PortAventura Discussion Thread
coastermaniac1 replied to Shockwave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say so, they are due to start testing anyday now and the trains are now put together. I was reading some of the Spannish forums with a translater some people think it wont open until late June aswell. If this is not open when I am there I will go mad because I am going back to Port Aventura just for this. I am going the last week of June. They hav'nt even started the que yet. Another picture: -

I hope that is'nt true but I am worried that this coaster is going to be delayed to maybe late June/ early July or something like that because there is so much left to do. Alot of the other coasters opening next month are already testing and most of there themeing is nearly complete like Maverick, Desert Race and Griffon and Furius Baco is still working on the station which looks like that there is still a good bit of work to do and I hav'nt seen any pictures of themeing or trees around the layout yet. -

Found a picture of the trains which was posted on the UM Website forums: http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/2991/dsc04293hc5.jpg The trains look awesome and I like the Barrel themeing in the middle of the trains and I really like the colour of the trains and the seats. Testing is starting tomorrow, hopefully while the park is open so people can get pictures and videos and post them on the internet. -
Favorite type of B&M Coaster?
coastermaniac1 replied to MummyAW's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have been on a sit-down, inverted, flying and dive machine. I really like the flying concept and I love Inverters and Dive Machines. But my favourite coaster is a sit down so I am going to go for sit-down. I am glad that there is another being built for next year because I thought that no more would be built since the floorless coaster. I hav'nt been on a floorless yet but sit-down coasters appeal to me more. -
Good photos. Looks like a nice park with some good themeing. The coasters dont look that great though. But I think Hurakan Condor looks way better than Flight of the Phoenix.

Port Aventura Update: Stampida has it's new trains which are said to be comfortable but I dont think the Ridercam is working yet. But the coaster is running slower than usual and I have heard that one of the blue trains which was full of riders valleyed the other day 40ft above the ground. Pictures of the new trains: Furius Baco is rumoured to start testing on the 15th which is this Sunday. A lot of work has been done on the huge station. A few pictures: Parque de Atracciones de Madrid Update: Parque de Atracciones has removed their kiddie coaster "Cumbres" which people over the age of 12 was not allowed ride. The good news is they replaced it with a new kiddie coaster which hopefully adults will be allowed ride so hopefully that will be a new credit. It is a Zamperla family coaster. http://www.rcdb.com/id3848.htm

The ride has all new systems and stuff and with the new trains sometimes none of the restraints would open so it would be sent around again. Not yet unless you can read spannish. But I am sure it happened. It will probally be posted on Screamscape tomorrow. Most of the times I have been on it my restraint would'nt open so I was always stuck for around 5 minutes waiting for some one to come around. I say they will have enough problems when Furius Baco opens next month.

The old trains got into a bad state and half of the restraints would'nt open so they had to go around and open them manually which took ages and was bad for capacity. I am going in June, atleast I already got the 2 credits. It is such a fun ride and I really wanted to ride it with the new trains. I hope it is open when I go.

The racing wooden coaster Stampida at Port Aventura got 4 new Kumbak trains for this season to replace the PTC trains they had. There were a few teething problems when the ride opened this season with the new trains such as the restraints were not opening, they were only running one train out of four and the ride was running slower than usual. The blue train with 24 riders valleyed yesterday 40ft above the ground. Stampida now could be closed for several weeks or even months for extensive work on the new Kumbak trains. Why did Port Aventura go to Kumbak, they had no experiance with wooden coaster trains and the only coaster they built they could'nt get it to work so Intamin had to finish it and fix it. They should have gone to Intamin.

That park looks amazing. Does Black Mamba have SRQ or a fast past thing? Great pictures. Black Mamba looks amazing and the River Rapids look awesome. I want to ride them as much as I want to ride Black Mamba. -

A Simpsons themed ride or area would be cool but not a whole park. -
2006 Park Attendance Figures
coastermaniac1 replied to PKIDelirium's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am not suprised, Walibi World's attendance is only around 900,000 a year which is pretty bad considering the amount of coasters and rides they have. And I cant see the attendance results because when I click on the link only a blank page comes up with a small square in the top left hand corner. Where did Port Aventura come in Europes top 20 list? And what was Europes top 20? -

Tutuki Splash at Port Aventura. You get soaked and it has 2 drops and great themeing.
