  1. I'm not going to take my luck with VTA that day.
  2. Yeah sorry I wasnt really answering a question, just joining in complaining. I dont know why the third train is always in perpetual rehab.
  3. The third train (Not train #3, just the third one at any given time) is perpetually in pieces, so if one of the other two has unscheduled maintenance, this is what happens.
  4. They should bolt a few of the old cars to the track that was left Wow..thats an awesome idea. I'd love it if they did that.
  5. So officially, no name change? :/ Considering that the area is now going to be called the Screampunk District, I'd argue that the name Scream fits much better now then it used to. Yes officially no name change, it will still be called Scream! and for exactly the reason you mentioned. It goes so well with the name of the district, why change it?
  6. I saw confirmation today that nothing will be changing on Scream other than the new paint job, some new (but not different) parts on the trains, and a refreshed sign in front of the queue.
  7. Its pretty similar in course direction, but the experience is worlds apart. Because of how the ZacSpin cars spin it's a very polarizing ride. Some people like myself love the intensity and cant get enough, but a lot of people find it far too uncomfortable. Batman shouldn't have that effect. People may or may not like it for their own reasons, but they shouldn't find the spinning as violent as on the ZacSpins. Schilke said the new cars were specifically designed to fix that problem. Twisted Colossus is opening this spring/summer too over there though, so that should be a good trip either way. I'm trying to get to both, one in May and one in September. Just havent figured out which to do when yet, waiting for MM to announce an opening date for TC.
  8. I dont think the park has anything to do with that discussion, that was RMC who said that wasn't it?
  9. At first glance (before I knew it was an Arrow) I thought S&S because they reminded me of the El Loco seats, the only thing that looked off was the restraint, but their launch coasters like Extreme Rush at Happy Valley have those kind of restraints, so yeah it looks like a hybrid of the two.
  10. I really don't dig the new colors, but I really don't care either. I'm just happy the thing is finally getting a coat of paint they could paint it any colors and I'd be happy.
  11. That would be difficult after the coaster is built but if you mean piece by piece at the factory I agree. I'm sure price is the reason they don't already do it.
  12. Environmental conditions are much different out here than over there as well too, which makes a difference. X2 still looks pretty good considering it was painted in 2008. Whatever they did seems to have held up much better than past methods. SEFK has about 4 years on it's paint job and GL has about 3 and they both still look great as well. Tatsu is the most recent paint to look terrible...hopefully that means that between 2007 and 2008 they either got better paint, better methods, or both. When Tatsu finally gets a new coat we might actually have a park without an eyesore.
  13. They haven't. I personally know someone who works in the cycle shop and they are still understaffed and over worked. Well then I appreciate the Ninja rehab that much more then. Would have been easy to just say it's on one train until the end, glad they took the time and effort to get another one going.
  14. For Riddler's definitely. The SR line is so hidden that people dont use it unless they already know where it is, so it's virtually always a guaranteed walk on. Worst case if the standby line is totally empty, it's still a push. If Lex's line is > 30 and Green Lantern's is more than about 15 (which it almost always is, its a complex coaster to load like Tatsu), then SR lines will still benefit you, especially if you want to ride something repeatedly. Note that Lex Luthor's Single Rider line won't even be available if the standby line isn't long enough (which is usually about 30 mins or so, a couple of switchbacks inside the building). They open and close it when necessary.
  15. They make two different kinds of track. The I-Box track is all steel, the Topper Track is steel topper on top of wood layers.
  16. That's awesome news!! Can you get a photo of the new Franken-train?
  17. Budget for a flash pass incase it's unexpectedly busy but don't buy it ahead of time. I don't expect it to be terribly busy any time soon as long as there are no special events. In my opinion the regular flash pass is pretty useless, because when the park is busy enough to warrant a flash pass, I'm not going to wait the 45-60+ minutes for each ride to be busy. If the lines are short enough, I'm not getting a flash pass at all. So I get the gold flash pass which will knock almost all wait times down to 5-15 minutes. You can check into one ride and then reserve your next one while you're in the station and most of the time your next ride is ready when you come out of the exit. The platinum pass, in reality, doesn't really shorten your wait times any more than the gold pass, it's about the same. So the platinum is really only worth the money if you want double-rides (which are only allowed on some rides) or if you want to reserve rides on YOLO. Single Rider lines are your best friend when you're flying solo. The most beneficial are Green Lantern, Riddlers, and Lex Luthor. Viper and Revolution also have them, but it's rare that you'll actually need them there. Riddlers is the one thats pretty hard to find. I'll PM you some directions to find the different Single Rider lines. Your plan is basically the one I use. If it is busy enough for a flash pass, wait until after you've ridden YOLO (and X2 if its line isnt long yet) to get the flash pass since they arent included on it (Unless you pay $10 or $15 per ride, requires gold for X2 and platinum for YOLO)
  18. Sucks for those wanting to visit the park those days, but that is now a set income that really will help benefit the park, if I'm not mistaken.Yeah for last year the 49ers paid Cedar Fair I think it was 12.5 million dollars to close every home day game. The 49ers' opponents have been announced now but not the schedule, so once it's posted those Sundays will be removed from the schedule. Since CGA is open the day of Wrestlemania (which will be more packed than a sold out niners game) I'd have to conclude that the whole closing on game days thing is a 49ers idea and not a Cedar Fair idea. That said though I could see one year in the future we might end up with the park being open during game days. Perhaps if/when that whole red zone thing goes the way of the dodo.
  19. ^ Wow..serious fail in those mugs. Also a photo of the old X labelled with the current name X2. What wood coaster was that, cause yeah it's obviously not Colossus and I don't think it's Apocalypse unless it's a really old photo.
  20. Yes you can. The difference is in wait time. The regular flash pass will have you pseudo wait as long as the regular line while the gold will have much shorter waits. In my experience gold will get you 5-15 min waits for anything (except Fright Fest mazes and for some reason water rides) even on the busiest of days. I always get the gold when I get the flash pass, because generally if the lines are short enough for me to use a regular, then I dont bother with a flash pass at all. The best strategy is as soon as you check in to a ride with your flash pass, while youre waiting in the station reserve your next ride and more often than not, your next ride will be ready when you get off of the current ride. This way you can go ride to ride with virtually no waiting other than the station waits.
  21. I agree. Never never never never EVER go on Saturday, UNLESS you get the platinum pass. That is the ONLY way i will go on a Saturday. Foolish otherwise...unless you just really love to waste money and wait in likes to go on maybe 3 rides for your 60 bucks.... Gold is usually good enough. Platinum doesnt really give you much improvement in wait times, it just gives you double rides on some coasters and the ability to purchase YOLO FP rides.
  22. YOLO's line when its backed up to the entrance may be up to 60 mins or so. X2's line can get out of control in the morning, an hour or two after opening it might be up to 90 mins (Since GP always runs there first), but its usually down to 15 or less in the afternoon on most days after all those people already rode it in the morning. Tatsu is similar..the line can get to 60-90 on a busy day. If it's bad, then get a flash pass and you can skip the whole lower queue and go straight to the stairs. I've never once waited in Tatsu's lower queue. General flash pass advice (especially when going on a Saturday like you are) is to budget for a Flash Pass and then judge when you get there whether to get one or not. If you decide to get one, go ride YOLO first (since its not included in the FP) and then get the FP after that.
  23. In my opinion it's best to start at YOLOCoaster, since the line for X2 will always die down at about 4-4:30 in the afternoon, YOLO's line sometimes dies but sometimes doesn't. Lex Luthor's line is comprable to a mid-range coaster usually, but it has pretty good capacity and also has a single rider line so if you're solo or in a small group you can use it to cut the wait to 15 mins or less. Viper, Revolution, Green Lantern, and Riddlers also have Single Rider lines. The only major attractions that are closed are Scream for repainting and the Sky Tower is still SBNO pending possible rehab. The entire Colossus County Fair area is closed for retheming. Ninja is still on one train due to the tree accident, we believe they're working on fixing another train. Cleanliness is better in the last year from what I've heard. It's no Disney, but lately they seem to be making an effort to improve. The improvement made in the last few years for fluffy bunnies is they now have electronic FBs where you get a code to use and you can take your stuff from one to another without paying for a second one. Still heavily enforced on X2 (And someone correct me if Im wrong I Think those are or were not connected to the others) The fluffy bunny policies are only getting worse, especially with things like what was mentioned above with the guy dropping his hat, ignoring warnings and climbing over fences and suing the park when a train hits him.
