Oh. My. GOSH!!! It is absolutely ADORABLE that you think I care.... From this point on, anyone who simply cannot control themselves and just HAS to bring up political issues in a theme park forum will be immediately banned. This is NOT the appropriate place for it and if you cannot understand or respect that, we do not want you as a member here. Have I made myself clear?
-
I literally JUST POSTED a whole rant about people being rude and obnoxious and you go and post this. As much as I'm sure you are all aware we support the LGBTQ community this is NOT the appropriate place to bring up whatever issues you have. Take your drama someplace else. We don't need to hear it. So people should keep their mouths shut when it's been rightfully pointed out that a percentage of guests would have to hide who they are to visit without being arrested? Sounds like some great LGBTQ+ community support there. This thread is about the park and the roller coasters. If you cannot appreciate that and cannot control yourself to not post about political or social issues DO NOT POST TO OUR FORUM. This is not about whatever YOUR personal agenda or drama is. This is about the announcement and the attractions featured in the park. If you want to talk about the social issues in the country, DO IT SOMEPLACE ELSE!!!!!!!! Have I made that clear?
-
Ok so here are my thoughts after spending a day weeding through probably the most "shit posts" we've ever gotten on a video in one day on our socials. It was one of those days where I seriously weeped for humanity not only from the just batshit crazy racist horrible posts I saw, but the extreme amount of stupidity showcased from just about every other post I read. Seriously, I ended up deleting well over 300 posts today and blocking at least 200 accounts across our socials for insanely vulgar, rude, racist, obnoxious and downright stupid comments. Anyway... - NO SHIT that rendering isn't even close to being real! Really, people? You're going to post over and over and over again about that factoid? Oh, I'm SO HAPPY we have you to tell us because we couldn't figure it out for ourselves. Yes, we all know that rending isn't real... But here's what **IS** real.... - Qiddiya obviously wants to built a park and they want it to be HUGE. - They haven't already spent probably hundreds of thousands to millions on planning, partnerships, designs, and presentation assets if they weren't serious about building the park. - While that coaster video may not be anywhere near representative of the actual coaster layout, here is what it DOES represents: The park wants to build the fastest, tallest, longest roller coaster in the world. That's not totally out of the realm of possibility, especially when you have a ton of money to put behind it. - I know everyone is skeptical because we've seen so many parks in the UAE get announced and not happen... BUT... at least three major park projects DID get built! Yas Island attractions, Motiongate area, and IMG World are not small projects by any means and they did actually happen. - Remember that Six Flags Dubai was cancelled after THREE OTHER full-sized parks were already built on that property. - Saudi Arabia doesn't have ANY park like this at all. So it was 100% feasible that this may happen because it does fill a void in that country. There are days like today where I honestly do not understand the "roller coaster community" and have zero hope for humanity. A brand new park gets announced with plans to build some seriously CRAZY looking rides. And yes, it is fine to be skeptical. It's fine to ask questions. But why all the rudeness, racism, and horrible posts? WHY??? There is literally NO REASON for some of what I witnessed today. NONE. But this is the world we live in. And it is really sad. I have no idea if this park will ever get built or if I'll ever go to Saudi Arabia when it does, but I have no reason to make horrible mean-spirited comments about something that clearly has funding, has a location, and has people who are working RIGHT NOW on this project. Why can't so many other people see that as well? /end rant.

What the fuck does this even mean??? You know what, I don't even care. Banned from our page for being an obnoxious asshole. Again, I want to make sure that it is VERY CLEAR... You are NOT BEING BANNED for "having an opinion" you are being banned for being an obnoxious asshole. -
You're being just as rude as he was, and at least HE HAD A POINT because you obviously didn't pay attention to the video. Seriously why can't people just take personal responsibility for the stupid crap they post instead of turning around and being assholes about it while trying to deflect blame onto someone else?
-
FYI - I apologize to anyone who commented earlier and your post was deleted, but we have said ad nauseam to please PLEASE not make "announcement posts" for a major announcement until the admins have had a chance to do so. All it does is cause the admins to have to do MORE WORK and it doesn't make the person who makes the announcement post look any "cooler" in our eyes, in fact, they were banned this morning. So please... PLEASE... I beg of you... WAIT for us to make announcement posts. Thank you.

Six Flags Qiddiya Unveils Park Design https://content.sixflags.com/qiddiya/ RIYADH, 26 August, 2019: Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) today unveiled the design for Six Flags Qiddiya, one of the key entertainment facilities in a new city that is being built just outside Riyadh, and is destined to become the Kingdom’s capital of entertainment, sports and the arts. “Our vision is to make Six Flags Qiddiya a theme park that delivers all the thrills and excitement that audiences from all over the world have come to expect from the Six Flags brand, and to elevate those experiences with authentic themes connected to the location. As a place that will create indelible memories and moments of delight, telling stories that resonate with our guests is a central notion that will be evident throughout Qiddiya,” said Michael Reininger, Chief Executive Officer of QIC. Six Flags Qiddiya will be one of the key entertainment features in Qiddiya’s first phase when it opens in 2023. The rides and attractions found in each land have been designed exclusively for Qiddiya and include many that will set world records. “The Six Flags brand began in 1961 when we opened as our first park, Six Flags Over Texas, which was themed according to the six flags that once flew over Texas. At Six Flags Qiddiya, we return to that heritage by creating six immersive lands designed for Saudis of all ages who seek family entertainment experiences steeped in their rich culture and history. We are thrilled to be part of a project of such scale and scope and are proud to celebrate this milestone with Qiddiya,” said David McKillips, President of Six Flags International Development Company. Six Flags Qiddiya will cover 32 hectares (79 acres) and feature 28 rides and attractions across the six lands: The City of Thrills, Discovery Springs, Steam Town, Twilight Gardens, Valley of Fortune and Grand Exposition. The Citadel is the central hub of the park. It is covered by a billowing canopy form inspired by traditional Bedouin tents. It holds a variety of shops and cafes and transforms into an interactive show space throughout the day. From here guests can pass through gateways to enter each of the themed lands. The City of Thrills is the embodiment of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030: a forward-looking, boundary-pushing, future city anchored in Arabic design motifs. Here visitors will find Six Flags Qiddiya’s most recognizable and anticipated thrill rides. The Falcon’s Flight, inspired by the Kingdom’s iconic raptor, will be the longest, tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, while the Sirocco Tower will break more records with the world’s tallest drop-tower ride. Discovery Springs reflects Qiddiya’s unique and timeless relationship between the desert and the sea as its collection of rides and experiences play with elements of earth and water. It is an aquatic wonderland of waterfalls, aqueducts and geysers, as well as exotic plants and trees. This oasis offers visitors relief from the summer heat by creating the feel of a dense rainforest in the middle of the desert. Visitors to Discovery Springs will discover a first-of-its-kind interactive ride called the Sea Stallion, where riders are propelled over rivers, behind waterfalls and through trees along a custom-designed course, as they control the speed and acceleration of their horse. Steam Town is where the past and future collide in a rugged frontier town that is powered by steam and echoes with screams. Themed around mechanical marvels and a collection of dynamic contraptions, the land’s signature ride is the Iron Rattler Mine Train. On this ride the best elements of a roller coaster are linked with a dark ride to create a hydraulic lift which releases passengers into a freefall plunge through a narrow, steam-filled mineshaft. Other key features of Steam Town include the Sawmill Falls Water Coaster which combines a roller coaster track with a splashing boat ride, a spinning mechanical ride called the Bull Rider and a custom-themed climbing structure called the Treehouse Trek. Twilight Gardens is an oversized landscape of the imagination filled with colorful flowers and friendly creatures, all specially designed for younger visitors and their families. This enchanted land’s key features include the Twilight Express Coaster, which takes passengers through a majestic garden, the Critter Chase, an interactive dark ride set in a 3D environment, and the Kaleidoscope hot air balloon ride. Valley of Fortune is an exciting land of adventure that takes place amidst time-worn architectural ruins of old Arabian masonry, enlivened by the activity and trade of fortune seekers from around the world. This land’s signature attraction is Spitfire, a triple-launch coaster, which will take guests into a sky roll before an acrobatic stall and a breathtaking dive back to the valley floor. Other features of Valley of Fortune include Skywatch, a hydraulic boom ride where riders are lifted into the sky, the auto-themed Treasure Trail and the Aeromax, a family plane ride that swings and rotates freely over the park. Grand Exposition is a celebration of innovation combining the nostalgia of traditional carnival midways with the greatest feats of science and technology such as the Gyrospin Pendulum, which swings riders to record heights. It is also home to Six Flags’ classic and most loved coaster Colossus, a gravity-driven wood-steel hybrid roller coaster that stretches over an 800-metre track. The land also features the Arabian Carousel, where Arabian horses march in a circular parade, the Expo Flyer swinging ride and Automania, with bumper car attractions themed as London cabs. With an incredible mix of rides and attractions throughout six unique lands, Six Flags Qiddiya is set to become the theme park that breaks all records for family fun and entertainment in the Kingdom.

I actually should point out that I don't have a problem with paying for a locker either. My issue though is this... The inconsistency of being told while you wait in the line for the ride that you can use those bins on the opposite side of the train when they have clearly made the decision to stop allowing that and force you to get a locker. That's just poor design and "bad show" and is par for the course for many other similar things I saw throughout my day at the park. If you're going to no longer allow people to use those bins, just re-edit that video. Seriously, I could re-edit that video in FIVE MINUTES so I refuse to believe that a park that wants to be a major player in Europe wouldn't have the capacity to do the same, unless they just don't care, which is exactly what the reasoning is in this example. I've seen the turnstile countdown systems in other countries as well and they are common at the Italian parks. IMO, they have always been a cluster fuck and NEVER can be accountable for reaching maximum capacity on a ride. Here, take a look at this.... Does that look organized? No? Well, you're right. It was just a mess. And these were the ONLY people in front of me when I waited for Hyperion and it took 40 minutes. Those counters on the turnstiles just don't really work. When the counter is down to "3" and yet the next group has "5" nobody goes. And no one with "3" steps up to take those open spots. And because the final queues to board the train are behind closed doors, you really cannot even group yourselves up or even try to fill seats . Almost every train I saw go out had anywhere from 2 to 6 empty seats on it. And when you're only running one train, that's TERRIBLE! It was just so frustrating. -

I would say that if the park was not crowded, I would agree. If all the coasters were a walk-on with no wait, sure I can understand. But just about every single coaster had a full queue. No one seemed to be in a hurry at all. In fact, here's another story I forgot about.... Let me first give you a visual.... So the dude on the right was too tall to ride the coaster and was arguing with the ride ops about it. Instead of taking the dude off to the side and dispatching the train, the ride ops decided to call a manager over. Note the two ride ops LEANING OVER THE COUNTER just sitting there... doing nothing... waiting for said manager. It was like this for about 4 or 5 minutes while the rest of the train was boarded, locked down and ready to go. The manager came over, told the guy he couldn't ride and then finally escorted him out of the station. This is the kind of bullshit crappy operations I'm talking about. At no point was ANYONE in any hurry to dispatch that train and none of the employees gave a shit at all. And I'm not "making up" any of this, nor am I exaggerating. I am reporting my EXACT EXPERIENCE from my day.... and it totally sucked. Oh, and also note the side bins large enough to even hold a decent sized bag that are not being used because you are forced to put everything into a locker that you have to PAY for. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. -

...if you got there early or during a non-peak time. We were smart and went before and after the lunch rushes. But OMG. During that peak time... it was some of the worst operations I had seen at a restaurant making "quick service" be exactly the opposite. Case in point, the restaurant we ate at, it took us about 10 minutes to get our food and there was only one person in front of us. By the time we got our food, the line was out the door, and we were in the restaurant a good 30 minutes and the people at the end of the line still had not ordered yet when we left. -

I am not going to tolerate someone telling me I am "lying" simply for reporting my experience at a park. Banned from our page. Take your stupid drama and agenda someplace else. It is not welcome here. -

Then that makes even less sense of why they built a stupidly long queue area not just once, but TWICE. And like I said, this was my "first" (and only so far) experience at the park and I witnessed poor operations all over the place, which is the main reason why I didn't ride much. I mean, trust me, I tried. I got in line for the SLC. It didn't move. They weren't dispatching trains very fast. I got out of line. Same thing with the Boomerang family coaster. It even took them forever to dispatch the new Roller Skater in the Zadra area when there was NOBODY IN LINE. So while I'd like to believe you that "operations are normally much faster" and that we just had bad luck, I also refuse to believe that we had bad luck all over the park. But who knows...maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised whenever my next visit there is... which honestly, I'm not in a hurry to go back... Seriously, I got in this line for the SLC. I waited ten minutes. It never moved. In that time I watched them dispatch one train. I had zero patience for this bad of operations, so I left. Here is the line for one of the kiddie coasters I didn't ride. But I wanted to at least get some off-ride footage of it. It went one time as I walked up to the ride, and I waited outside the ride for about seven minutes. It never dispatched again in that time. So I left. Same story with the Boomerang family coaster. Full queue... I saw it operate once in about the ten minutes I was standing there, so I left. -

^ Yep, I saw... and I meant to comment on this... That is disappointing to hear that Zadra's queue is the same. I mean, I'm all for parks having nice queues and places to put people so that the line isn't spilling out into the midway making the park look like a mess, but c'mon! That Hyperion queue was absoultely RIDICULOUS! When I think about "unnecessarily long queues" my brain always thinks back to the original Dueling Dragons (RIP) queue and the Hyperion one had to be FIVE TIMES that length. And based on how many people I saw in line and how long it took to get through that amount of people, I can only imagine what the queue would be like if it were full? I mean, there had to be room to fit at least 5,000 people and I cannot imagine that the line wouldn't take, seriously... ALL DAY LONG especially if it took them about 40 minutes to dispatch about 5 trains worth of people when I was standing in that line. And that fact that Zadra has the same thing? That just goes back to what I said before about the poor planning and design of this park. Why wasn't this on someone's radar to "fix" after how insanely stupid the Hyperion line is? Or could it also be that on a crazy busy summer they might ACTUALLY HAVE 5,000 people waiting 6-7 hours in that Hyperion line as they slowly dispatch during a one train operation?
