What park have you been to the most?
Janus replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I started keeping track of how many times I went to SFOT at the start of the '04 season. Since then, I've been 84 times. I know I'm past 100 though, since I've been going there since June '03. -
Memorable or annoying songs

Bruce Wayne mix of Ecuador - makes Riddler's Revenge's queue a little more bareable. -
I'm pretty sure I went to that in 2002. A Friday in early May from 7pm-1am, yep, sounds like it. My dad got tickets for it through work. If it's really the same thing I went to, then it's not ERT. Just extended park hours basically.

Yep, that's what it was. That was my friend from CA when he came down last summer. He hates Texas (was his idea to get a shot of him saying it in front of a Texan flag), but seeing as SFOT is my home park, I don't. I love it, we've got some pretty awesome rides here. heck, SFFT is the best six flags park I've been to.

Six Flags Over Texas
Janus replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having been on SFOTs rides PLENTY of times, I'd say pretty much all their coasters are great, if you get a good ride on them. Superman- I've ridden it 247 times (67 space shot, 4 turbo, 172 combo). If you ride and you don't like it, you're probably on yellow tower. Yes, there's that much of a difference between towers. Blue is the best, followed by red. If you get one of those two, you'll have a great time. It's got nice negative G's when you hit the top after the launch, and again at the turbo drop half. Mr. Freeze - 171 rides. This is definently one where the front seat is the best. The launch isn't as powerful as some, but it's still pretty cool. The rest of the ride is one of the most high-paced I've ever been on. You only get a chance to breathe when you're on the vertical tower. It's not the most reliable ride around (It's blown two LIMs and vallied in the 05 season already), but it's easily the best ride in the park. Titan - 161 rides. If you've been on Goliath, there's not much to say about this one. The first helix is just as intense as the second one. Just be ready for the complete stop on the mid-course breaks. Oh, and red train is usually the smoothest. Batman - 157 rides. Not much to say about this one either, since there are so many of them. I was personally disappointed in this one, though. It's rough for a B&M, probably one of the worst of the BTR series. Still a quick rush and intense ride though. Shockwave is best from the backseat, it's got plenty of ejector airtime from there. Texas Giant, from the front - it's much less painful up there. Judge Roy Scream may look small, but it's worth a ride. Every one of those hills has airtime. And one more, mine train - ride in the back. Most of the ride hurts from the extreme lateral G's, but the last drop into the tunnel under the pond is so cool from the back. Be sure to check out some of the shows while you're there. SFOT's entertainment department is awesome. We're getting a handful of new shows this year, one from Fiesta Texas (which was rated the park with the best shows like a million times). Oh, and make sure you know exactly how to get to a ride before you head off to it. SFOT has one of the worst path layouts of any park I've been too. Oil Derrick and Runaway Mountain (another awesome ride), are about a hundred feet apart but you'll walk about a quarter mile to get from one to the other. BTW, SFFT is, in my opinion, a better park. 10 times more themeing, waaaay more flat rides, and the coasters they do have are amazing. -
First onride Video of Kanonen

Ok, now this screamscape rumor about SFOT getting one in 06 is sounding a LOT better -
zero gravity rolls and X's backflip

DDR... I wonder how much money I've shoveled into that thing.. Two of my favorite DDR songs are Rhythm and Police, and Candy -the one by luv unlimited (heavy + double mode ) Gotta get my exercise somehow, right? lol

This may be an MPEG-2 file. You can export your video to avi on Pinnacle Studio. Just click on the AVI button and set it to the default settings. That works for me every time. Yeah, generally that's the best way to do it, but my post was in response to someone saying that they had errors when they saved it as an AVI and I was suggesting a solution.

I go for guys, and I personally don't see how anyone (girl or guy) could NOT drool over Daniel Letterle. Go watch the scene in Camp where he's shirtless.. who wouldn't go gay for him?

Silver Bullet Concept Video
Janus replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
His videos are awesome. Don't they play his Xcelerator animation in Xcel's queue? Besides, he makes the videos LONG before the ride is up, so I'd say he does a pretty good job with the speeds, especially since he doesn't really have a way of knowing how fast it's going at any one point along the ride. -
How obsessed are you?
Janus replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lets see.. SFOT is closed for around 12 weeks a year altogether, leaving about 40 weeks that it's actually open during. I went 72 times last year. And I've got one of the highets Superman Tower of Power counts. I'm sure a few employees have passed me up, but it's been open for 2 seasons and I'm close to 300 rides. Oh, and in my animation class at school we're making houses in 3D. I've been working on a Huss Frisbee and an S&S combo tower for the backyard, plus I've got videos of coasters playing on all the TVs. -
lol... that may be true, but they need to learn to use offramps and not just drive off the side of the road when they want to get off the freeway. But yeah, SFOT and SFFT / SFAW aren't that far away from each other. I've gone to SFFT in the morning, gotten on plenty of rides there, and driven back home to SFOT and had about 4 hours left (that included a stop for dinner and a stop at home to shower and everything). Gotta love getting on two different Superman rides in the same day.

As far as coasters go, I collect T-shirts, just about any of them, but every time I go to a new SF park, I look specifically for the "RIDE" shirt (the one that has Xcelerator on it, and the park's name). Coaster parts, when I can get my hands on them - only have a few things, but one is a Texas Giant guide wheel . Oh, and souvenier bottles from SF parks.

There's nothing like a good SCAD tower.. Even on my fourth dive, I kept wanting to back out on the way up. I'm not a screamer, but about half way down that fourth time I couldn't hold it in. You can't see where you're going, and it doesn't slow down near the bottom like most drop rides, you're accelerating ALL the way to the net.

I don't really go for AA's or AAA's.. if I can get a regular A, I try something harder. Probably one of the hardest songs I've done is the remix of Candy on double on heavy (9ft)- WITHOUT the bar (using the bar is practically cheating..)

here's a couple: Silver Bullet, yay... too bad i've never been on it Me and my boyfriend at the Fort Worth Zoo (i'm on the left) My sister and I on X

most in one day: Xcelerator - 74 Superman Tower of Power - 51 Batman: The Ride (SFOT) - 29 Titan - 20 and one I doubt many people have tried to marathon: Spin-Out (SFMM) - 20 8) highets total counts: Xcelerator - 411 Superman Tower of Power - 226 (not bad, considering it's only been open for 2 seasons and it's had some downtime, plus the 2-3 months of offseason every year...) Titan - 151 Batman: The Ride (SFOT) - 150 Mr. Freeze - 124

Favorite Photos YOU Have Taken

I've got a lot, but I've narrowed them down to two: Judge Roy Scream - SFOT - at 7am - Coasterthon 2003 Batman: The Ride - SFOT - along with a full moon. -
When did you become an enthusiast?
Janus replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
May 3rd, 2003, at around 7:40pm.. Private party at SFMM, my first time to the park. The moment my seat rotated over at the top of X's first drop, I was hooked. -
If you're going to be doing ANY kind of on-ride footage, I'd say don't get the Sony DVD cam. I've got a Sony Mavica MVC-CD400 (still camera that burns pics straight to a mini-CD, kinda the same thing), it's definently not reliable, and it's really slow.

Best Drop Ride!!!
Janus replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nothin but Net is my favorite.. the only ride that still scares me. But as far as regular drop rides go, it's Superman Tower of Power for me - it kinda grows on you after 226 times.
