  1. I have to admit that even though I know better than to panic, especially since Anaconda is one of the only Arrow coasters to my knowledge that has seat belts that attach to the restraints, it still caught me off guard and just seemed odd that ride operators would be so careless.
  2. I made a trip to Kings Dominion this summer and experienced one of the scariest/most careless things at an amusement park I have ever experienced in my life. I was riding Anaconda and they had two attendants who were each checking one side of the train and a third running the control board. As far as I could tell what happened was, the attendant on the left side finished checking his side and gave a thumbs up. The one on the right got half way through the train and tried to signal the man behind the control board to unlock one of the cars. He saw this signal as a thumbs up and dispatched the train with half of the people still not having their restraints checked (myself included). The female who was checking the right side seemed to have frozen/started to panic and had trouble getting the man's attention. After a few seconds the female got his attention and the E-stop was pressed. She finished checking the train and everything was fine, but it sure scared me half to death. Has anyone else ever had a similar experience?
  3. As far as I can tell, CW's profile picture is a different part of the ride and does not show the supports on the lift hill. That being said, yes there is nothing supporting the very top of the lift hill. I'm guessing it's B&M's own version of I305's supports and that the track spine will be thicker than normal to compensate for the lack of support.
  4. Had an awesome day at Hersheypark yesterday. The weather was nice and cool and made for great coaster riding especially at night. I was really pleased to find that the park had installed a fence with windows for viewing the Sky Rush construction site. I didn't really appreciate it until I saw them in person, but the footers for this ride are MASSIVE. And more importantly this ride will continue my favorite quality of Hersheypark, that RollerCoaster Tycoon feeling. What I mean is that when I used to play the original roller coaster tycoon and was confronted with a small park, I would squeeze as many rides into that tiny foot print as I possibly could. I love being able to walk through the park and see at least 2-3 coasters from any vantage point. I have no doubt that when the ride is finally completed they will finish landscaping to the point where you'll think that Sky Rush had just been there forever, just like they've done around all the other coasters. P.S. After riding Storm Runner, front row, around 8:45 when it was about 60 degrees and the sun had completely set, I have found a new favorite coaster. I think that hands down it is a better coaster than Fahrenheit. And the darkness combined with the cold gave me my first experience with motion blur. Not to mention the view of Comet Hollow all lit up as well as Lightning Racer and Wildcat out in Midway America. I could ride that coaster all day and all night.
  5. Although I think the length of the brake run is obnoxious as well, I feel like the reasoning behind it may have to do with the length of the ride and the fact that there is no MCBR.
  6. Here you go eddie: video-embed.pennlive.com/services/player/bcpid619299306001?bctid=1156050390001 Ccron you are completely right. The gross majority of the people getting upset and criticizing Zoo America are probably not residents of the Hershey, PA area. And I truly feel for the Hersheypark staff for having to deal with such a barrage of unwarranted negativity.
  7. Hershey posted a video on their Facebook page from a tour they gave to local press. In it you can tell the extreme speed and force with which the waters rose, mangling enclosure fences and uprooting cement-rooted fence posts in some places. Also in that video it is noted that the Bison were born in Zoo America, meaning that if it weren't for these so-called "negligent animal killers" the animals never would have existed in the first place. Further more these animals weight 1 ton a piece, moving them is a feat which would be difficult when they are in the best of moods. I know that when a bad storm is coming, even days before hand my house pets (dogs/cats) are acting strange and can tell that something bad is coming. I'm sure that the Bison were in a similar state which would have made any serious move of the animals virtually impossible. Especially with the Zoo America staff trying to save ALL the animals in the facility and not just the two bison. I bet that if more time was spent moving the Bison and other animals were lost, everyone would be scolding Hershey for spending so much time on two measly bison instead of spending more time trying to save all the animals. Furthermore, I would bet that at least 75% of all the people getting up in arms about the lost Bison eat plenty of beef for dinner....... "Dear God! Let me put down my triple quarter pound bacon cheeseburger so I can post on Hershey's page how angry I am about these bison."
  8. I wonder if that's the old jet that used to sit outside Escape from Dino Island.
  9. Yes - whale semen. They use 12 gallons of whale semen to secure you in place. I guess I just don't understand your question. How is it not clear how the rider is secured? Did you look at any of the pictures? Are you confused about the grab bar versus the lap bar? Or are you questioning if Gravity Group actually didn't do their homework and made a train that wasn't safe? Hey Robb, is the turn that crosses the bottom of the lift as close as it appears to be? Because it looks like people in the last row are touching it but I can't tell for sure. Thanks.
  10. This is exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for posting!
  11. I'm not promoting anything. There are two new videos showing a whole bunch more of the layout. However I can't link to the videos since I don't have enough posts...
  12. I can't post links yet, however you should all go and search "fuji-q-new-coaster" on youtube and check out the first two videos. Your minds will be BLOWN!!!
  13. What on earth could someone have possibly eaten to vomit up a green and yellow roller coaster?
  14. I agree. As much as I liked the look of GASM it always bothered me that there was a giant open space between the station and the loops. Seemed like wasted space that could have provided some fun vantage points of the coaster.
  15. This makes me think back to my good old RCT days where I would build rides on top of rides on top of rides. All while knowing it probably would never happen like that in real life. I hope to one day to get visit this park with its wonderful mess of rides and bask in all its glory first hand.
  16. I really hope this new B&M creation is a hit so they build more and it eventually ends up in the states. I want to ride one so badly!
  17. What's better than two sexy B&M coasters next to each other in the same park? Two sexy B&M coasters next to each other TWICE in the same park.
  18. Accidents like this seem to happen far too often. Whether it be caused by operator/inspector error or a major design flaw. I remember when I was younger (back in the 90's) at a small theme park in NJ called Bowcraft, a kid fell off the ferris wheel because he was able to get out from under the restraints. And the sad part is that the men responsible will get punishments that don't seem harsh enough considering such a young child lost his life due to their negligence. I really feel for the family of the young boy.
  19. I agree. I love the thought process, "What could be further from Western than Greek Mythology? Oh I know! Screwed up purple Superman that failed English class!" I do appreciate the mix of the well-themed (Plaza del Carnaval, Golden Kingdom), and the random (everything else). But yeah, obviously the main reason I go is for the amazing coaster collection. Your Bizzaro joke was perfect!
  20. I agree, the layout seems to be not as strong with the train to train interaction comparatively to the interaction that GCI has in their dueling coasters. The only element that really strikes me is the high five and that element will only work if the math has been properly done so that the trains consistently arrive together at the element.
  21. I honestly care more about how great the lift hill is going to look, towering over the parking lot. One of my favorite parts of a trip to GADV used to be when I'd turn into the parking lot and see the loops of GASM. Green Lantern should be a rather impressive sight.
  22. Oh I agree completely. The theming makes no sense nor has the theming in that park ever made sense. I mean look at when they added Medusa. It was built in the Frontier section and had "Medusa Mining Company" signs all over the place to make it fit. Yet the ride was bright Green and Purple. Doesn't seem very frontier-like to me at all. It's an awesome ride though, and that's all I've ever really cared about when going to GADV. Plus I actually find the park's theming kinda funny. It appeals to my ADD .
  23. The "Boardwalk" area of the park hasn't had theming that made sense since I first started going to GADV back in the mid 90's. Back then it was military themed, featuring the parachute drop ride, the space shuttle (inverter swinging ship), Escape from Dino Island -- The 3d/4d theater attraction (which featured a fighter jet outside the building), and of course the Great American Scream Machine. Along with GASM the whole area (including the bathrooms) sported Red, White and Blue colors and other military base type markings. If anything it's less odd now that there are two superhero themed rides in that area instead of us Superman. I may be alone in this, but I never went to SF-GADV for the good theming in the park. I'm a coaster junkie and would spend my days making B-lines from coaster to coaster. So I couldn't care less what section of the park they are building Green Lantern. I'm just looking forward to finally getting to ride one of the big B&M stand-ups (My only one so far has been Georgia Scorcher).
  24. I've been following this site for a long time and have yet to post anything on the forums. My friends and I started a Youtube channel to make comedy videos and we're trying to build some interest, so I figured why not share with the TPR community? ADMIN EDIT: Link removed.
