  4. February 21st Update! Mr. Six is BACK!!! That's right! Today's update starts with something more important than Terminator...the return of the old dancing guy and I have to say I'm glad to have him back! Anyway, on to some Terminator photos! It's a Saturday and these guys never get a day off...it's because they are ROBOTS! Duh! You wanted sexy curves? You got 'em! The bottom of the structure sure looks dense! I guess it needs to be with the California earthquakes. These two sections keep looking better and better. More Terminators hard at work. You can easily spot the Terminators since they all wear bright orange vests! See! Here you can see the new bridge that will be the rides entrance is starting to get worked on. And another look at the future bridge. And OMG! Another look at the future bridge! Yeah, I know we've seen this before, but doesn't it look better closer up? We see you Mr. First Drop getting installed! Here's a good overview of the progress this week. Mud...why did it have to be mud? I think by West Coast Bash the ride will almost be done! This Terminator update, along with the Bryan and Adam Show is brought to you by delicious, refreshing, tasty, and fizzy Coca-Cola. OMG! SIGNATURE SHOT!!! You can see a lot more of the first drop has gone up since last week. Popsicle Sticky Sticks. Hello Goliath Sign! Don't try to hide! We see you behind Deja Vu! The new entrance area from the Sky Tower. Across from the Deja Vu entrance is the new Johnny Rockets Snakes & Pies! Sorry, I mean Shakes and Fries. Thrill Shot was running today! Look! Dueling Arrows! Rapids is still down for the count. Looks like a lot of work is being done. The boats wait patiently to go back home. TPR Member Sighting! Crazy4Coasters and Itnotfair. And no, they aren't the cute couple as they look like here, they just both happened to be at the park at the same time! Jeff was also here doing his "I look older than dirt" impression. We also got a sneak peek inside the new Cold Stone at the front of the park. This location will have mix-ins just like all the others! Ooooh....yummy! "I will take Butterfingers and Reese's please!" Wow! Her and I have something in common. Maybe I should get her number! (BTW, Hi Dino!) Don't forget to get your 2009 Play Pass! And if you are local to Six Flags Magic Mountain and want to check out working at the park, stop by the 2009 Job Fair! And finally, we leave this update with another TPR Caption Contest! The best 10 captions posted will get a TPR Bag-o-Crap! Email your captions to DAN! mrt0ad13@aol.com See you next week! --Robb
  5. I've never heard of them. I'm going to move this to the main forum so maybe some other people can help out. Good luck Moose! --Robb
  6. Hi there, While I appreciate your enthusiasm this is not authorized by Theme Park Review and unfortunately I'm going have to ask you to remove it. Thank you for your understanding. --Robb
  7. ^ I will find out for sure, but I'm fairly certain you should be able to apply at least part of the admission towards a season pass. --Robb
  8. I don't know much about Magic Springs since I've never been there, but isn't the park in closer proximity to some of the local attractions, convention centers and golf courses than Hard Rock is? And as far as local cities go, while neither of them boast a huge population, Little Rock's 180k is at least a bit stronger than Myrtle Beach's 22k. I'm not sure if either park REALLY draws from any of the big cities within a few hours drive. Magic Springs has Dallas, the #7 most populous city in the US to pull from, whereas Hard Rock Park seems to pull mostly from Charlotte and Columbia and neither of those two cities even come close to the population of Dallas. Family Kingdom, while no where near as "nice" of a park as Hard Rock seems to have the right idea. They have free admission with a pay-per-ride or wristband option (less than $25), the are open afternoons and evenings only, when it gets cooler and the sun goes down (people stop sitting on the beach and looking for something to do) and they are VERY convenient to anyone staying at the beach. I still think Hard Rock's biggest challenge is getting people who have come to park themselves on a beach for a week to get in the car and drive to the park. Especially during the day. I have no idea if Hard Rock Park can be a success or not, but the park has probably been the most epic failure in the amusement industry recently, but who knows, remember Magic Springs even failed once too. Like I said previously, if you haven't gotten the credits, and the park does in fact re-open, I'd go get them ASAP...and I wouldn't book your airfare too far in advance just in case! --Robb
  9. Here's another article talking about the changes the new owners want to make: http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/135/story/788679.html I personally don't think this park should even be a $35 park! When I can go online right now and buy a one day ticket to Six Flags Magic Mountain for $39, a park with 16 roller coasters and other attractions, a park with as few attractions as Hard Rock has should not be charging $35! Personally, I feel that $29.99 is as high as the admission should go at this park for what they currently offer. I don't understand all this focus on the "locals"... HELLO HARD ROCK PARK! YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THE PEOPLE COMING TO MYRTLE BEACH ON VACATION TO COME VISIT YOUR PARK!!! Didn't it take Holiday World like 50 years to finally crack this number? And that's a park with 3 rides in many people's "best in the world lists!" Are you kidding me? This is what the new owner thinks? $50 = 3 1/2 to 4 hours? If you're charging $50 for a park you should be kept busy *ALL DAY LONG* not for just a few hours! So you're three months out to a proposed re-opening and you still don't know what your park is going to be called or themed after? Ok. I'm just not sure that these people "get it" any more or less than the previous owners do. We shall see. My advice to all of you who didn't get the credits last year...GO GET THEM SOON!!! --Robb
  10. ^ Yup! And shockingly you'll get through that line in about 10 minutes! --Robb
  11. YES!!! I always thought how funny it was that everything you know about the calm and peaceful Japanese was totally lost for that initial 5 minute rush to get into Disneyland. It was just CRAZY! --Robb
  12. This is exactly right. Thank you! I feel we offer more content for "free" and without ANY ads at all than any other site out there. And that will not change. It's clear that I need to think about this more, so for right now I'm going to close this thread and when we are ready to announce how we will create a "membership" I'll open a new thread. --Robb
  13. Wow. I'd really like to see both of those honestly. So whichever one they choose for your demand, I DEMAND the other!!! --Robb
  14. Is there not a link for "View Results" at the bottom of the poll? If you only choose two the poll doesn't know that you want to choose ONLY two so therefore it's still open for you to choose one more. But you should be able to click the "View Results" link at the bottom to see who is winning. --Robb
  15. I've had some interesting conversations with parks over the past couple of days and it would seem that if we are to offer any kind membership card that would allow access to events or park discounts for TPR members many parks are going to require that we are a "paid membership." Their reasoning, and frankly I see where they are coming from, is that some of the discounts they offer to "club memebrs" is often better than the coupons or local soda cans offered so if we created a "free" membership then we essentially have created a "free coupon" for anyone who finds it, registers, and prints out the card. And I'm told that would compete with deals they have made with other companies. I need to think about this a bit more to figure out how we would re-tool a "paid membership" for TPR. My initial thought is to do something where we charge a certain amount, like $25 annually, but that gets you a $15 TPR Store credit and the membership card that we laminate and mail to you. I'm also working on other things to add some value like a TPR signature banner that will include your ride count, and I'd really like to work out as many discounts as we can with some parks. Anyway, these are just some ideas. Thoughts? --Robb
  16. Great stuff Big Mike! I already added some of the Scandia Screamer photos to the park index! --Robb
  17. ^ It probably has more to do with how big the initial uploaded file is. If the video is long or the video was at higher quality it might be a bigger .flv file to have to stream. --Robb
  18. ^ Very strange. I just tried to upload a .mov also and it didn't work. This was the same problem we were having with .avi's about a week ago. Hopefully I can get this fixed shortly. --Robb
  19. And now the part you've all been waiting for! TOKYO DISNEY RESORT!!! When going through the photos from the trip I normally try to narrow down to about 40 or 50 photos per park. This time around I ended up with just over 200 pictures of Tokyo Disney and I thought "what the hell!" everyone loves to see photos of this amazing park so I'll just post them all! So here is the first of 4 parts for Tokyo Disney Resort. The photos will be kind of random, but I think that will be part of the fun! Enjoy! Ahhhh...bizarre flavors of popcorn. You'll find this all over Tokyo Disney Resort. Chocolate was "good" but it's no Black Pepper! How come Japanese people aren't fat? Welcome to Toontown...spooky pumpkin edition! The Jolly Trolley mows down about 10 to 15 unsuspecting Japanese each day. Watch out for that frog! It spits. "How do I get out of this cave???" The new Tiki Room doesn't suck as much as the one in Florida....but it still sucks! Will the REAL Disney character please step aside... Aha! Turns out it was the little Japanese boy! Who knew? This fulfills the "Giant Boat with waving people" part of the update. Toon Lube. No lube needed...it's like throwing a bowling ball down a hallway. One of these two is a man. SKLOOOSH! DisneySea is sexy. Hidden something. "Every time it eats a child, it has explosive gas." "What's that sour taste? Did you pee in there?" Tokyo's Space Mountain Rocket Ship make over didn't suck. "My God! It's full of stars!" "Which one is the sex bed?" "Godzilla! Come Quick! Kill Mega Fire Monster!" Now that is one BIIIIIIG ball! Little men like playing with little boats. DisneySea at night. Amazing. Aquatopia. The most awesome pointless ride ever! It is even more awesome and more pointless at night. Seriously this ride is super cool! "Welcome Home!" Methos POV "Are you the REAL Alice in Wonderland?" Loch Ness Castle. BEST. RIDE. EVAR! DIE! DIE! DIE!!!! Boo to you and you and you.... This version is better than Disneyland's in California because it's not at Disneyland in California. Is it just me or does that look like a severed head at the bottom of the picture? Haunted Mansion Holiday makes me happy. I think the Santa suit will impress Sally. Jack is sure to get some ragdoll tonight! Hellloooooo Castle! Those crazy, crazy Japanese! One of these is a real pussy.....cat. Did we mention that Tokyo Disneyland's Castle is awesome? OMG! Now there are two of those hideous creatures! No, no, that's just Rosie O'Donnell. OMFG! Minnie looks HOT! Where are we at again? ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM! Dave has a thing for duck furries! "Hey girls! How much?" "Honey, are you sure we can't have Belle come to our room for like an hour? 45 minutes? Oh, who are we kidding...10 minutes TOPS!" The castle has it's evil Mickey pumpkin guards. And we end this part of the update with this awesome photo of the castle all decked out for it's 25th anniversary! --Robb
