Question regarding the "preview" days on Thursday and Friday for Gold pass holders. Does anybody have any clue as to how they're going to go about letting people in? Is the wall to Screampunk District still going to be up with somebody letting Gold Pass holders in, or is there a separate area they're supposed to enter? They didn't make it clear in the e-mail.

I thought the description for Scream on the website was a little....wrong. "Ever wonder what it feels like to fly through the air, without a plane, a jetpack, or even a pair of wings to hold you up? Well, get ready to get airborne. Scream features a totally one-of-a-kind floorless train design. Look straight down and all you’ll see is the ground or the sky, depending on which direction you’re facing. Since there’s no track over your head or under your feet, riding Scream is exactly what it feels like to fly." ...No track below your feet...except that's exactly what's beneath you, hence the floorless design.

Carowinds Discussion Thread

I was about to ask the same question regarding rain. I'm from AZ and I'm flying into Charlotte tomorrow afternoon. Going to Carowinds for the first time on Friday. I concerned for Saturday too, since Saturday we're hitting SFOG and it's expected to rain there too. I'm staying optimistic though. -
Flat Ride Accident in China

I've never been on a giant frisbee, and while an inverting one sounds like it could be an amazing experience, this story definitely doesn't make it sound promising. I'm curious if HUSS purposely never created a looping giant frisbee, knowing that there could be stability issues. Then again, I have a feeling this may be due to poor maintenance. -
Ride operations really are not that bad. Most rides operate normally. X2 can be iffy at times, but considering it's spring break and the warm season, it should be running. I haven't heard of any problems regarding X2 lately. Goliath may be down depending on whether or not they get the chain fixed in time. Superman only ever runs one side. Some rides will experience "delays" but in my experience, they're pretty good about keeping downtime minimal. I'd recommend hitting one of the big coasters first (Yolo, X2), then work your way around the park. If you start at Yolo, then you can work your way to Goliath and then up towards Lex Luthor, Batman, Riddler, Green Lantern, Apocalypse. If you decide X2 first, then continue up towards Tatsu, up the mountain to Superman, and then down the mountain to the back of the park. It's probably still going to be busy.

Hello all! I'm visiting my friend in North Carolina next month, and we plan on driving to SFOG during the weekend. Specifically, we'll be there Saturday, April 18th and probably the earlier half of Sunday, April 19th. As neither of us have been to SFOG, I wanted to hear from the seasoned experts as to what to hit first, what to avoid, etc. *Note, we do have the Gold Season Pass we purchased at SFMM this past fall, which will allow us the free parking and early entry, assuming SFOG does it too. Thanks!

Hi all! I'm an avid poster in the SFMM Updates page, but next month, I'll be visiting Carowinds for the first time. Specifically, I'll be there Friday, April 17th. As I've never been there, I wanted to hear everybody's recommendations regarding which paths to take, which coasters to hit first, etc. I know Fury 325 is brand new and probably one of the first coasters we should hit, but again, I want to hear from more Carowinds-savvy people. Thanks! -
I'm gonna agree and say both the scenery and the wrap on the trains looks pretty good. The scenery doesn't deviate too far from the sort of mysterious theme of Goliath. And let's face it, this is a MUCH better pairing than seeing those disgusting got2b or whatever the hell hair products were advertised on Viper's trains. SMFH.

I'm sure they survey the structure and determine what's salvageable and what should be replaced. The lift hill, for example, is something they didn't need to replace, especially since there's significantly less stress on the lift hill structure as opposed to any other part of the ride where the forces of the train wear and tear on the structure.

I always found Ninja had a slight thrill factor due to the trees obstructing your path, but that factor is now gone. A lot of the trees have already been missing for some time since the accident, so it's not that shocking. Before they recently returned the second train, it made riding it almost pointless. Anyhoo, I'm ecstatic to see them put up the first inversion. At this rate, we'll see it in the next week or so.

I've experienced headbanging on Riddler before, but had great rides during Frightfest. I'd say the same for Holiday in the Park, except I went that weekend where they decided to lock all the seat heights in place which was miserable. I'm sure temperatures contribute to how rides run too. Back in '06 and '07, the first couple years I ever visited the park, Scream was my absolute favorite ride. It rode smoother than Paula Dean on a stick of butter. On my last ride in December, the amount of rattling down the FIRST DROP was enough to ensure the ride was going to suck, which it did. I'm truly hoping this extended rehab will allow the ride to return to its former glory.
