  6. OK, so after I ride it opening day next season I will be allowed to say "it would have been a lot better with lap bars only, too bad"? It's not so much that you're not allowed to have an opinion, but more so the fact that you're saying the same exact thing over and over and over again. You think it would be better with lapbars. Got it. Done. I tried to say the same thing, but some people just get all hung up on one thing and can't let it go. It's sort of like a fetish, you know...some people are into crushing, some people are into small boys in tights, others are into lap bars only. To each his own... --Robb
  7. ^ I thought Crush N' Gusher was an NBGS International Master Blaster slide. --Robb
  8. Quite a few of the accelerators have 5 cars. Furius Baco has 6. So yes, this is the longest train with those restraints. You do realize that almost every post of yours in this thread has been about the restraints? We all know you don't like them. That point has been made several times. Why can't you just let it go? --Robb
  9. I'm not sure I would compare this to a Mega-Lite. Those coasters have about 9 moments of very extreme airtime and from watching the POV video, I'm not sure that KD's ride will deliver the same. Looks like there will be 2, maybe 3 spots of good airtime, but not at all what the Mega Lite's deliver. That's not a complaint or anything, just an observation and I want to make sure everyone knows what they are comparing the rides to. In fact, look at these two videos back to back and tell me if they look similar - Intimidator 305: [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=KD_POV_640x360_FlashHigh_hqse[/coastertube] Kawasemi: [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=kawasemi_1[/coastertube]
  10. I also do not have an issue with them. Sure, I'd rather have no OTSR's, but I personally prefer these to a lot of other restraints - Vekoma SLC's, Arrow trains, etc, etc... Ever since they appeared on Storm Runner, I have never had a problem with them at all. And here's the other thing, I'd rather have an Intamin hyper coaster WITH these restraints than have NO Intamin hyper coaster at all. --Robb "Just trying to be more glass half full about this..." Alvey
  11. I'm fine if people want to discuss the restraints, as in the restraints shown in the photo, but I'm sick of the CSI-like detective work going on by people trying to convince themselves those aren't going to be the actual restraints on the ride. Unless KD releases another official photo showing a different restraint, those are the restraints this coaster is getting. There is no conflicting information. THOSE ARE THE RESTRAINTS!!! Any further discussion about this will be deleted. --Robb
  12. Debunked how so? All we have is conflicting pictures and hearsay thus far. OMFG! Please stop! No, there is no confliting picutres or hearsay. The restraints look like this: DEAL WITH IT! TPR Moderators - please delete any further posts that discuss the "conflict or hearsay" about the restraints. --Robb
  13. You know... When was the last Intamin hyper/giga/whatever was built in the USA? I can put my minor complaints about the restraints aside (yes, they are minor, as they don't really bother me) and just be happy that North America is finally seeing another Intamin hyper get built. The best case scenario here is that this sparks more of this type of ride to get built! I don't see why this is such a bad thing... --Robb ps. You guys are all talking is though you have been ON the ride already. Why don't you save your whining and complaining for when the ride opens and then you can find out for yourselves how bad it really is?
  14. Hey everyone - I had to do a bit of "cleaning up" of this thread. Lots of info was posted all over the place and I felt it was better to have one post that was the "official announcement." You may all discuss the ride... Thank you! --Robb

CLICK HERE for TPR's Intimidator 305 Announcement Media Day Coverage Kings Dominion to Introduce $25 Million Steel Giga-Coaster In 2010 Intimidator 305 will be the Biggest, Baddest and Meanest on the East Coast Doswell, VA. (Aug. 20, 2009) – The most exciting ride in Kings Dominion’s 35-year history will debut in the spring of 2010, as the amusement park introduces a mammoth 5,100-foot long steel Giga-coaster. Intimidator 305 takes it name from one of stock car racing’s most beloved and tenacious drivers, Dale Earnhardt, “the Intimidator™” along with the height of the coaster’s lift hill, 305 feet. Intimidator 305, only the second Giga-coaster ever built in North America, will be the tallest and fastest roller coaster of its type on the East Coast. The lift hill will stand a towering 305 feet at its highest peak; descend 300 feet at an 85 degree-angle and thunder along the track at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour during its three minute race to the finish. The trains, fashioned after Dale Earnhardt’s signature black car, will roar through six airtime humps plus three high-speed turns and the experience will have guests screaming for another lap around the track. “Intimidator 305 will break records as the single largest capital investment in the history Kings Dominion,” said Pat Jones, Kings Dominion’s vice president and general manager. “The numbers speak for themselves, at a cost of $25 million, a lift hill and first drop close to the height of the park’s landmark Eiffel Tower; you’ll have to see it to believe it.” Intimidator 305 will be located in the park’s Congo section and becomes Kings Dominion’s 15th World-class roller coaster. Dale Earnhardt, Inc. will partner with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, owners of Kings Dominion, to bring the massive coaster to life. “We’re excited to see this new roller coaster celebrate the speed and intensity of the legendary career of Dale Earnhardt,” said Jeff Steiner, executive vice president and general manager of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. “there are millions of fans that still honor their racing hero and this is a very real way for them to connect with the spirit and passion of the Intimidator™.” Guests will have the opportunity to see the ride being built from the ground up during the remainder of the park’s 2009 season, as well as follow its progress by watching the online webcam, set up to overlook the entire work site. 16. Ok, all this back and forth with the rules drama and bullshit is going to stop NOW. I'm f**king sick of it. We will start banning people who keep posting drama and obnoxious comments. If you want to come here and post and have fun with this forum, we encourage that. If you are going to constantly post about how you don't like the way this forum is run, well, let me make this very clear and easy for you... GO POST SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! None of the moderators here have the time to put up with this stupid, pointless, petty bullshit. It's stopping now. mcjaco, you have my permission to permanently ban from Theme Park Review anyone who continues any bickering or drama in this games forum. We are here to have fun. If you can't deal with that...LEAVE! --Robb EDIT! ps. It only took me 14 seconds using our search function to find the answer to the orignal posters question.
  17. And what exactly is that supposed to mean? --Robb
  18. Hey everyone! So TPR is looking into the world of Blu Ray this year and the best way for us to do some research is to ask you all to share your experiences. I am using Abobe CS4 to edit video and have Nero 9. I'm using mostly avchd files with some imported hdv files. Has anyone been successful burning a blu-Ray disc and if so what did you use to do it? What software and hardware do you have? How compatible did you find your disc to be? All your assistance may help get us a Roller Coasters in the RAW Blu-Ray even quicker! --Robb
  19. Just want to send a big THANK YOU to everyone at SFDK. The event was totally awesome and the Tony Hawk ERT session goes down in TPR history as one of the most "epic" ERT sessions EVAR!!! What we did tonight on Tony Hawk rivals some of the best ERT sessions we've had during our European tours. It was crazy! I hope there are photos and videos that get posted soon about what a great time the entire day way! THANK YOU SIX FLAGS DISCOVERY KINGDOM!!! (And Captain Lee!) --Robb
  20. You know I can actually understand him being pissed about the park shutting down the rides for the bad weather. What I don't understand is leaving so quickly. Our day at Great Adventure, we gave it ALL DAY. Our days at Fuji-Q, again, ALL DAY. At least give the park the chance to prove themselves or not. If it really was clear weather with no rain for most of the day and rides were still closed, I think you have a valid reason to be pissed. But when you stay for only 80 minutes and actually DID ride stuff, I don't buy it. And of those days I mentioned, Great Adventure at least opened stuff shortly after the rain passed, but there WAS rain in the area. And Fuji-Q kept stuff open in the rain for like an hour, and then randomly close them down for no given reason at all. --Robb
  21. Yeah, my take on these photos is - - It looks very cloudy and overcast. - It looks like it had at least rained once that day. - The parking lot is empty so everyone else probably stayed away due to the poor weather forecast. - I'm willing to bet if he had stayed longer he would have either had the park to himself with all rides open or been in the middle of a rain storm, even if it was a "light" rain storm. - If the original posters attitude in his posts and photo captions are any way a reflection of how he dealt with the park, I'm not surprised they didn't do anything for him. --Robb
