Just as the title says. Please vote for the TWO social media platforms you use the most. If you feel so inclined to do so, we would love to hear your reason as to WHY those are the platforms you use the most. If you use a platform that isn't in the poll, please tell us in the comments. NOTE! I am *NOT* including YouTube in this poll because I feel as though YouTube is becoming less and less of a "social" platform and more of a video streaming service. Since there isn't as much "sharing" or interaction on YouTube, I want to stick with the platforms that are more about engaging socially with friends Thank you for your input! Oh yeah, for those of you who use Snapchat...

Huh. That's really interesting because your IP address doesn't point to anywhere near Houston and your IP, which I can see is a static IP address for AT&T home cable service is also linked to two other accounts who have trolled our forum and been banned. And yes, I was able to find that most of these images are not yours, but pulled from Google Images. So yeah... BANNED! Honestly, I don't even understand this level of trolling. It's so dumb and pointless that it makes my brain hurt. So if your end goal was to give me an aneurysm due to gross stupidity, congrats, that's about all you're worth in this world. -

Three coasters had too few riders to have any valid comparisons this year: * Cyclone Nicco Park IN 1 0 0 0 0.0000 * Animal Coaster Jawa Timur Park 2 ID 1 0 0 0 0.0000 * Montezum Hopi Hari BR 1 0 0 0 0.0000 An asterisk indicates coasters that appeared on fewer than 2 % of ballots. -
TPR Live! Live Streams Around Parks
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only time I feel we should be moving on is when people stop asking questions or making commentary. I'm not someone to just "stand around and do nothing" and it would feel awkward for me to do so in real life so it's even more awkward when I have a camera rolling and I'm being a "host." Sometimes what you don't see on the replay is that I'll be standing there saying "ok, people, interact with us..." and I won't get much to go off of and that's when things get slower for me. I could seriously walk around with the phone all day if people were feeding us questions and discussion topics. But when that slows down and people stop, then I feel it's time to turn off the live stream. -

Remember that Mitch required a minimum number of riders of a coaster to have it even be included in the final results. I forget what the number was but I want to say it was around 10. So that would basically help eliminate the scenario you just mentioned. -

Seriously though, the only way I would do it is if someone presented me with something that was closer to the Mitch Hawker poll. Most of you probably know I *HATE* polls and awards because most of the time they are just popularity contests from poorly weighted data. There would need to be some sort of algorithm that would help determine results based on actual real ridership and experience. And that's why I liked Mitch's poll and embraced it. I just don't have the time to produce it myself, but if there was someone who had the knowledge and the time, I'd be willing to help promote it and take it under our banner. There. Now the challenge is out there! -

Golden Ticket Awards 2017

Seriously? I rode both this year as well. Flight of Passage was amazing! Definitely deserved best new ride over a GCI wooden coaster that is similar to several others. I mean, Mystic Timbers is great, but nothing special and not best new ride of the year. Exactly my point. While someone may prefer a coaster to a simulator (I know I do) you cannot deny that Flight of Passage is groundbreaking and does something that no other simulator does. It has not been since Spider-Man originally opened that I heard this much talk over a screen based ride. But the award went to a GCI coaster that is similar to many other GCI coasters. Makes sense. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Mystic Timbers, but I'm not sure it was THAT much different from the first GCI I rode 21 years ago. I've *NEVER* been on anything quite like Flight of Passage before. We just need to have our own awards. -

Again, here is just more examples of how it's such a joke... If you are going to list a major theme park like Universal's Islands of Adventure under "Best Kids Area" and I'm assuming they mean Seuss Landing, I'm sorry but where is Fantasyland at any Disney park? You honestly expect people to believe that Paultons Park's kids area deserves to be on the list but FANTASYLAND filled with such incredible kids classic attractions like It's a Small World and Peter Pan isn't? Dear Amusement Today - The public isn't this dumb. Everyone reading your awards list can clearly see that it's not real. Obviously the only people you care about gaining respect from are other industry members who will pay you, contribute to your publication in some way, or pat you on the back. We understand that is important to you. But also understand that to everyone else reading... seriously, Amusement Today. Your awards are a joke. -

Golden Ticket Awards 2017
robbalvey replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Absolutely! If they actually took Disney Parks into consideration, and the awards were grounded in any sort of reality, IMO the results would look much different. Best Amusement Park –Tokyo DisneySea (although I do think Europa Park is still a wonderful choice) Best Water Park – Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Hell, you could even through Wild Wadi, Aquaventure, or Siam Park in there, too. Best Children’s Park – Disneyland or Tokyo Disneyland or Hong Kong Disneyland or Magic Kingdom or Disneyland Paris. (Seriously, can you think of a BETTER park to take a child to?!?) Best Kids’ Area – Legoland. Any of them. Seriously the entire park is a "kids area" but if you want to single out an area then "Fantasyland" at any Disney park. Friendliest Park – Oh, no way Dollywood. Not after those HORRIBLE and rude operations we saw on Lightning Rod! WOW! And really, just look at what Disney cast members do even during some of the most difficult times: [twitter] [/twitter] Cleanest Park – Any Disney Park. How often do you see a disgusting bathroom, or even the slightest amount of trash on the ground. Every one of the Disney management team is picking up trash all the time! Best Landscaping – Um, hello? Epcot during Flower & Garden? Sorry BGW... Best Food – Um, hello? Epcot during Food & Wine? Sorry Dollywood... Best Shows – Disney's Animal Kingdom. Finding Nemo, Lion King. Both of these are top notch Broadway caliber shows. Best Dark Ride – Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Yay! They got one right!) Best New Ride of 2017 – Amusement Park – Flight of Passage - I mean, this is a ride that takes a genre that everyone is tired of and SHOCKS the world with something they thought they were going to hate due to groundbreaking new technology. Sorry Kings Island. I do like your shed, though. Best New Ride of 2017 – Water Park – Um, how about either ALL of Volcano Bay and if you don't want to give it to Universal for opening up a park that wasn't ready to be opened, how about the new themed attraction at Typhoon Lagoon complete with animatronics? But I get it... the Golden Tickets come from "Amusement" Today meaning "Amusement Parks" and Disney are "Theme" parks. But then why give any nods to Disney at all in your awards? Seriously, Disney is on a whole other level. It's almost unfair and I understand that. But you need to either have them included or not. Because they KILL the competition, and ignoring that when everyone else sees it just proves to me that these awards are not legit. -

It's neither of those. People have to understand, and I've already explained it and I guess it's gone ignored, that the Golden Tickets are more about rewarding those two reward others. There's a lot of "patting each other on the back" that goes on with them. They are not a *REAL* legitimate poll and the results should absolutely be taken with a grain of salt. -

Yeah it probably would make sense, I just honestly don't really like them. I'm not one of those "likes to hear myself speak" type of people. I'd rather be behind the camera than in front of it. So me walking around a park doing a live stream will be about the closest you're going to get! -

I'm not sure it's "throwing a fit" as much as it is the harsh reality of being reminded that the industry is made up more of who can spend the right amount of money towards the correct people instead of efforts and merits being truly rewarded. -

...said no respectable person ever. I mean, I don't really care if enthusiasts agree with these or not. There's no such thing as a "perfect poll" and in the end, they aren't really for us anyways. They mean something to the parks and it's something easy for them to market if they care to. Oh, wow. Thank you SO MUCH for explaining to me what the Golden Tickets were! I mean we had NO IDEA AT ALL! I feel so much more enlightened and educated now that I've read your post. I will be able to go out in the world and have a much better understanding of what the Golden Ticket Awards are now! I cannot thank you enough for that important tidbit of information that somehow we have missed all these years! -

I'll bet if you asked most of the people who voted in the Golden Tickets they wouldn't even know what Flight of Passage is. They probably would think it's some B&M Wing Rider at a Happy Valley park. We really need a new "Mitch Hawker" style poll so we don't have to rely on a "best of" list that is a complete fucking joke.
