  1. Ditto, this ride is definitely on the coaster bucket list!
  2. HAHAHA I'm right there with you. The one and only time I rode a spinner was Pandemonium at SFNE and I was paired with two kids opposite me who were half my size. I had to sit for half an hour afterwards. I am still intrigued with the style though and I wish desperately that I could ride them without getting sick. I love your name ideas although I don't know that they'd be too pleasing to the GP. *UPDATE* I have tentatively named the coaster HYPOXIA and have make a car texture using that name:
  3. If that helix is accurate I'd dare say this coaster will end up being better than Laviathan.
  4. I've been trying to come up with ideas for the name while working on the car texture. I'm trying to figure out a name with one or two words but the key is for it to be short and punctual. I would love to get everyone's input with ideas. Hopefully it will help bring about something decent.
  5. Honestly, the one and only time I went to IOA I was somewhat underwhelmed by Dueling Dragons. Maybe it was due to my being pissed off from the length of time I was stuck in the queue listening to the same stupid rhymes over and over again. It was cool but I didn't think that the dueling aspect was really THAT interesting. I definitely felt like Hulk was a drastically better ride than DD. So here is to hoping that with the buzz about possibly more B&M launched coasters, that we'll see another coaster just as good if not better at a park which isn't declining to rapidly.
  6. Did you enjoy doing that project? I'm curious because I have a coaster that I'm trying to find someone to make some simple scenery for. Mostly architectural things (station, some catwalks/stairs, and pathway areas). You obviously know your way around 3d modeling (i'm terrible). If you want to know more I can show you pictures. If you're not interested that's cool too, just figured I had nothing to lose by asking. Sure, I'll have a go at it; just don't expect any fancy texture mapping or complex mesh modeling. That's all new to me. I've only messed around a little bit with stuff like Sketchup and Blender. In the past, I've mostly just exported models from AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Inventor. 3D modeling in a CAD program is nothing like using traditional mesh modeling software, but I think Sketchup does the best job of bridging the gap between the two. Awesome! I've been framing out everything for importing into 3d software. Here is a picture: http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt191/UnderCoverDrummer/Gerst-1.jpg Why don't you PM me your email and we can communicate further that way.

  8. Have you ever done modeling for anyone's Nolimits coaster?
  9. It looks to have a similar helix to Goliath SFOG. That helix is awesome and should be made better by the increased height.
  10. I would second that. I could definitely see this design in a park some day. It's definitely worth a shot!
  11. Even though I'd never be able to ride this without getting sick, it looks AMAZING. I think the only improvement that could be made would be to get the seats rotating closer to full speed before they started to raise up. Other than that GREAT JOB!!!
  12. Thanks for everyone's interest! I've been working hard and the supports are done. Here are a couple overview shots as well as the view of the last portion of the ride before the final brakes. Is anyone good at 3D modeling and willing to help with making a station and other scenery? I'm going to be framing out everything with supports for importing into 3D modeling software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I agree, I also didn't understand it what so ever. I get that when the ride first opened it experienced growing pains as did both Mr. Freeze coasters, but by the time alterations to the track started to be made and and the eventual removal of the ride came, I would assume the kinks with the sister coasters had been ironed out (they are still operating). I definitely think that six flags would have been better off spending money not to re-track and eventually demo the ride, but to upgrade/retrofit the ride with improved LIM systems. After all, despite not having ridden it, my knowledge of the ride layout tells me that Dark Knight for Chiller was a grossly uneven trade.
  14. Sometimes I feel like supporting a coaster this compact is a lot like solving a huge puzzle. There's usually only one way that really works and looks good. I thought it would take longer to figure out but I've supported the first helix: A video will happen eventually, I'd rather make one after the ride is finished however if I get to the point of needing a break I may make a short highlights reel/tailer type of video.
  15. I would agree it's a completely nauseating concept and I would never be able to ride it in real life. However there are definitely people who like this kind of ride and it's been fun designing it so far. It doesn't spin as much as you would expect. It still spins a good amount and the ride is always a little different due to the NL engine varying the weight distribution in the car. It definitely is very compact though as my current support work is proving challenging to figure out how to sneak vertical tubes down through the mess of track.
  16. This is my first time posting a ride here on the TPR game thread. This thread didn't exist back when I was big into designing rides many years ago so my last posted rides were on Coastersims (now defunct). This is the first coaster I've actually completed as of late. My idea was to create a Spinning coaster which was taller and longer than any to date, but still fit it within a decently tiny footprint. I'm pretty happy with the results: Track is hand built/hand smoothed. So far no tools have been used and I'm not sure that I will end up using any tools as the track is already pretty smooth. Support work is going to start soon and I have yet to figure out how I'm going to do scenery, but I need to make custom one sided stations due to clearance issues. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
  17. Yes, but I'm just saying what I've been hearing from the GP. Well there is a thread on this forum proving that the GP have no credibility. So who cares what their colorblind eyes see?
  18. Please be more specific. There's several rides that have purple track (or did at one point or how you look at it): SDL, RS, Great Bear, and Wild Mouse. To my knowledge, SooperDooperLooper has only been tan with orange trains and then the blue that it currently is, Great Bear has always been black, Sidewinder was a chocolate brown color until it recently got a new paint job and is a much darker brown, Roller Soaker was a light blue until it recently got repainted and now is currently a darker blue or true blue, and Wild Mouse has never been repainted and has always sported blue supports with silver track. Not sure where your recollection of purple track on any coaster at Hershey is coming from.
  19. My guess would be that B&M weren't sure the coaster would need the MCBR and so they manufactured it to have one if nescessary and then simply left off the hardware when it didn't.
  20. I think the layout, including transitions and airtime hills, is going to be a lot quicker and more forceful than you think. Having seen the construction site in person, the amount of space the main part of this coaster is going to take up, its much smaller than the simulation would lead you to believe. At the height this coaster is supposed to be I think we can expect transitions closer to that of I305 than the Intamin mega coasters of old. Especially considering that the first drop goes immediately into a turn unlike every Intamin mega coaster I know that either fully or almost fully pulls out of the first drop before changing direction. Just my two cents. Take 'em or leave 'em.
  21. The worst two I can think of are Trailblazer at HersheyPark and Batwing at SFA. Trailblazer has a queue which is separated into two halves which appear to be for the front half of the train and the back half, only it's not marked at all and just doesn't work. Batwing enters the station at the end by the front of the train and has ride staff only letting in enough people at one time for each train. Therefore unless you are first in line to enter the station it's virtually impossible to get the front unless everyone before you chooses another row.
