After a few delays on our way up and meeting up with Family at a local camp ground we arrived at Santa’s village. It was around 10:45 and the main lot was full. We parked across the street and even then we ended up parking towards the back of the lot. My Family bought tickets while I went in. I had an after hours ticket to use up. The first thing I noticed was the park got a new Rudolf animatronic. It was only saying hello but it was actually talking to people later in the day. The new animatronic has a plinking nose and eyes, its head moves, mouth while talking, and ears twitch. The animatronic Looks great and a nice upgrade to the old one. After my Family got in we made our way to the Yule Log Flume. This is one of the best Flumes anywhere. There are 2 mid course mini chutes and one large drop. But it’s the setting that really makes it stand out. In a vast forested area with allot of trees. There is even forest moss growing on the rides concrete. The water is also a green Christmassy color. We got in line for the Holy humbug adventure. Despite the normally full to mostly full queue, the lines always moves fast and we were on within 15-20 minutes. This is an enjoyable interactive Dark ride. There are plenty of targets so it’s easy for any age. And the scenes are enjoyable. All the gags were working including the bicycle rider on the incline hill which was down on my trips last year. From there we walk around to the Sky way. On out way we stopped and rode the Little Drummer Boy. It’s a Fun tea cup ride. Small foot print but its drum cups are very easy to spin. We got in line for the Skyway sleight. It was our longest wait of the day, around 35 minutes. The ride is a great way to see the park and relax. The wait is normally on the longer side at the park but it’s also one of the longest rides. I bravely volunteered to bring my nice on the Himalaya. My niece simple refers to it as Fast. It’s a Venture mini version just large enough for an adult but not comfortably and hard to get out of do to its solid handle bar. But a fun ride for the kids and a good length cycle. From there I went of on my own because I was the only one willing to ride the parks Ferris wheel. They rehabbed it for this year and it looks fantastic with its new paintjob. It was also moved to a new location up the hill from the reindeer barn and the Flying School ride. The view from this new location is breathtaking. A wonderful change, great idea on there part, it’s like a whole new ride. The operator running this was also on her game loading and unloading with a proficiency I have never seen on such a ride. My parents skipped on the show but myself and the rest of my Family wanted to see it. The show was Once Upon A Christmas. The performers were amazing and Fare more professional then you normally find in an amusement park show. The characters were fun with a fantastic mix of both classic an new songs. They worked Stumpy the animatronic tree is to the show well. I can see why this show was nominated an award at IAAPA last year. I also think they got new snow machines they worked far better then I ever remember. We hopped on the Train and rode it to the other side of the park. Santa’s Express is always an enjoyable ride. I especially enjoy the long bridge along the rides path. From there we met up with the rest of our group at the pixy mix. We got in line for The Antique Cars. This was out second longest wait and they have every car on the track. It too around 20-30 minutes to get on. Thing is the queue is a bit disjointed and most of the waiting line was outside of the station and in the way of people getting of the ride. The ride is another rehab of an original Santa’s village ride. The ride now operates like an outdoor dark ride. The sets are fantastic with little effects going off as you pass. From the flooded road to the Car wash this is defiantly one of the most unique car rides you will ever find. After a relaxing car ride it was time for something a little more thrilling. So we made our way up to Rudy’s Rapid Transit. This is the parks roller coaster, a Zierer Double figure eight, large model. This is a very enjoyable coaster and one of the best Zierer coasters I have been on. A must ride while at the park. They give you 2 cycles every ride and we rode it 4 times throughout the day. We stopped to eat. We opted to get pizza so it was off to Nick’s pizzeria. We ordered 2 pizzas (cheese, sausage and pepperoni), and 4 drinks. Total was under $30 dollars. My sister in law refilled a souvenir cup she bought for I think $8 which got you free refills of soda and Slush’s. I ran into the owner at the restaurant. It was nice to be ask questions about my life(school, work, family) instead of being the only one asking questions. I did get confirmation of the new playgrounds cancellation and that the park won’t get any sort of large scale tower ride. I did bring up the family friendly Moser tower to her though. I also got confirmation that the Jingle Jamboree show is being rehabbed and will return. Some good news was I ran into the owner as she swept up the patio outside of the restaurant. My brother and sister in law also experienced some problems with the toilets in the restrooms. After telling her she was on the phone right after out conversation getting maintenance on the move. Absolutely no delay! After eating my niece and I raced my brother on the red hot Racers water ride. It’s a simple ride but a nice way to cool off on a hot day. What’s a day at Santa’s Village without a meet and Great with the big man himself? As to be expected, there was a bit of a line at his house. We kept my niece busy in the igloo across the way and got her a nail ring from the blacksmith. I got one also. I have so many of those rings. And we got back in line for Santa. Got a Great pic and my brother and sister in law got one as well. Good prices on photo 5X7 for $8 dollars. There was a Santa’s Special with a 5X7 and a snow glob for $15 bucks. My brother got that at Santa’s house and on the Skyway sleight. We got a standard 5X 7 picture at both. In all we spent $46 on photo’s(4) and Snow globs(2). We all went over to the Flume for a last minute ride. We got in just before they shut down the line and they still let a few more people in after they should have denied them, which was nice to see. My niece wanted to go back to the car ride and I wanted to get in a few more rides, since it was getting close to closing time. I was only able to get a couple extra rides in on the Humbug adventure. Without my niece with me I was able to concentrate on hitting targets. I scored in the high 3000s both rides. The day went by too fast but then the park opened at 9 and we didn’t get there till nearly 11. I would have liked to get on the parks SS peppermint twist ride which is very enjoyable. I also would have liked to take in more shows. I missed the Tinkerdoodle Christmas 3D show and temporary show in the Jingle Bell Theater. In all it was a nice day at the park. The weather though cold in the morning wormed up to be a very comfortable day. Staff was friendly and on there game only one small problem and it was a guest fault not the staffs. I hope to get back to the park before they close for the season Columbus day weekend. Since it’s always part of my plan and hopefully will become part of years. Santa’s Village is open for Christmas. no water rides and the coaster is down after snow starts falling. The event is weekends from Thanksgiving to a weekend after Christmas.

We arrived at the park just before 10:30 in the morning. It was the earliest we have arrived at the park this year. But our early arrival wasn’t for that ride rotation of Xtreme Frisbee, the first fun of Cannonball, or the fist shot of Star Blaster. Instead we were there for the memorial of Tom Marrow the parks operation manager. After checking in and being given a pin with black ribbon we walked through the park gates and shoed a few guests to the ball Field were the memorial was taking place. The Memorial was nice. Many friends and co workers were on hand to pay there respects to Tom and his family. I was surprised to see a few park owners on hand. There were a lot of kind words and a final toast of Crown Royal, Toms Favorite drink. After the memorial service we opted to spend the rest of the day at the park. What better way to honor Tom’s memory. So my brother and sister in law bought tickets and I already had one. I used the Family rest room to change. From there we headed for rides. My Sister in law is pregnant so we hit up 2 rides we know she could go on. So the Flume and Mine of Lost Souls was first up. Flume is always fun got splayed by the new water sprayers for the first time. Nice addition gets you a little wet but not drenched. Mine was enjoyable but needs some work. The mine also has hand rails at the exit of the ride. My sister in law grabbed an ice cream while my brother and I hit Frisbee. Good program solid spinning and height. From there we all got on the train and took it to the other side of the park. We hoped on the train and headed to the other side of the park. We were making a point to hit the slower rides at the park. Lake Cruise was the only one we really didn’t hit. A nice ride but I wish they would operate the train a slightly higher speed. We all jumped on the sky ride. I know it’s not that long but the ride does take you over and past some of the parks rides. It’s a great way to get off your feet since it’s a longer ride time wise then most of the flats. The performers from Fly were out front climbing on the star and doing small stunts. They do this to draw people to the show. I made myself known to a couple of them and took a few shots. The show, our last of the season, was enjoyable. There were a few changes since Chad was off that day. Della did s short segment in his place. The shows lighting had been reworked. It was much easier to see this time around. Took a lot of pictures but can only do so much with the camera I have. Talking to the performers after the show mostly Francesca. They hope to be back. If they are they want to add to the fly show. There was a mention of a trampoline run. Well we walked through Boston and got splashed by the tea party line was a bit long so we skipped it. From there we headed up to watch CL5. Dan wasn’t feeling well today so the show was shortened and Francesca performed a song as well, Ashley Simpson’s “L.O.V.E.” which seemed to get a good response from the audience. We talked to the performers a bit more after the show again. We had Dinner at Portafinos. Ordered a whole cheese pizza, I refilled my mug, and they each got a drink. It all came to something around $20 bucks. Pizza was good but not as good as normal. Wasn’t the twisted crust normally at the restaurant. But it’s getting to the end of the restaurants season so it’s to be expected. It was Thursday and the Canobie Talent Search was that night. So we walked over to the midway stage and staked our claim early. Since there was some time my brother and sister in law stayed at the stage while I hit a few more rides. I made a quick loop going on Psychodrome, Skater, and Caterpillar. I got back to the stage as they were finishing up interviews with the preview winners. They did one more competition that night. A Young girl from Nashua won. After reintroducing every one they started the final’s round. The competitors ranged in age from 8-21 and from locations as far away as Ohio. All the winners had something to offer but some there talent showed there age. But as they get older and stick with it will be worth seeing. While most of the performances went off with little problem there was the occasional missed line. Nerves were high but most were able to overcome it all and strive. The winner was a young girl with an unbelievable voice. Alyson performed “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” the version from American Idol. The performance was fantastic, left everyone in ahh. She won the Canobie Talent Search award for 2007, a limo ride to a recording studio, recording time to record a demo CD, and one of her songs will be played on 93.9 The River. One big thing about her song choice is I was told by my brother that Tom had a nick name of the Great and Powerful Oz. We watched the Last show of CL5. We were hoping to see the laser but it wasn’t operating that night. We meet up with the shows performers and said out goodbyes. We wished everyone a great off season and hope to see at least some of them park next year. My sister in law was tired so we made our way to the exit. I hoped on the Round up as my Final ride for the night. One strange thing is they are now having you load and unload on the same side. Why I have no clue in the long run it will only bring down capacity. but I enjoyed my ride none the less I took a few shots of the Frisbee at night before leaving. We were getting in the car as they announced they were closing for the night. We were able to make it out with little traffic. In all it was a day of mixed Emotions. The Memorial survive was nice. And maybe it was the tone of the day but the day seemed like it was just barley missing something. The weather turned out to be great it was a pleasant surprise to catch the Canobie Talent Search that day.

Story Land August Photo TR
mrceagle replied to mrceagle's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Glad you enjoyed the trip report. I try hard to get good shots for the reports and spend allot of time cleaning them up to present as good a shot as possible. New england has many hidden park treasures. Keep an eye out for my Santa's Village TR coming up soon. -
Since I already had Family going I thought it would be nice to take another trip out to Story Land in Glen, NH. I drove up to Meredith and met up with my family, and traveled with them the rest of the way to the park. We were delayed a bit do to Construction on the kangamangus Hwy. We arrived at the around noon. The parking lot was nearly completely full and there was a line to get in. Luckily we were able to get right in through customer service since we had season passes. Since I got up early and headed right out my first stop was The Pixie Kitchen to get lunch. I Ordered Chicken Fingers, Onion Rings, and a Large Souvenir cup. The mean ran me $9.49 after tax. The sun was shining it was a Very nice August day. August is bug time in New England so the park was alive with Buzzing bees and Fluttering Butterflies. It added to the lays enjoyment and for some great picture opportunities. We opted to ride the Polor Coaster first. The line was better then previous waits but still 15 minutes, a great family coaster with a fantastic helix finale. This was more of an extra trip to the park so rides weren’t on top of our list. We simply enjoyed the park. Allowed me to take a good amount of pictures of the additions around the park that truly makes it great that aren’t ride. The ponds and natural landscape have been worked around Instead of simply modifying them for the parks needs. We made our way over to the Bamboo chutes Flume ride, always a worth while wait. Though the queue was full and well overflowing the wait was only 15 minutes. Got a larger splash at the end then I expected and came off fairly wet. From there we made our way up to the Farm area of the park and Ride the Tractor ride. The full name is Henrietta’s Egg-traordinary Tractor ride. A nice track guided ride with allot to look at. They even have real plants on top of the Themed ones. The peter piper peppers are coming in nicely as are the pumpkin coaches. We walked down To the Oceans of Fun area and my family stopped for a hotdog. My nice played in the sand castle and after we ate my niece and I rode the flying fish. This is a flying scooter ride from Larson. A fun ride and great for the park but it likely won’t appeal to enthusiasts too much. My brother and I ht the Los Bravos Silver Mine and Tea cup rides while my Nice, parents, and Sister in law went up to the little dreamers play area. The mine is a walk through attraction with part crooked house and part fun house/mine. It’s one of the most unique attractions you will find. Alice’s tea cups is a traditional Crazy Daisy ride. Since there was time left and my nice wanted to hit the tree house play area, I went of on my own. I hit the Cuckoo Clockenspiel. I made a point of hitting the Polor Coaster a couple more times, and finished my day with the after hours final run of the Rail road. This is a nice touch since you can sometimes hope on the train in the back of the park and ride it to the front. And it’s a nice last ride of the night. In all it was a great extra trip to the park. I hope to make at least one more before they Close Columbus say weekend. On a side there is no word on any new additions for next year ride wise. They may only be upgrades to the park they need more food locations. In fact the only complain I heard all year was during this trip and it was do to wait time to get food.

Funtown Fest is a 1.5 day long ACE New England help event. Funtown Splashtown USA in Maine is were it all takes place. I arrived for my after noon shortly before 7:00 after spending some time at Nearby Palace Playland. Got checked in and meet up with a few friends. The sun was going down ERT was right around the corner. We did a quick ride on Excalibur before hitting a few other rides. Astrosphere was a top f list ride. We stopped to eat and talk. No one was that worried about rides since we had all day on Sunday. We got in a night ride on Dragons Descent as it was closing. they shut some of the lights down. It’s a fantastic ride and such a good view from the top. I could see the city lights in the distance. It’s very tranquil until you plummet to the ground. The end of the day was all about ERT on Excalibur. I did well stopped and babysat so my Friend and his wife could ride a couple times together. In all I got 18 rides in that night. Best of all was last right of the ERT. Already double rides we cam into the station, they slide us through with loud cheering. As we enter after our third Circuit we rolled through the station to Thunderous applause and howls for a fourth and Final ride of the night. It was Midnight and I said good bye t a couple of Employees I wouldn’t see again this weekend. We walked out the Maintenance exit by Excalibur to get out. Then it was off to my car for a 2.5 hour ride home. I got 4 hours of sleep and it was time to go back. We got to the park just before morning ERT time. We walked into the Maintenance are by Dragons Descent and walked down to Excalibur. We had ERT for 9-10. I was able to get in another 8 rides in the morning and 12 throughout the day. Galaxy was out first time for the operating day. We had a good group so the baby pass-off and extra runs got me a couple rides in a row. I hit Galaxy a total of 6 times since it may be gone next year. The parks Astrosphere was next in line. The ride is easily the best indoor dark ride out there with lights, lasers, projection, strobes, black lights, and a great sound track. One of the best rides in the park I made sure to get a few rides in during the day. I got 5 rides in. Though it was too cold I took a walk around the water park, Splashtown, to see the new slides I wanted to get some use out off the multi pass. The 2 new slides look great. They added allot of lounge space and connected the water park to the 2 food stands in that area which was a good use of resources. We walked over to the rides are by the entrance and took a spin on the Barney’s Cars. It’s a nice car ride the cars are not your traditional antique cars which is nice. The layout is a bit small but wraps around that particular ride area. We then hopped on the Balloon Farris Wheel since it’s in that same section. We skipped the bumper boats. Most of the day was spent talking with Friends and fellow ACE members. Our group had been big but it was getting smaller my brother and Sister in law left. Dave who shared many memories form the TPR trips he’d been on needed to leave soon so it was off to the Flume as a last ride for him. Dave left and it was Down to 2 Ace members their son and I. We opted to Jump on roulette. A nice ride and they give you a good cycle on this one. His wife and I went on Astrosphere again since she was watching her son on the earlier ride. We talked about parks while in line and Family inline Commented on my Canobie Star blaster shirt. They take 2-3 trips a year to Canobie, would be more if Canobie had a season pass. So I talk them about the pre season Sale passes that can save them some money. Astrosphere was good but not as good as the other operator that day. They had to leave after that. I took the opportunity to take in a few rides no one else wanted to. First up was the parks Tea Cup ride. This is a make tea cup ride. The Spinning movement is good and very forceful. Bu the cups are nearly impossible to spin unless you get a good one. Ride defiantly needs a refurb. I hit the Rides along the back tree line: Sea Dragon, Standard model with a nice Fountain around it. Thunder bolt, a Chance Flying bobs, nothing amazing a bit slow but they run it forward and backward so it saves itself there. Flying Trapeze, it’s a chance YoYo nothing too amazing but a nice ride for the park. I walked the park having been on nearly everything. Played some skeet ball which was a rip off. The ball count was short and the ticket setting really high so you could normally only get 1-2 tickets. You needed 26 tickets to get a small prize. Notices all the games were overly expensive almost nothing under $2 dollars. It was hot but my brother drove of with my bathing suit and unfortunately my phone as well. I went into Splashtown, took some more photos, and used one of the water features on Portland Pirates paradise to cool off a bit. I would have bought a bathing suit but not at $22 dollars. If they were say $15 maybe even $18 I would have. I watched a band that was performing that day to fill time. I opted to hit the Go carts since I had some time before my brother and sister in law got back. So I hoped in line. It took maybe 10-15 minutes to get on. The ride is OK but nothing special. The go carts aren’t in great shape. My car floored driving very defensively couldn’t catch up to the cart in front of me that was bouncing around the corners slowing it down. When my family got back it was basically a last few rides. Flume, Astrosphere, and a couple last rides on Galaxy since it’s up for sale. We grabbed fried dough and wrapped up our day. Overall it was a nice weekend and Funtown has grown a bit since my last trip. It’s cleaned itself up slightly also. But they still have a bit more to do. This is a park with allot of Potential to be a great park. Hopefully one day it will get there.

Multi Media Holiday World Report
mrceagle replied to spaceace12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow a sea of trash cans. Di they think they have enough! -
Since I was going to be in the area for the Funtown Fest event I figured I’d Stop By Palace Playland at Old Orchard Beach Maine. I didn’t need to be at Funtown Splashtown till at least 5:00 so I had plenty of time to check out this small beach side park. Since I arrived at the park at 1:00 I have plenty of time to enjoy the park. I bought an all rides bracelet for $26.95 POP. Since it had been a while since I have been to the park I had 5 new rides in store for me. Which was my main reason for coming today. A new building had been built with apartments and businesses. The face of the area has changed quite a bit. Drop Zone was first on my ride list. It’s a moderate sized drop tower. It had am interesting wrap around 12 seat car. The ride however wasn’t all that good. The movement wasn’t anything special and the drops only OK. No better then the frog hopers. The only thing that saved it in any way was its extra height. Adrenalin was next up. New for 2007 the ride is a Technical Parks Street Fighter. I got 2 rides in throughout the day. I tried to get a 3rd but the new operator said I was too big and wouldn’t even let e try after informing her I had been on twice before. The ride was reasonably good. Powerful spinning and a good height on the swing but the cycle was really short. Making a circle I hoped in line for the Galaxy roller coaster. I was on after a very short wait. It’s an enjoyable coaster. I hadn’t been on once since Canobie’s. The coaster was reasonably smooth and fit well into the compact park. I took 4 rides before leaving. Moby Dick was next. While this have been at the park for some time not it was another new ride for me. It has a solid RPM speed. It’s gives good Lats as it spins without being too bad. It’s an enjoyable ride and one of the few more adult rides in the park. Orient Express was next up. This is the parks second Coaster, a Wisdom standard model. The coaster is absolutely terrible. Though it is operating better then the last time I rode it. The helix of the hill is too small and the ride rough. The train is bounced by the wheels on the lift hill. If you need the credit take a ride but otherwise skip it. I hoped on the Tilt-a-whirl and took some pics of the park. The Tilt-a-whirl runs well and they operate a long cycle. But it’s hidden in the back corner behind a few kiddie rides. But make sure to seek it out on your visit. Power surge was next. This is the best one I have been on. The ride operates well I get a few flips and the ride tends to stop you in the right direction. It’s an enjoyable ride and a Great addition to the park. It’s my personal favorite thrill ride in the park. While on the power surge I saw Ashley who posts on one of the sites I’m on so I stopped by and talked to her. I lucked out and caught her on her brake. We talked about Palace and Canobie. Talked allot about the new rides at palace. I talked to her again after I had Dinner on her way out. Keep up the good work Ashley! Since it was closed on my last trip I hit the Funhouse next. It was enjoyable but not fantastic. Some of the gags weren’t working right. I thing they could use up less space and have a better attraction recycling this into a home made funhouse with a new buildings. Hoped on the SunWheel next and got a few shots of the park and the board walk from the sky. Nice ride but the wind that day was cold so it was hard to really enjoy it. The Carousel was next. This attraction really aggravates me. They have a chance Fiberglass carousel. It’s ok nothing special but they used to have a wood carousel. They have a band organ not operating by the entrance yet they play music from a CD. A big disappointment and something they should have never done. This is one of the places they could have done better. I went for the walk on the board walk and checked out the few shops. Nothing special! The shops are Gimmicky and it was a bit crowded. The board walk is really not wide enough with al the shops and food stalls added. This staple of the area for more then a hundred years is mostly a home for a large bar at the end of the pier. I was getting Hungry and after scoping out prices I thought I should look for something else. I hit the Tri Star ride which is one of my favorite in the park. I hit YoYo, and Matterhorn before eating. All three rides were operating well. The YoYo and Matterhorn were looking great. They both looked to be recently painted. 2 of the best looking example of there rides I have ever seen. I donated some money to Special Olympics and asked the guy collecting money if he could recommend a good restaurant within walking distance. After a little thought he recommended Strike Zone, a small bar and grill just a block up on the right. The food was fantastic one of the best calzones I have ever had. It came with sauce which I normally need to ask for. The got a soda to go with my meal. In all my meal cost me only $10.61 and I gave a $3 dollar tip to my waitress who was very friendly. The place in itself was very nice with friendly staff and though new already some loyal customers. I would definitely recommend it if your stopping by the park or staying in the area. When I got back to the park I hit a few of the milder attraction first. Hit the funhouse again. I hoped on the Dodgems, bumper cars, which were fun but not great. The bumper cars are one the only germinant attractions at the park. I rode the Cascade Falls, flume ride, next. It was worm out and another slower ride wouldn’t hurt. The ride is much better with one rides then 2-4. You tend to be thrown a bit when you hit the water. I enjoyed my ride and did get a little wet. Just enough to cool down! I rode the Euro Slide next which Ashley was operating. I took a run. It wasn’t waxed right. I was told it rained the night before and they hadn’t been able to rewax it. None the less a very good looking slide but there not really my thing. I talked to Ashley a bit longer before she had to leave. It’s always nice to put a face to the username. I took a ride on Bear Affair which is a tea cup like ride. I had heard reports it wasn’t easy to spin I experienced the complete opposite. The bear spun easily and kept its rotation reasonably well. A nice ride but it could look better Since I had to be to Funtown before Seven I went around the park and hit a few last minute rides. Power Surge and Galaxy a couple times. Walked around and figured I should get a couple more rides on the Tri Star before leaving. While waiting for a last minute photo I saw the Pirate Ship suddenly burst into motion. I got the shot I wanted and headed over. This was another previously none ridden ride for me. I though I was going to miss it. Boy did I luck out! It was one of the best Pirate ships I have been on. It looks fantastic and the movement is very good. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to ride. Well I was out of time and needed to get to Funtown. So I bid ado to palace Playland with a few good memories to take home.

Lets just hope there was work going on behind those Boards. But to a new comer The park look nice. with an OK ride selection.

Canobie Lake Park 2007
mrceagle replied to mrceagle's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They are using a small local Company. the show have been getting better each year they have had them. but the shows aren't too bad. a nice way to spend a day or to just relax after walking and standing in line. -
YA that Joker Mask is Frighteningly Unrealistic.
-
The trees and landscaping look nice. and they seem to have spots they can add attraction too. Hopefully next year will see a lot of paint and an improved park.
-
Thanks for sharing your day. Did you try and catch any shows since the ride likes were long? Thanks for sharing the great pics.
-
One of My main reason For Visiting Canobie lake park on August 4th was to see the shows. I watched every show the park had to offer. I watched some shows twice. But here are reviews and photos form the shows. CL5 - This is the parks modern day show. Hip hop music and dancing. The show is much better this year then it was last year. The dancers get some time to show off there stuff which makes the show a bit more exiting not to mention human. The music is performed by a single individual, Dan Sky. He wan the Mattie Idol last year and is on MTV’s Making the Band. I wasn’t thrilled. He’s a good singer with the right songs but overly stretches himself. The music selection is ok but not great. They top songs just not the best selection on them. Sgt Fitness - The parks Family kids show. Good for the most part. I missed the opening song which was the only one in it. The show slowed well and was fun to watch. Not the best show but the kids took to it well. You’re taught to SEE. Which means to Sleep Eat right and Exercise to be healthy. They ended with YMCA playing and inviting anyone who wanted to up on stage to dance it. Soul Man - This show was a Blues brothers inspired show. I saw it twice. The first show had a deferent person then normal and the second show Dan was back. I think this was the surprise show of the day. There was a lot of fun music that everyone seemed to know and very energetic. The First show I saw was the better of the two. I don’t think Dan was right for this show. Defiantly not his kind of music. He was as the other to very energetic and made the show very exiting. The other performer (also in Sgt Fitness) is the star of the show. He gets to go while and have a good time. Well worth watching. Soul Man with Dan Sky: Fly - Is this year’s Star attraction taking place in the Dance Hall Theater. It’s a artsy circus show not too dissimilar to that seen in Circ Du soleil. The show was very enjoyable with yet another upgrade in the sound system and lighting for the dance hall. The show starts slightly show and feels a little short. But that doesn’t make it a bad show. The performers are very good showing of there Strengths in grand Fashion. The only big complains I have with the show is one part of the show you have 2 performers doing silk Dancing. The backlighting makes it difficult to see and they perform deferent stunts at the same time. This makes it impossible to see the whole show. Also the Drumming at the beginning was a bit too laud for the venue. I don’t think it really added anything to the show either. On my second viewing I sat next to a family who was there to see there son. He performs the blocks and acrobatic stunts. Chad did a great job and was very enthusiastic at both shows. I talked to him after both the shows. I also told him I’d likely mess up his name. So I have to give a shout out to my acrobat buddy Bill! Saturday night Fireworks - Is a staple of summer at the park. This year’s Fireworks were very similar to last year. They used one song. The song was the Overture form Pirates of the Caribbean. The show was good used a good mix of high and Low height pyrotechnics. It was reasonably well choreographed. But it could have been better. Not bad for only the second year using a computer system. They would also profit from the addition of more Speakers to better hear the music. I walked passed the Canobie Ramblers a few times while they were playing but I didn’t stop to listen I did on my last trip. They are worth stopping and listening to if you have time. They play all season long.

Glad you liked it. I have a Canobie 2007 shows Report with pics coming up soon. -
Given I had 4 tickets left to use by the end of the year I made plans to visit Canobie. I went alone since every one else is busy. I ended up leaving at 10:00 and got to the park at 11:15 just after opening. The parking lot was already ¾ full when I arrived. Since I had my ticket I just walked right in with no delay. The first thing I noticed is that the park got the new cover over the claw game and the photo cart has been set up to the left. They still have room for another addition between the two. They also added new fencing around it that looks great. My first ride of the day was Frisbee. The Queue was full. So I hoped in line and 30 minutes later I was riding. I talked to a Family in back of me that had traveled from RI. Canobie seemed to the RI destination spot today because I ran into 3 other Families that have traveled from RI to spend the day. The ride was operating a program Similar to Tomahawk. Solid ride with good forces! The girl sitting next to me had never been on one before and was a bit freaked out. The park also moved the Speakers onto the scaffolding but you still couldn’t hear then on the ride while it was running. Since I was by myself and didn’t have to make anyone wait I hoped on Corkscrew. I normally end up skipping it. The coaster was running pretty good this year. Some shaking heading into the first corkscrew but smoothed out after that. Much better then last year! They switched over to the black train this year which could be part of the reason. I jumped on the Dragon coaster on my way to so Boston Tea Party since I was hot. I hoped in line 20 minute wait at that point but I got to skip 2 cars filling a single spot. The line moved quickly and I talked to a family who were at the park for the very first time, already good opinions. They were up form Worchester. I hoped on Ocean trip since it had just been repaired and reopened. The ride is running so much better. Smooth movement and you get some solid sensations now. Well worth a ride. it is a Family attraction and not really thrilling but very enjoyable. Call it a strange goal but I wanted to get pics of all the games in the park. So a bit of time was spent doing that. Many of the games have been rehabbed over the last few years and the booths repainted this year. The park has less then 30 games which isn’t too bad. The games should ever outnumber the rides in my opinion. I even spent some time playing them. I played Video Poker in the jackpot and Skeeball at the main skeeball building. The Canobie Mall also received some addition this year. On top of a larger Men’s room and the New Gables Grill eatery the park added 3 games to the Mall. They also added a new Ramp for wheel chair and stroller access to the mall form the side. The day was extremely busy. I didn’t get on much. Between shows I tried to hit rides. After watching a first set I made rides a bit more of a priority. I got in line for Mine of Lost Souls. On after an hour wait. This is were I meet up with one of the RI visitors I talked about earlier. I hoped on Pirata with a 3 cycle wait. The ride is operating much better then the last few years. Though the Quality of ride Suffers do to a bad Cycle. 2-3 more full height swings would make a huge deference with this ride. At 45 riders a load I don’t see how it could hurt either. I walked along the back and Castaway had a line of People waiting to get in. I hate the idea of Canobie having a water park but they need to do something. A few more High capacity attractions couldn’t hurt. I continued to walk the park skipping rides since the lines were long. Gave up and Hopped in line for Cannonball. It was about an hour wait the 2nd CL5 show was going taking place on the midway stage. I talked to a couple teens to make the time in line go faster. They were very found of Canobie over other local parks which always make me feel good. The ride was running smooth and fast. I got a back seat ride which is always a plus. Star blaster was next on the list. 30 minute wait but I got to skip a bit filing an open spot. There were no short lines. So I opted to have Dinner. Since I was eating alone I opted to go a bit more extravagant then Pizza. I went back to the Dancing Bear in the Far back of the western area. Took 10 minutes to get in and order. I got the Petit Rib Dinner with Stack fries and a refill of Soda. Cost me $11.00 Dollars. Since it was cook to order I watched the Soul man show again this time with Dan Sky not as good as the first show. That got over in time for me to get utensils and sit down before my food was out. Good food, 6 reasonably sized beef ribs, Cup of Very good BBQ sauce, a good portion of Stack fries, and coleslaw which I don’t eat. I enjoyed my meal a lot. This Photo Booth used to be located in kiddie land. Lines were still bad so I Simply made my way back to The Dance hall and got a seat for Fly. After fly I talked to Chad and his Family. After that I walked around looking for a slow line. This didn’t happen. Lines were so bad on the eastern side of the park even Vertigo Theater has a 1 cycle wait. It was dark and I just needed to buy some time before the Fireworks at 9:30 that night. Iran into a few managers and Asked if the park was going to stay open an extra hour which it was. I brought up a few more Concerns with the games. I then watched the beginning of the last cl5 show. I actually only wanted to see the lasers. Before the fireworks I got another refill and fried Dough. That Ran me $5.25 total. Not too shabby. I got a good Spot by a barrel planter right at the rope so I could see the fireworks. After the fireworks guests were leaving in droves. I ran into Carl Berni and talked to him allot about the park. We discussed both present ride and Shows. We also talked a bit about coasters and companies. After talking to him I hit Skater, Caterpillar, and since Cannonballs like had been Closed I Slid into Star blasters line right as the attendance shut the gate. After a great ride on Star blaster I walked slowly to the front grabbed some night shots. Before I left for the night I walked out of the Gate at 11:25 and there were still around 100-150 people waiting for the shuttle busses. The Park has an alternate lot they use on busy weekends and bus guest back and forth. Busses arrive every 15 minutes. Overall it was a fantastic day. I got to see the shows, talk to allot of people form all over New England, and hit a few rides. It was hot and very crowded but it was my 3rd Trip and I have at least 2 more coming. I personally like seeing days this busy shows there doing something right to pull that kind of crowds. A great day and I can’t wait to get back.

Those 2 cloud shots are absolutely amazing.

I'm not really sure. I know that you can get a discount with your Stop and Shop card. Also AAA has discounted tickets. Not sure about local Fast food places. I hope you enjoy your trip. -
After Missing Quiet a few ACE events I Finally made plans to go to Lake Compounce for Ace’s Day at the Lake. We needed to get up early and get on the road. After 2.5 hours of Driving we arrived at around 11:00 am. After arriving I ran ahead and got us signed in at the booth in the Tunnel. I then hoped over to Customer service to get a parking refund. Once we were all together he handed out tickets and went in. Nearly my whole Family had come; My Parents, brother, sister in law, my niece and myself on this trip. Since my niece was 4 our first stop was Garfield’s Circuses World. My niece hoped the Motorcycles while my Brother, Sister in law and I went to Baulderdash. Boulderdash was running great. Only one train, the yellow one, operating at the start of the day. Later in the day they added the red train. The work done on the ride was a huge change even from my last trip 2 years ago. The coaster was flying offering fantastic air time and a mostly smooth ride. I can’t wait to ride the finished product next year. We headed back to the kiddie land and on our way we got in line to hit Thunder & Lighting. The ride is unbelievable. The restraints were comfortable, the thrust smooth, and plenty of air time. Getting air time while looking to the ground is a bit unnerving but also very exiting. We walked back down to kiddie land and meet up with my parents and my nice. All of us except my mom rode Garfield’s drop Zone. We then went over to the coaster. My brother and sister in law rode with my nice. It started to rain. That began a long stretch of a very exhausting day. My nice rode the caterpillar train while it rained. After a few rides it was still raining. It slowed a bit so we talked my parents into heading up to Ghost hut. I rode with my dad kicked his but. My father Rain across the park, the plan was to meet them at the gift shop and buy Ponchos. Some how he managed to go right by it and we lost him. We eventually found him at the carousel. After riding the carousel we went into the ball room to see “Rocking on Rt 66.” The show is very good. The characters didn’t make much sense. Why would the Book worm and geek of the school be going on the road trip with the cheerleader and jock? But other then that the show was reasonably long with allot of lighting. The shows finale was one of the best I have seen in any show. The weather opted to cooperate and stopped as the show did. Used the good weather to head back across the park and hit Zoomer’s Gas N Go. The ride is a Morgan electric 50’s themed car ride. It was purchased from Miracle strip in FL. The ride is really enjoyable. I rode with my nice and let her drive. The cars speed is not controlled by you but you can still steer. Along your rout you go through a covered bridge, past a water fall, a bunch of bill boards, back though the covered bridge and through a Drive in. The ride is very well themed and is one of the best landscaped areas within the park. They even take your picture. Well worth riding when you hit the park. My father, brother, sister in law and myself hoped on Zoomerang. The ride is worth hitting if there is a short wait. One of the best out there smooth and not as painful at most boomerangs. Quick load and unload time also. I then went of the Kiddie coaster with my niece. It’s an OK coaster short layout and it thoughts you around a lot. But my nice enjoyed it in al she rode it like 10 times. twice with me. Well the rain came back. We found ourselves in the gift shop getting a few ponchos. I didn’t get one shy bother I was already wet. We went back to the Caterpillar train I handed my mom a bunch of stuff to watch and opted to brave the rain and get in a few rides I was sick of standing around. We walked around the park in the poring rain and got on Wildcat. What a mistake. The ride was brutal. Very back seat, 1 circuit wait, and I was thrown around. The ride was rough and jumpy. I think when they are done with boulderdash wildcat needs some TLC. The rain had let up a bit and my brother and I opted to hope on Down Time. Always a fun ride! We rode Thunder and Lightning again. I then hoped on Enterprise. I don’t know what they did on the rehab a year back but it did allot of good. The ride was forceful and allot of fun. Well I’ll spare you the next half hour of sourcing for parents. Finally after another short rain fall we opted to hit the flume. It is a nice flume nothing amazing but it’s build up in the hill side wish is not seen to often the drop is also very steep. It was back to kiddie land for a second and off to Dinner. I snapped a bunch of pics on my way back to the picnic ground. We got to Dinner around 5:45 Dinner was very good just like last year. I had Ribs, a sausage, a hamburger, and an ice cream. It was a fantastic selection of food for everyone. They had door prizes. My niece won a teddy bear with a Lake Compounce sweater. There was Coaster Bingo which could have been a bit shorter and it was a bit annoying that 2 people won 4 of the prizes. The game would have likely been a better option for Nor Easter. We got done around 7:15 and made our way back to the park. Sky ride was closed for the day do to the weather. My mom brought my nice to the kiddie land while my father joined use on Bouldedash. We were able to get to the back car. We waited a single set and got on the yellow train. Allot of air time and a very wild ride. My father hadn’t been on the coaster in a few years. And had forgotten how the coaster was. I opted to give Thunder and Lightning another shot before the end of the night. I ended up riding with a fellow ACE member. We talk a bit after about local parks since he had traveled from central NY. Kiddie land was again the meet up spot. My niece and I rode the coaster again and she wanted to ride with me again on Zoomers. The ride is even better at night. The lighting and drive in cartoons playing at you pass through. I rode the Flying swings as my nice hit a few kiddie rides. The ride is even more relaxing at nigh. I then made it a requirement to hit Rainbow riders before the end of the night. They only let one adult ride with a child. So my father rode with my nice and then he handed her to me so I could ride. We needed to start off early so ERT was out for this trip. I took a bunch of night shots. I grabbed some soda before we left. We ran into Jerry Brick on our way out. We talked about the park. He has already placed the deposit on the new ghost hunt cars. That’s great news. Allot of the conversation was dominated by talks of my brothers wedding. Jerry was invited but wasn’t able to attend. We also talked about Story Land since he was going to be making a trip up there to look at a few things and help get some organization while the park awaits a new GM. Overall it was a good trip. There were some major down falls. The rain being one of them but it wasn’t a terrible day. I got on the new rides I wanted and there was only a couple rides I would have liked to hit but weren’t able to. But it was good to be back to the lake. I’m looking forward to going back.

kennywood!007 - Sky Skater is The Original Interactive rides ride. You may have seen a large model on top of the Stratosphere tower. It Rocks back and forth like a teeter toter. the car this glides back and forth like a coaster. At one point it tips you far forward and back wards and you fall until you hit the brakes at the end of the ride. I think you woudl see more of these if they have a larger platform with more seats. Capacity is poor. something like 280pph if I remember right from there site. ECZenith - yes it's true. The zombie Castle and Flying witch which I found very enjoyable will be evicted along with their owner. The rides re owned by the same family as the Mind scrambler, Power Surge, and fun bumpers. They own other rides which the park plans want to buy. They are the Go carts, thunderbolt, Starship 2000, and Sky Flyer. not worth keeping. the want rides seems very backwards. -

Next up Log flume 2 rides - Really good for the Standard Production model. T solid drops and you get reasonably wet. On out second ride I got very wet. I also liked all the rock work around the ride. Playland Plunge, 1 ride - This is a compact Hopkins Chute. The boat is thin and only holds 2 riders per row. But the splash was god for a small boat. I got soaked like I normally do on Hopkins chute rides. nice addition! Flying Witch, 3 rides - This was a Fin dark ride. It’s almost coaster like in the fact that you slowly Rise to the top and race down to the bottom. It’s fast passed and very enjoyable. The effects volume was a bit high and the gages were basically walkthrough fun house animatronics with a few traditional ones thrown in. Wild Mouse, 1 ride - This was a terrible ride. The cars were cramped and overall ti wasn’t enjoyable. The top was Ok the lats were tolerable but the rest of the ride as too strong leaving me in pain. First Wild Mouse coaster! Zombie Castle, 2 rides - I Thought the ride system was the best part of this ride. The wood cares really stood out for me. The ride was a mix of Traditional and modern gags like flying witch there was allot of Walkthrough gags in it. There was more of a story line to this one. The volume was also a bit too laud. House of Mirror, 1 time - this attraction made no since. For started I think they reversed the entrance and exit because all the arrows were pointing the opposite way we were going. There was no Maze aspect and The mirrors were very dirty and didn’t reflect well. The end was a large room with a Sleeping attendant and a few funhouse mirrors. Nothing special at all! We stopped and watched the High school Music show. It was basically a review of Grease which we watched on the way to the park. Good performers for the most part. Allot of locals. The nights in NY show we watched later in the day was better. Had some form High School Musical, Fiddler on the Roof, my fair lady among others. They made the $7.00 parking charge a much better value. We did a quick walk around the center of the park and hit the Carnival rides: Whip out, not the best I’ve ridden. Starship 2000, Fun ride but I like the Rotors better. Thunderbolt, same old ride. Sea Dragon, a good ride but a short cycle. Double Shot, 1 ride - I was hoping for a good ride Compared to the other double shot I have been on. The ride though was weak. The launch gave very little feeling and there was only a slight pop at the top. From there the ride simply went in the toilet. No force at the bottom a none existent second shot. I was very disappointed. Fun Bumpers, 1 ride - Very interesting Bumper boat car Combination. Though they were slow and Seemed to loose power every time you bumped some one. I’m glad I road them but likely would never waist my time again. Kite Flyer, 1 ride I rode this alone. It was an enjoyable little ride. your in a flying position Similar to the cliff hanger ride. Movement is similar to a paratrooper. I liked the movement on this better then the larger Cliff hanger. First Kite Flyer. We were Hungry so we made out way along the Board walk to far end of the park. We went to a Small restaurant called Captain Hooks. The place had very good food fair prices. The entire meal for the 3 of use was $34 dollars. We took some time by the board walk before thing any more rides. WF Mangles Carousel, 1 ride - A beautiful antique carousel. Good movement and with a band organ. It’s a wonderful Treasure at the park. Auto scooters, 1 ride - The Bumper cars at this park are fantastic. A very large Building with allot of Bumper cars. They are fast, hit well, and maneuver easily. Though the operator was very annoying instruction every one to “turn the wheel, turn the wheel” every time cars would pile up. Power Serge, 1 ride - Not as good as the one at the Playland park in Maine. It was fun but didn’t move well and the cycle was pore. Demolition Derby, 1 ride - this is a Zamperla Version of the old Crazy Daisy/Cuddle up ride. The ride was actually very good. Spun very well and the cycle was a good length. A definite hit when your at the park. After a few last rides, 3 rides on the Old mill in fact. Not to mention a couple night rides on Dragon. We wrapped up out day with about 3 minutes left on hour 8 hour pass. I took a few last minute Photos. The park looked great at night. I really enjoyed my day. It’s a nice park with some good rides, though the coasters are nothing special. I will likely return to the park again, but I think Playland is a once a year or every other year park given its distance. -
Having not been to a new park in 5 years I was exited to be going to Rye Playland. I went with my brother and Sister in law also came on this trip. We loaded into the car for the long drive to the park. We hit some traffic which dragged on out travel time to 5 hours. We arrived at the park off of Playland parkway at 2:00 PM. It took us a second to figure out were to go to get out tickets since the booths are located in the center of the park. We got an 8 hour all ride wrist band for $40.00 Dollars. The architecture within the park stands out greatly. There are still many aspects of the original park remaining including Classic rides. You can see some additions that were time period inspired like the Orange and green flashing on the promenade. But the park worked good and I was very exited to be there. I’ll lists the rides and describe them to save space and time. The Whip was closed today. Dragon coaster was first up, 5 times. This was a very enjoyable coaster. It was one of the most Unique layouts I have ever seen. The coaster in all was good but not great. The Morgan train may have been to blame. The trains were uncomfortable I was stapled in nearly every ride. And the trains seemed to drag. Both trains jack hammered pretty bad also. But it was enjoyable watching them operate 2 trains on a coaster using hand pulled brakes. Old Mill was next up, 6 times. Fantastic attraction! This was the highlight of my trip. The classic Dark ride with a modern dark ride upgrade was well done and very in enjoyable. The ride could us a bit of mending of the walls though. Night rides were the best. Sky Flyer, 2 times. This ride seems to suffer from too small a foot print. It wasn’t terrible and the inversions were good but the transitions were jerky and a bit rough. First Flying coaster! We hoped on the Derby Racer. A fantastic Variation on the More common carousel. Good speed and movement. Allot of Fun. My first ever Derby Racer! After those we took a quick walk though the board walked Kiddie land and got a look at the kiddie coaster as ride selection. They hade an impressive selection and a few rides I had not seen in person before. We took a Single ride on the Playland Express before leaving. It was you standard CP Huntington Train. It slowly traveled along the Short track. It was Quiet though. We got Pictures of the Fountain and looked at the board walk. Ice rink was closed. This is one of the best places to take in the parks true beauty. We worked out way into the midway again and down to the first set of rides. Sky Skater, 2 rides - This was my first Interactive Rides Ride. The ride was very enjoyable everyone adult and child rode this laughing and having a great time. There was smiles all around for the 12 rides in my group. Family Flyer, 1 ride - This was a terrible coaster. I rode it for the credit and to see if it was better then the ones at TGE and SFGAdv. It wasn’t in fact it was worse. It was the worst coaster in the park.

Thanks for the kind worlds I'm glad you enjoyed them. ECZenith - The Expansion in reference would be the train line. Extending the line another 1.5 miles from it's present stop. A switch track and Pass section woudl be constructed as well. In the future they will build a new station and larger parking lot at the end of the new stop. Further in the further they plan a new park. But for now it's simply getting the track extended. if their year goes really well we might see a smaller attraction added to the park.

Batman is a fun coaster. Only bit of shacking is in the corkscrews. Other then that it's good. One of the best Zero G rolls out there. as for Q-bot a waist of money. Most of the rides have single rider lines now. So your better off using that. Get on pandemonium in 5 minutes instead of 45. Hit superman first and work from there. You won't have a problem hitting rides.
