  1. Update: SYE is about 90-95% painted as of today (all purple). No word yet as to when they will start applying the more detailed themeing. Also, painting has started on the Tree Swing. It is currently a mix of green, pink, and orange. Painting should take some time on Tree Swing due to the extensive detail. Also, to my surprise, The Mighty Axe has been painted as well. The arm structure of the ride is now blue...in fact, the only red part left on it right now is the platform. Also, a few SpongeBob banners have gone up by the Euro-Fighter area as well. A lot of electrical components for the Half Pipe have arrived and are waiting downstairs. The word from management is that track and supports for all three of the new attractions (Half Pipe, Euro-Fighter, and Drop Tower) should begin arriving on Dec. 16th. Thats all for now
  2. ^Same here. Work and save for trips next summer...although it's very tempting to plan a trip when you get 8-12 inches of snow like we're supposed to get up here in the Twin Cities in the next couple hours. I also work at The Park at MOA so I'll be very interested in the changes taking place here over the next couple of months.
  3. I might be applying to work for an airline and one of the benefits of working for most airlines is you get to fly standby free (or discounted). So I'm interested in parks that are located near major airports. Also, if there is a easy way to get from the airport to the park, please include that too (ex: there is a train that goes from MSP to Mall of America (Park at MOA))). Thanks for your help.
  4. Nice TR. I had to work that morning and it was incredibly slow that day. I didn't notice that sign by TT so I'll check it out tomorrow night when I work. As for the dirt...A lot of people don't know this, but there isn't anything underneath the actual park...just land. So when they are digging and putting in supports, they are actually installing them into the actual ground. The basement runs under the outskirts of the mall. The current plans for TT (soon to be Fairly Odd Coaster) specifically state that the current color scheme will stay the same. Also, I'm almost positive that the colors for Spongebob will be Blue & Teal.
  5. Mamba, Maverick, Disaster Transport, Wildfire, and X are just some of the rides I've heard mediocre reviews of...and I loved them all. I read an article about Kinzel some time ago and he said how Disaster Transport is one of the business decisions he regrets (or something like that), but I really enjoy it. Also, I think Wildfire has the best location of any roller coaster I've been on. yeah its short, but the view on the first drop is amazing. As far as rides that didn't live up to the hype: I think the most disappointing ride experience i've had was on Apollos Chariot. I really don't see how it's ranked in any poll to be honest. It was extremely boring and dull...there was no air or nothing. Same goes for Nitro too. Also, I heard nothing but great reviews of Kentucky Rumbler, but here again, didn't think it was all that great. It wasn't horrible or anything, but I think Renegade (and even OzCat) are both better than KR. The most underrated coaster: PHANTOMS REVENGE...hands down! I know it's ranked and everything, but i never hear/see people talking about it...I really think it gives MF a run for it's money. It's just pure fun. Goliath at SFOG was pretty good too. Happy Thanksgiving!...and remember: That next yummy bite of turkey may come back to bite you in the ass next time you wanna ride an Intamin!
  6. I'm not sure if this had been mentioned before, but what park do you think has the best entrance? Me personally, I'm a fan of KI & KD with the fountains and tower. SFGAm is decent too. But I'd say the overall best one is IOA. What do you think?
  7. I'm glad you had a good time. I happen to work at The Park and always find it interesting to hear what visitors think. I'd say that there are some rather unusual ride procedures/policies established there so I always like to hear what people think.
  8. Very nice site! I have always wanted to ride one of those coaster wheels!...they look so cool. Also, someone in the US really needs to build a large scale ZacSpin
  9. The log cabin building next to TT (formerly known as Outfitters) that was just taken down apparently was bought by someone for $50,000!
  10. I'm not going to retype all of it, so here is a link to what I posted concerning the MOA Nick Universe meeting I attended today: http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/showthread.php?p=737192#post737192
  11. Ok lets see: SeaWorld Florida Islands of Adventure Universal Studios Busch Gardens Africa Park at MOA Worlds of Fun Valleyfair Six Flags over Georgia Dollywood Carowinds Kings Dominion Six Flags America Six Flags Great Adventure Dorney Park Hersheypark Knoebels Busch Gardens Europe Silver Dollar City Celebration City Six Flags St. Louis Holiday World Beech Bend Indiana Beach Michigans Adventure Six Flags Great America Still to come: Cedar Point Kennywood
  12. 15 million people visit The Mall of America every year...I really don't think they'll have an issue.
  13. Im not sure about the colors, but i can't imagine why they wouldn't want it orange and teal.
  14. ^^^The Timberland Twister will take on a new name/theme. Some might like it, and some might find it fairly odd *wink
  15. I hate to break it to ya, but you can kiss Paul Bunyan good bye!
  16. It definitely is going to be a Halfpipe (not a disko). I attended the announcement today and i must say that i'm not really a fan of Nickelodeon, but what they showed us today looked really good. As an employee there, I'm ready for anything other than The Park at MOA.
  17. Twin Cities, MN (Eden Prairie to be more specific). I live 10 miles north of Valleyfair and about 15 miles west of The Park at MOA.
  18. This does sound really dumb, But it's WOF...not exactly the greatest park out there. I think I could have more fun at church!
  19. Wow!...I must say that you are the first person that I have heard of who didn't enjoy their ride on Renegade. I do prefer Hades slighty more, but I would hardly call Renegade "weak." I'm a local, and for me, every ride I have had has been better than before. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I must say that reading about your experience on it surprises me greatly.
  20. Top #5 Steel: 1.) Millennium Force 2.) Phantoms Revenge 3.) Kraken 4.) Montu 5.) X Top #5 Wood: 1.) El Toro (OMG...You need to ride it!) 2.) Voyage 3.) Hades 4.) Renegade 5.) Thunderhead I don't know how I would rank them as far as my top 10, but I can tell you that El Toro is the best roller coaster I have ever ridden!
  21. ^I'll see what I can do about the pictures. And if you want to balance TT, just have the heaviest people sit diagonal from each other.
