  1. Perhaps Intamin should issue a recall for these rides much like what Chance Morgan did with their Chaos rides in the SF chain?
  2. You may have to become a member at SFAFANS first in order to DL & save the pics to your desktop for use as wallpaper.I'm a member over there & actually met up with the webmaster Airtime at the park last season but since I'm thoroughly disgusted with the way the park is being run,and treated by SFI havn't been posting lately over there. I'd been a passholder there since 98 & the park was running well back then but in recent years I've seen it go downhill to the point where I just don't feel like I'm getting a good value anymore for my money so I've taken a break this year in the hopes that by 2009 things may start to improve there.
  3. Speaking of Rebel yell is the former "backward" side open for the season yet?
  4. Looks like opening day went off without a hitch, for the most part....now I just gotta wait two more months before I can ride this thing for myself.
  5. Dominator opens today woohoo!!!!! I can't wait to get down there come late july to take a few laps on this thing.KD did a great job on the placement of this ride, along with the entrance plaza & I can hardly wait to see it in person because photos just don't do it justice. If anyone's going to the park today just be sure to get plenty of pics for the rest of us.
  6. I agree. They should fix fix the wave pool. It's very crumbly. That's all I can think of thats wrong with Hurricane Harbor. As for the rest of the park, they should add theming to everything in Gotham. And after you get Gotham out of the way, go ahead and add some new attractions to keep people coming back. Also Tony Hawk's Halfpipe was seen testing on May-22! The new slide opens TODAY! I've been hearing this "we need to fix what we have" line for a few years now from several employees but does SFI ever do anything to remedy the situation? no. They let the park sit year after year with no new improvements & if there are any new improvements/attractions they always end up being waterpark slides simply because they're cheaper to buy & put in than even a new flat let alone a small coaster. I really have a feeling that SFI is considering letting the park suffer the same fate as GL in the coming years, that IMO would explain the lack of new a dditions to the ride side of the park over the past five years & with KD opening Dominator this year SFA can't afford to sit idle in 09,or add another mundane waterslide if they hope to remain competitive in the mid-atlantic region.
  7. I agree,I mean it's been five years since anything(a waterslide) was added to the ride side of the park & they've been losing flats left & right since Shapiro took over. When they announced TH:HP last fall that was it for me,I didn't go back for frightfest & didn't get a pass for 08(first time in 10 years) because a waterslide in HH just doesn't justify the $65.00 price tag for a season pass, not to mention the horrid operational policies from last season.
  8. I thought for sure that media day would be postponed when I woke up to rain in my neck of the woods yesterday morning but it looks like the park did a great job of pulling it off. Only problem for me is that I've gotta wait about two months before I'll be able to ride it.
  9. So did anyone attend today's media day event or was it cancelled due to the rain we had early this morning? '
  10. Tomorrow is media day for Dominator so if anyone here is planning on going be sure to get some great pics for the rest of us.
  11. The Dominator plaza is looking great,I can't wait to ride this thing come late july.
  12. Niether am I,remember the GP doesn't know that the ride is a relocated attraction & assume that it's new so it makes sense to have a media day to help market the park's new attraction.
  13. Yeah, look in the Dominator first ride auction thread to find the info on opening day as well.
  14. Yeah,I noticed the same thing on the 2007 park maps....blue background, orange text. As for the rails not being painted,or having blobs of paint on them....I could care less. Now what I don't like when it comes to paint on a coaster is really faded paint that needs to be redone but gets skipped over year after year due to budget cuts.
  15. Thanks for finally getting the podcast up Clint,I'll head on over there & take a look.
  16. So is anyone planning on going to the park for Dominator's media day/opening on may 20th? if so be sure to get some good pics for the rest of us.
  17. Well, that may be your problem right there. You went on a SATURDAY during SPRING BREAK. Maybe you should have gotten Flash Pass: Here's what's it's good on: Boomerang - Low Capacity Ride. Bugs' White Water Rapids - Great log flume without having to wait. Poltergeist - Great coaster! Ride it many times without waiting! Road Runner Express - Also a great coaster! Ride it many times. Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters - Low Capacity Dark Ride. Scream - Lower Capacity drop tower. Superman: Krypton Coaster - Great coaster! Ride this many times. The Gully Washer - It's a rapids ride. Did you even bother? The Rattler - Get your credit without having to wait. Tony Hawk's Big Spin - Low capacity decent spinner. Goliath - You get to ride in the front! Seriously, how is getting the Flash Pass *NOT* a good value and a way to insure you'll have a better day at the park? I just don't get it. We are all park and roller coaster enthusaists and when a park offers a way for us to have a better day, why are so many people against this? When I spend THOUSANDS of dollars on a trip, spending an extra $33 per person to skip the lines on every ride is NOTHING. --Robb It's not a good value at all Robb.Parks existed long before SF came up with the fastlane/flashpass system & guests knew that they had to spend time waiting in line for rides no matter what seat they wanted. When SF does things like this(or in the case of superman at SFA last year)reserving an ENTIRE train for flashpass users only it just leaves a bad taste in the guesets mouths.I swear I really would like to see Shapiro & Snyder ousted & Burke brought back to the CEO's position in the company because the current management is just making the chain worse with these terrible policies.
  18. Thanks for one of the best updates so far Clint, man those trains sure look sweet & finally the station is really starting to come together quite nicely compared to how it looked in the previous update. I'm pretty sure that the white section of track is just a primer....SFA used a white primer on both JJ & ME prior to applying the new coats of paint to those two rides three years ago.I just HOPE that the loop isn't going to be yellow but I have a feeling it will be if you look at the spray that managed to find it's way onto the rails during the painting process.
  19. Nahh,I can think of a few good spots for it at SFA though, one being the field in between superman & Batwing to liven up that long path back there...or they can just as easily place it in nantucket/olde boston where Iron eagle & the enterprise were formerly located as that section of the park is in DESPERATE need of something new.
  20. I think,or at least hope that they put new seats on. The reason for that is because,if you look at the seats on the train in the photo the color is entirely different from when the ride was at GL...it looks like the trains will be blue & orange rather than yellow & orange & purple to me as first shown in the diagram on coastercrew. The original colors were purple seats/blue/purple frames/yellow restraints when SF built the ride in 2000 but CF obviously decided to change the colors & definitely for the better IMHO.
  21. I noticed that on the recent Thunderhawk construction updates as the trains appear to be using the same color scheme as on Dominator....Vooddoo's train colors look more like that of Raptor at CP however. From the looks of the Dominator train in the photo the main body color appears to be the same as the seat instead of the yellow that was shown in the coastercrew rendering but then again since Dominator has 3 trains they probably want to alternate the colors on at least two of them who knows?
  22. Good point,I totally forgot about the fact that the park has to provide access for disabled riders.
  23. I have a feeling that the queue will be set up the same way as it was at GL,if you look at how narrow the path is between SGC & Dominator at KD you'll see that it's simply not big enough to be used as a queue line...although KD has tended not to build huge switchbacks(ala SF) in the past so perhaps you may be right. What end of the platform was the control booth on when the ride was at GL? I have a feeling after looking at the station photo again late last night that the "bulge" on the building might be for the control booth but we'll soon find out as the station continues to take shape.
  24. Let's just hope they don't set the MCBR to "parking brake" mode like they've done on anaconda & FOF.
  25. Hey Clint nice to hear from ya.Whatever happened to the opening day podcast? It's still not available on your site yet. Anyhow Dominator's looking great but I'm not sure if I like the facade on the station facing the lot.....it looks too much like the crappy station design that the ride had when it was at GL.
