare zones towards the back of the park. It had mysteriously cleared out as well as a few of the others moving toward the front of the park. Upon rejoining my group, we headed over to ride Mardi Gras Hangover and found where all the scareactors were. ALL of them had moved into the front areas of the park and were basically swarming everyone. There was nothing we could do except get the kids through as quickly as possible. However, as I mentioned, the scareactors did not seem to care or notice that the kids did not want to be scared. At one point, a scareactor was bothering DILinator's 13-year-old despite her huddling against me in fear, and I said to him, "Don't bother her, she's young!" After our hangover, I went to hit up the Joker and Goliath single rider lines one last time before closing. Apparently the scareactors had convened at the very front of the park and were scaring people exiting the park. DILinator has some funny stories about their "escape" that hopefully he will share here. Also, 3000th post on TPR!! I'd like to thank the people who helped make this possible: Spectrum, for fixing my internet after 4 hours on the phone; my career, for giving me no life; my parents, for birthing a hopeless nerd; all of you for encouraging me in my nerdy endeavors; and Robb, for not banning me for writing the worst puns. Here's to 3000 more! (Hey, a girl's gotta have goals, right?) Some of the costumes were so incredibly creepy and awesome American Eagle has been overtaken by Spiders. Goliath at night is awesome! Muwah ha ha! Okay... CGA needs to get their sh*t together because Demon with all the effects working is AWESOME!! Especially at night! Although the ride itself is a bit rough, the cool lights, music, and sound effects made it worth riding, for sure! How many parks are NOT more frickin awesome at night with fog?? Not the only Rolling Thunder that the storm's over for... I just noticed that it's car #13... heh. I didn't know what 90% of the rides were, but it was still cool to pay my respects I'm picking up what you dropped there, Great America! Don't put baby in the corner "They said 'Save the Whizzer' and Shockwave became chopped liver" "Iron Wolf: Couldn't stand it" xD Back to your regularly-scheduled spooky fest This was a very cool touch that locals should love! The park put together a cemetery of old, "dead" rides which even included some ride parts and signs Ohio?? Who says Six Flags has no theming? Here is Six Flags theming at Six Flags! I told the kids that Fright Fest theming consists 90% of rusty cars and barrels. One of the kids said "it's scary because you could get TB!!" Hey a barrel! And propane tanks! AHH super scary fire hazard! Praise be to Anton!! Or are we done with that joke now? This was about when the scareactors started swarming us "Would you like to play a game??" I'm also trying to establish whether there is an ideal side and row to get optimal flipping. So far I'm saying back row with a fat dude is ideal. Thoughts? One of these rides gave me a hangover and the other was a new credit for me... any guesses as to which was which? This was only my second Free-fly coaster, but these things are really growing on me! "You know it would be hilarious if someone popped out and grabbed you while you were taking that selfie?" Hahahaha so funny! O.O Most aptly named coaster at SFGAm is also the most lit. Pumpkin smash head says he is awakening the demons and spirits at Great America Has anyone told him Fright Fest is over for the night? The demons and spirits can go home to finish their homework before their high school math test on Monday. Goodbye SFGAm! Until next time!
  6. It's a nice event, IMO, but knowing you all I'm not sure if the 4-hour drive is worth it just to ride Timbers and the flats that are open. It wasn't too crowded but cold as FFFFFF on some of the days so I think that helped keep crowds out. There were some nice shows, the lights are pretty, the 12 Days of Christmas Train ride was nice, the skating looked fun (but it was crowded and an upcharge), and there were other things I didn't do that the kids might like (decorating cookies, for example). Timbers FL queue was changed to a single rider line, and even the regular line wasn't too long, so you can definitely marathon the sh*t out of it if that's what you want to do. Shameless plug, but here's my 2017 Winterfest TR.
  7. I'll probably have to split this into two posts because I took so many pictures. So, as promised, SFGAm!! My one and only previous trip to SFGAm had been in 2014. I went alone on a weekend (late summer or early fall, I can't remember exactly) and the park was decently busy. Goliath was new that year and I managed to snag three rides on it. It was my first RMC and blew me away, but now that I've ridden most of the North American RMCs, Goliath has fallen to the bottom of my list. Naturally, I was excited to ride Maxx Force, see how Goliath has held up in these 5 years, and catch the coasters I missed the first go around. I won't bore you with a long play-by-play of the day, but I'll mention some of the highlights: -Maxx Force was unbelievable! Great start to the day -Cold weather = shorter waits even on a Fright Fest Saturday. Except for Maxx Force, of course -Raging Bull is now Raging Cold -Speaking of Raging Bull, did they remove some trims since 2014? My ride in 2014 seemed way more trimmed than my ride last weekend. It's still one of my lesser-preferred hypers, but I appreciate it now way more than I did. -We found the cheat code for Goliath and Joker. Single rider line. Saved us an hour+ wait later in the day. We even got to ride in the front and back (not sure why it seemed like the back kept getting unfilled) and stick with our party a couple of times. One of the trains also had 3-4 rows that were single rider only. So that helped a lot as well. So... cheat code. Now you know. -Although Goliath is my least-favorite RMC, it's still the best coaster in the park, esp at night! -The Fright Fest stuff looked fun, but I wasn't going to spend $30 for the mazes and sacrifice more coaster rides. -Overall, a great return trip! I was able to do everything I wanted to do, including rerides on my favorites (besides Maxx Force) On to the photos! Gotta start the day out right! This is what I like to see! We had a train to ourselves (at least as far as the left side is concerned) Spoiler alert: X-Flight has gotten a bit rough in the back during the second half of the coaster. Not sure if it was just an off day for it or if this is the usual. Even the worst RMC is better than 90% of other coasters This looks familiar.... can't think of where I've seen it before The Flash??? Rode this later in the day. Hadn't had a chance on my first trip and I can confirm that it's now my favorite of the Batman clones Batman is still a fun and incredibly forceful ride, but it may or may not give you an aneurysm if you ride it in the back This has also gotten a bit rough. We rode towards the front. I still prefer my ex home park (SFDK's) mod version Next up: another new credit for Janae and one of the slowest moving lines complete with phone retrieval "short delay in operation." I can confirm that Six Flags still does not know how to operate a flying coaster efficiently. Am I at CGA? It's amazing how similar these parks look in some areas Don't eat corn syrup or this might be you "Whatever you do...don't...go in...the shed!!" I seem to remember Raging Bull being more "trimmy" the last time I rode it Raging Bull is hereby deemed "Raging Cold" Gotta love a B&M hyper! This was running great on my trip!! Definitely appreciate it more but... Diamondback is still better I love what they did with the place. Crack kills, kids Despite visiting CGA a fair amount in the past, this was actually my first time on any of the two-tiered carousels The views were great! And they slowed down the music to make it sound more creepy and in theme with Fright Fest For the carousel nerds. This carousel is gorgeous! Condor: a classic! Also my first time on one of these rides. We're here early and ready to go! MaX-X-X-X Force This inversion looks even more massive in person Oooh boy! Great hangtime here
  8. But even though the coaster is high off the ground, if the supports are sinking, I would imagine that could still cause problems. I'm just processing as well. I could be way off.
  9. I'll be there this Friday for their Halloween event! I'm so excited. If all goes well, Storm Chaser will be my friend's #50th coaster and he is beyond excited. I haven't been to the park while it's operating since Fall, 2016, so I'm excited for more Lightning Run and Storm Chaser rides (sans losing my keys ). One question: does the park accept online tickets pulled up on my phone or do I need to print my tickets? I couldn't figure it out online.
  10. I know I'm late to the party, but while I always complain about Vortex being my least favorite coaster at the park, I'm still shocked by this news. Not that I didn't think Vortex's lifespan would be coming to an end soon, I just didn't expect it quite so soon. How much truth is there to the rumor that Vortex is sinking? If that's true, I wonder if it reached a point where the choice was no longer up to KI but rather it has sunk enough that it is no longer deemed safe according to safety standards. While it isn't a huge loss to me, I know a lot of people who still love Vortex and will be devastated by its loss. I'll make sure to hit it up in its last days, with plenty of Ibuprofen on hand.
  11. This news honestly shocked me. In the middle of building their new international parks, I wouldn't have expected another big move from Six Flags this soon. But what do I know, this is why I'm not a businessperson. I'm not sure what "stock and trade" means, but with this being a merger of some sorts, I wonder if the changes wouldn't be so dramatic as some of us are assuming. I don't imagine that Six Flags is jumping at toning down Knott's Scary Farm given how successful it is, or dramatically messing with Cedar Point for the same reasons. However, this could be very good for parks like MIA that have been largely ignored by CF but might get some love with Six Flags influence. Overall, I guess there's nothing we can do but see what happens. I haven't heard that CF is doing particularly poorly, so I don't think they would move forward on this unless it could somehow be mutually beneficial.
  12. Someone could easily put together a shock piece about all the slide burns and bruises incurred at the City Museum and how it's a "rite of passage" and so dangerous, swaying sky bridges and rusty climbing bars, but we all know that would be ridiculous. Obviously I grew up no where near Action Park in era or location, so people like me only have the stories to go off of. The sensation makes for interesting and captivating reading and watching—"the most dangerous theme park in the world." I think exclusivity plays a role too. Most of us can't go experience it as it was back then, so all we can do is hear the stories told by the people who take pride in the fact that they did get a chance to experience it in its raw intensity and "lived to tell the story."
  13. I'm also going to the park with DILinator. It's been 5 years since I've been there. Goliath was open that year and it was my first RMC. I've since been on many others and Goliath has fallen down to the bottom of my list, but maybe a reride will remind me how much I liked it. I missed some coasters last time and of course the rides built in the last 5 years, so I'm excited to complete my Coasterdex for SFGAm (minus kiddie coasters). Can't wait to ride Maxx Force! Also, as always, say hi if you see us! I still have orange hair and I'm sure at least one, if not all, of us will be wearing coaster clothing so I'm sure we wont be hard to miss!
  14. I usually do the left-side coasters first (Joker, Superman, V2, Batman) but so do most other guests. The lines will clear out more when the mazes start and also closer to closing. However, the launch coasters and Joker tend to break down more and they don't always open with the park. When you walk up see what's testing and gauge it that way. Go to whatever is running. The park is smaller but maze lines can get a bit long so it might be tough to do everything in 5 hours. You could spring for the maze VIP if you really want to do them and that helps cut lines a bit for those. I don't think the maze pass works at all SF parks, just the one you got it for, but I could be wrong. Check it out on your membership portal and see if it says. I don't know any hotels but the area between SFDK and CGA (Vallejo and Oakland specifically and also parts of San Jose) isn't the best and you might want to think twice before jumping onto the first cheap hotel you find. Have you ever tried Air Bnb? You might be able to find some cheaper places that are better. But again, just be careful about the neighborhoods you book. Have fun! Take some pictures and let us know how it goes!
  15. Thank you! Yep, that's the song! I love how they mash up a bunch of songs and they seamlessly flow from one to the other. I wonder who built them? I can only imagine carving out those giant skulls or whatever they did. Would be a cool job to have! Thank you! There are definitely some sexy gentlemen in the show too, but I already had a ton of pictures and the best ones I got were of the women. I'll try to make more of a point to get some pictures of the men next time Next TR will either be Coney Island from a few weeks ago or SFGAm from this upcoming weekend. Stay tuned!
  16. I think you have a really great point here. I know there are plenty of people who would go to CP because of its reputation whether there is a new ride or not. In that case, current economics might be a better indicator to whether people will come or not. I don't think last year was the best year. You're right. A ton of people thought Steel Vengeance would still be rough because Mean Streak was rough. It was hard to explain to them the difference. I'm sure popularity has/will increase the more people ride it and tell their friends how it is. My only concern with Orion is that I'm already hearing GP comparing it to Diamondback, saying the park is basically just adding another Diamondback. Of course it'll get a lot of traffic from locals who would go to the park anyway, but I have no idea how it'll be received by people from further away. In general, I don't meet too many people in the park who come from further places than MI, OH, KY, and IN anyway. But I might be completely off base. Only time will tell. I intentionally avoid Saturdays (and work most Saturdays anyway) but I heard this last Saturday the parking line was backed up into the road within a few hours of opening. That's a really bad indication of how busy the park will be. Too bad none of the webcams are facing that way or you could use that to judge whether it's worth your time going. I can have my friends gauge it if they go this Saturday.
  17. Thank you! And I totally agree. I almost high-tailed it out of the Urgent Scare line several times. It uses the old Spongebob theater area and queue if you're familiar with that, so not too easy to run away, and the skunk was in between everyone waiting. It finally got out when it ran off to the side and the guests there bee-lined out of there faster than ACErs heading to a buffet. Imagine Stinky Enthusiasts getting skunked by Stinky Kitty And yes, KI is my favorite haunt event so far besides HHN and Knotts. Thank you! Honestly I almost made one a couple times and couldn't think of a thread title I liked, but I think this one is growing on me already. You should definitely make one too! I agree that it will help keep a personal TR library going. YES!! I don't know what the song is but that's basically what it's about. Seduction with science. Thank you! And I'll have my people contact your people and see if we can arrange Haunt #5
  18. You should have! Sorry if I saw you and didn't recognize you. I was meeting so many new people from their group that I just assumed I didn't know anyone.
  19. I went to KI Haunt on Friday. Check out my photo TR! Also, I took a few pics of Orion footers from the Field of Screams queue. Not much to see, but here you go. Ooo... dirt Not too much to see here For all your footer fetish needs OOOOOooooo This view will change dramatically by next year!
  20. Friday night was the first night of Kings Island Haunt! I arrived just in time for the opening ceremony and met up with a fellow coaster enthusiast. He's fairly new to the coaster enthusiast game and has gotten involved with a different YouTube coaster community, but maybe I'll be able to convince him to leave the dark side and come to the light side known as TPR. Or is it the other way around? It was pretty busy for a long time on Friday, and we were both pretty tired from work and took our time going around the park, so I didn't get to do as much as I would have wanted. Still, we had a good time and were able to ride Timbers, Banshee, and Beast at night as well as doing the Field of Screams, Blackout, Wolf Pack, Backwoods Bayou, Kill Mart, and C.H.A.O.S. mazes and see Haunted Homecoming. We waited for Urgent Scare but something must have happened because the line stopped moving and we ended up bailing. The scariest sights I saw all night were two skunks roaming around the park, including one that was chilling uncomfortably close to the Urgent Scare maze queue. Maybe that had something to do with it having a delay? Overall, Haunt was a ton of fun (as usual) and I can't wait to go back! On to some photos The Haunt Facade is always a welcome sight to see! The Haunt decor looks great during the day, but even better at night I'm assuming this is for the kiddie Halloween stuff, but still pretty cool! Rivertown Reaping was one of the new scare zones this year, though I don't think I went through it at all Pumpkin eater is still probably my favorite scare zone! So many pumpkins... Time for the opening ceremony! They did some creepy stuff and waved some flags for each of the haunts, then set the monsters free Even creeps give fist bumps Kings Island comes alive the darker it gets This view will change dramatically by next year! Field of Screams It's actually Ohio themed A wheelbarrow of feet? Are we eating the pumpkins or the pumpkins eating us? "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep..." AGHHH!! Spider!!! Haunted Homecoming is definitely worth a watch! If you're into sexy women, you won't be disappointed "SCIENCE!!" O.O I didn't watch Drums of the Dead, but they sounded nice as I walked past I love these giant skeletons! Even my non-enthusiast friend had a ton of fun at Haunt Snaaaekkkee! Snnnnnnnaaakkkeeee!! Well, I guess the shed is safe now Drop Tower got stuck here for a few minutes before being slowly lowered down. I guess you could say it was a let down for those guests. Come to the dark side! We have bad puns! What is scarier: Wolf Pack, or the dead bones of Son of Beast? Shipwrecked was a new scare zone this year There were some stunning sets for this zone In my opinion, Shipwrecked is definitely the most elaborate scare zone at KI this year Seriously, go out of your way to see some of this stuff You can even peek into the ship... just keep an eye out for whatever might be lurking behind you A scary clown carrying a scary clown... clownception?? Jack is still iconic to Haunt C.H.A.O.S. is a weird maze. You take some space drugs and then wander around with very few scare actors wondering what's supposed to be happening in this maze. Noted! I heard there might be some prime cut flesh on sale today Pumpkin Eater is really a-HEAD of the other scare zones in terms of theming Haunt tower scaring skeleton Haunt tower scaring skeleton scaring me Thank you all for reading, and get out to KI Haunt ASAP!
  21. This has been a long long time coming but I just hadn't done it. This will be my master thread of trip reports. If you're lucky, I might even dig back to find previous TRs and provide links on here for a lot of them going back and back. If you're really, really lucky, I might write TRs for big trips I did in the past but never got around making TRs for. Stay tuned for KI Haunt opening night TR! Thread archive: Cedar Point: Steel Vengeance First Rider Benefit Halloweekends 2017 Gravity Group Special Tour 2020 Kentucky Kingdom 2019 Halloscream 2017 Keys to the Kingdom (King Louie's Winter Walkthrough) Kings Island: Pass Preview / Opening Day, 2019 Haunt 2018 Winterfest 2017 Knott's Scary Farm 2015 Six Flags Great America Fright Fest 2019 Strickers Grove Labor Day 2017 Universal Studios Hollywood Horror Nights 2015
  22. Not to toot my own horn but this thread hasn't been the same since I moved out of the area. I visited the park pretty often and would make a point to post frequent updates and photo TRs. If you don't believe me, look back to 2015-summer 2016 for comparison. I've never understood why but other people just don't post photo TRs or updates about this park nearly as often as other parks even when there is construction and other things happening at SFDK. EDIT: I realize Joker construction did help keep the conversation/interest flow during that time, but this was happening even before that. I've been feeling that way too. Maybe there's just too many people moving over to Facebook feeling disinterested in online forums the more they surf on their phones rather than desktop/laptop computers.
  23. But would it have been advantageous for the chain? Remember that Cedar Fair isn't trying to make KI a destination park; it's doing just fine by drawing in locals. Remember, there's a 310 foot tall coaster 4 hours north... Who says KI isn't a destination park? I mean it's not CP but I would still consider it a destination park compared to a lot of others in the CF chain. I don't think non-enthusiasts/GP/whatever you want to call those people who don't care enough to spend their time arguing on an online forum about a ride that hasn't been built yet plan massive trips for one new coaster. Moreso I think nonenthusiasts would add a theme park to an already-planned trip if it looks interesting enough to spend the time and money doing that than doing something else in the area. KI is big enough and Cincy is boring enough that people will visit it regardless of 13 extra feet of coaster. They'll pass a billboard on the freeway and be like, "Hey, we should go there." And there are locals who will still get a pass and visit no matter what. I think the "problem" isn't that it's a rule-bending Giga or whatever but that people think the park is basically just putting in another version of Diamondback. I've already had several conversations with my nonenthusiast but coaster-liking friend who doesn't understand why KI is putting in a new coaster that looks just like Diamondback to her.
  24. Wow! That's quite a story. This isn't the same Oz park that was abandoned for a while, was it? Either way, it is a pretty creepy park to get trapped in. Glad you got out but boy, that would have been a story if you all were stuck inside overnight!
