That was my thought as well. That's a lot of hotels to be planning for a resort that doesn't even seem like is at capacity right now. If you read the text I put under the 'map / proposal', the new hotel development is apparently centred around a huge, new convention centre being built on DLRP property and not any additional theme park development. -

^^^ That is crazy! I've never seen crowds like that at DLP. Was there a special event taking place? -

Fantastic pictures! Its great to see this kind of thing wheeled out from the archives. Did you attend the Tony Baxter talk? -
Great news to hear that a classic attraction is getting a new injection of life rather than being torn down. Lots of dummies were hinting that the Chinese Theatre would be torn down once the hat was gone as part of the Hollywood Studios revamp. Removing the hat puts much more focus on this 'new' attraction as guests walk down Hollywood Boulevard. “Treasures From the Disney Vault” sounds very interesting, although I'm not sure if that will get an airing on TCM in the UK?

Thanks for update Kyle. Having only been to SeaWorld Orlando its great to see pics from the other parks. It seems really strange that there is no covered seating at Shamu Stadium (I find the fully enclosed pics of San Antonio creepy as hell ). Is that due to the weather? Could you see any signs of Blue World Project?

Disneyland Paris is potentially building.................. MORE HOTELS!!!! This image was taken at Serris City Hall on August 29th and seems to show a number of new hotels planned for Disneyland Paris. Disneyland Paris blueprint showing new hotels? This new development is apparently being called Phase IV (no idea what Phases I, II and III were) and is centred around a huge, new convention centre being built on DLRP property, which once complete would be the second largest in France. It looks like 1 hotel would be built on Lac Disney (directly across from the Sequoia Lodge), 1 built behind the Walt Disney Studios backlot area (could this potentially tie in with a new Marvel Land and have direct access to the park like the MiraCosta?) and then another 4 hotels on the currently un-used land which was earmarked for the 'Villages Nature / AquaLagoon' project that was announced years ago? Does Disneyland Paris need more hotels? I think not..... -

I totally agree on the maintenance side of things. I was there for 4 days in June and it was very sad to see the state of the whole resort. There were major works taking place at the Disneyland Hotel and Hotel New York. The condition of the The Newport Bay Club was disgusting and whole place looked like a construction site. There is no way it should ever have been allowed to get into such a state. I would compare Newport Bay Club to the Yacht and Beach Club hotels in Orlando, but they are worlds apart due to the complete lack of care taken in Paris. Lac Disney could be a 'buzzing' environment like the Boardwalk, but again lack of maintenance, investment and care have made this into a place that guests simply have to pass by to get to the parks. Where are the boats ferrying people to and from the Disney Village? Where are the food and drinks stands? Where is the live entertainment and street performers? Over half of the buildings in the Disney Village were either faded, had paint flaking off them or rusty signs on the front. The old main entrance gate had started to be taken down over 12 months before my visit, but part of it still stood there rusting away! Maintenance of the entire resort is essential before any 'dream' revamps or major addtions are added to the parks! I think I'm in a similar situation to you Andy. I live in the UK (20 minutes from Alton Towers), but I choose to visit Walt Disney World over Disneyland Paris eventhough it is much more expensive and inconvenient to do so. I would love to get an annual pass for DLP (its less than 3 hours from my front door), but I choose not to due the lack of maintenance and investment in the resort. -

It will be interesting to see what the €1 billion recapitalization actually means for the park and fans. The dream outcome would be the WDS getting a DCA style makeover. Thats probably too much to ask for considering the horrendous maintenance issues across both parks, the Disney Village, Lac Disney and hotels. Thoughts? -

Amazing news for Paris, dreadful news for Shanghai! It baffles me how the guy who has been at the helm of DLPR while the attendance has dropped, the hotels have literally fallen apart, the Disney Village and Lac Disney area has turned into a complete shambles, etc. has been given the General Manager role at Disneys newest resort? Am I missing something? -

Source: http://corporate.disneylandparis.com/CORP/EN/Neutral/Images/uk-2014-08-01-Philippe-Gas-Tom-Wolber.pdf One of the many steps the Disney Company is taking after they bought almost all the stocks of the French resort in 2012/2013. Can we finally expect a major overhaul? Amazing news for Paris, dreadful news for Shanghai! I've wondered exactly the same. Seeing the train 'engine' leave the station backwards does kind of spoil the illusion. There is a possible way around this though. 1. Guests queue for the train, but aren't allowed on to the platform 2. The exact number of guests to fill the train are then counted on to an empty platform (just like counting guests on to any other ride) 3. Guests on platform see train arrive the correct way (the platform and train are the right length so guests don't see the 'engine' on the other end of the train) 4. Guests board the train, leaving the platform empty 5. Train leaves and nobody is on the platfom to see the 'engine' go backwards Is that how it works? Can anybody who has ridden either way confirm?

The Walt Disney Museum looks amazing. Thank you for sharing those pictures with us. I was wondering the same as Diamondbacker. If I was to visit Europa Park (http://rcdb.com/4870.htm), would that count as a years worth of new credits? -
I'm really excited about of these additions to Animal Kingdom. There have been so many haters and doubters on pretty much every theme park forum that you visit ever since AVATAR was originally announced. Its as if some people want it fail, just because they didn't like the film? If you're a theme park fan then surely you want to see investment and fantastic attractions / lands being built at theme parks, regardless of you actually liking the IP that it is based on? How can anybody complain about a park getting new attractions and extended opening hours?

All I can say is get the Express Pass. I wouldn't even THINK about doing HHN without it. It's expensive, but worth EVERY PENNY! And if you can swing it, do an RIP tour. Wow thanks for the advice guys! Rob - Sorry to pester. As I have already purchased 2 Frequent Fear passes from the Universal UK website, do you know if I will be able to upgrade to Express Passes on the gate? Thanks again for the advice. regards, Matt *EDIT* If you see the Universal UK site here - http://www.universal-bookings.co.uk/park.html - The Express Pass is not available to purchase directly in the UK
