  1. Riddler has never been painted has it? I must say, aside from some of the blatantly visible metal scratching and oil, Riddler's paint job still looks fairly decent, especially considering it's been around for almost 17 years. Perhaps it's a special shade of green that works well with the sun? #yeahright
  2. Hmm Riddler not operating? That's definitely unusual. There must be something more severe behind it. I understand with some of the weather lately, but I don't think that was the case was it?
  3. ^I would assume just after the new year. Once Holiday in the Park is over, I don't believe there's any other major event before Spring Break. Not that closing Scream! earlier would decrease park attendance by any means, but hey, just logical thinking.
  4. I believe the video said 1987. I always find it strange watching coaster videos from before I was born (1991).
  5. That's awesome news, though it's curious. Many of you have seen the refurbished/new train pieces underneath Scream, but they're the exact same colors. Would they just repaint those as well on-site?
  6. Hey look we made it to 4000 pages! In regards to the fire: Trust me, it was not intentional. I'm pretty sure the park would get major fines for perpetuating a fire, especially in an area that has been exposed to wildfires before. Smokey the Bear says only YOU would believe that RMC did it intentionally. Green Lantern sucks because it sucks. It spins in all the wrong ways and then when you abruptly brake while you're upside down and the restraints dig into your shoulders... I'll pass.
  7. I'm glad you're not running the park, because that's not true at this or any business that charges admission. They make a lot of money on concessions and in-park sales, and the rides keep you in the park longer buying more food, drink, and merch. If the marquee coasters are broken down, I'm going to leave the park faster and the park will lose money that I would have otherwise spent while in the park. Now think about season pass holders - they didn't pay admission to get in, the money they spend in the park is the only money the park is making that day. The more/bigger rides broken down the faster people will leave. This is basic business 101, even SFMM knows this. I'm sure they do care more about X2 being closed than they would say Apocalypse or Scream, it does make a difference in money made or lost. THANK you. I was just about to say this. It's all about the experience. If a headlining attraction is closed, people are less likely to stay and/or come in the first place. It's the same thing with Tatsu running one train during frightfest. I don't think they did it on purpose, I believe it was more of a staffing issue. They were able to get a second train out in the evening once all the kids areas were closed down.
  8. This is true. My amazing rides were indeed in the front row. We went on the back row for our last ride and I don't recall it being bad either though. In the past, the part before the MCBR and the two corkscrews were absolutley killer.
  9. ^I'm surprised you had a bad Riddler Ride. Over the last few years, the few times I went on it, I experienced unnecessary headbanging, however I visited the second to last weekend of FrightFest and experienced some of the best rides I've ever had on Riddler. The night rides in the dark were amazing.
  10. They could easily have a sign for Riddler instead of a pizza place in that last pic!
  11. Not that this really matters right now, but I noticed when I rode Viper this past weekend that the trims after the first loop weren't activated and the trains were flying through the course. Was a nice change! Also Riddler was running incredibly smooth compared to the normal slight headbanging.
  12. I understand where you're coming from, but why not say anything? Let them slip now and they'll continue developing the habit. Then they'll turn into the 20-something year olds who do it without thinking twice. X2 was running fine Friday and Saturday. It was running until about 2:15 on Sunday, and then something happened. We noticed one of the trains on the blocks before the station and a mechanic was looking at it. When we left at night, the train was still sitting there. I wondered if something happened to the train, but if that was the case, wouldn't they just go down to one train operation?
  13. We were given a slip last Saturday morning for YOLO. We also had slips for some of the mazes last Friday night. I appreciate them trying to limit the line cutting. I appreciate them too, but only if they're actually enforced. Speaking of line cutting. The people in front of me on Tatsu just let three people who weren't in line join them. This is so irritating.
  14. ^We just checked and Goliath still has a big line that starts just a short ways away from the l0ck3rs
  15. Whatever happened on X2 today must not be a quick fix. When we came back into the park around 4:45, we saw the signs at the ticket booths listed X2 as "closed today."
  16. it's been a pretty steady day. Not dead but not crazy busy by any means, especially not compared to yesterday. Most of my rides were near walks-ons. I did have to wait a bit for Goliath and obviously Yolo had its typical 45+ minute line. At 2:20 we were on the bridge to X2 when they announced that it was broken down and were unsure how long it would be. We saw people leaving the line and an attendant did not let people enter the line. We went to have lunch instead and will be heading back to the park in a bit. Tatsu started running two trains last night and ran two this morning as well. Apocalypse and Ninja are running one. Scream had two yesterday but only one when I rode this morning. Viper's dispatches were great with no stacking.
  17. This is really a matter of opinion. Most of us here would probably say no. It's definitely forceful and it has quite a bit of height, but I don't think it's scary.
  18. Another thing I noticed today was that when full throttle had a longer line, they started issuing slips to make sure line cutting Did not occur. When it came to us handing our passes, my friend joked that he didn't have one. The ticket collector said "it's okay." My friend still have him his ticket, but what's the point of using these if they don't even implement them. Even if it's just to scare people in like from preventing them from like cutting, it seems silly by the enforce it. What's then to stop someone from line cutting after that instance, knowing they'd get away with it.
  19. The line cutting is ridiculous. In in line for X2 and we constantly see people saving spots for friends or having them use the flash pass line. I'm so annoyed. My friend even stopped someone and told them they couldn't go ahead of us, but he just went under the switchbacks and cut anyways. EDIT: on the positive side X2 team is doing an awesome job with dispatches. One train was out before the second one returned. Second time I noticed minimal stacking.
  20. I came to the park around 7:45PM tonight. We started at X2. Waited about 20 or so minutes. We got a front row ride which was AWESOME. One of the best rides I've had on X2. They didn't have the fire effects or the music going. They did have some odd talking/audio going on but I couldn't grasp what it was. The train we were about to get on was sent out empty because apparently somebody puked. Next we went down to Yolo. We waited about 45 minutes. A little bit before we got to the station part of the queue, they started sending one of the two trains out empty. After about 10 minutes of this, they announced that the ride was experiencing a "delay" and were not sure how long it would take. I noticed they took the train they'd been sending out empty off the circuit and onto the transfer track. Shortly after, they announced it was back up and running with only one train. I saw a couple mechanics looking at the wheel mechanisms on the third car. As usual, it was an amazing ride. It was tough to see from the tears that were forming in my eyes from the speed. Next we walked down to Goliath, assuming it was going to be a walk-on. Boy was I wrong. We waited a good 45-50 minutes in line for a ride. We decided to wait for the front car seeing as it wasn't much longer than the rest of the rows. I tend not to think too much of Goliath, but at night when the lights are all off, this ride is amazing! One of my best rides. On my last two visits, Lex Luthor had been closed for one reason or another, so we decided that would be our next ride, and our first time riding it. That height is INSANE. I was fortunate not to experience the tower shaking as Superman shot up...I don't think I was ready for that just yet. Great first experience. We rode the side facing Scream/Batman. My friend wanted to ride a few more "mellow" rides, so we took a ride on Buccaneer. Then we walked down and took a ride on the carousel. Since Revolution was a skip away, we hit that up too. Let me just say, those of you who think removing the OTSR's would solve that rides problems are crazy. Everything about those trains is awful. The restraints for one, there's almost NO knee space (I'm 6' tall), there's no head padding, there's no seat padding (I could feel the metal digging into my back). No part of that ride is enjoyable anymore, at least not with the current trains. Such a shame. We wanted to find some food to eat, but it was nearing midnight, so we rode Orient Express to the top of the mountain and began walking down the stairs toward Tatsu, hoping to find some food, but everything had closed by then. We saw the line for Tatsu wasn't too long and figured we would just ride it. When we approached the line though, we were informed (by both a sign and an attendant) that the ride was only running one train and that the wait would be about an hour. We decided we would skip it until later this weekend. At this point we just decided we'd leave for the night. All in all, we spent a good 5 hours at the park and had a blast. I didn't notice anything about any of the coasters in the back of the park as I didn't go any further back than Lex Luthor. It was way too dark and foggy to get any photos of TC. I'll be at the park tomorrow and Sunday so I'll take note and potentially take a few photos.
  21. Now I'm second guessing myself. Also, this may sound like a silly question, but you can get to the park without a car, correct? I mean I think it would be silly to be forced to have a car in order to enter, but when I think about it, I don't recall ever seeing people walking up the road into the park. How close are you staying? I see the people walking up and down that hill to get into the park and feel bad for them. I don't mind a walk for exercise (I walk my dog a couple of miles each morning) but the walking at Magic Mountain involves a lot of hills. I'd recommend renting a car if it's close to the taxi/Uber costs. Did you get a gold pass by chance? That includes parking. The most ironic thing about this trip is that, yes, we did get gold passes but we did not come with a car. We ubered from Burbank Airport to our hotel. We're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, and we can see the park from the windows here. Now our biggest struggle is choosing if we want take-out from Marie Callender's or walking to Wendy's. We're probably going to hit up the park in a few hours and get the passes processed, then maybe ride a few rides, then spend all day Saturday and Sunday there. I'll be sure to take a few photos of TC, but probably wont focus on photos that much.

  23. Ah yes, I checked online and they have them for about $15. I was hesitant because we weren't planning on going anywhere else except the mountain for the weekend, but seeing as the rental would be about equal to an Uber ride, I think I'm going to rent one.
  24. Yuppers! Flying into burbank from Phoenix tomorrow! This is slightly off topic, but is there an efficient way to get from Burbank airport to Valencia? We were just going to Uber/Taxi there, but if there's another (cheaper) method, I'm willing to do it, as we did not want to rent a car.
