  1. This is a hosting Exchange for your files. Consider this an extension of the TPR Park Index. We won't host files/pictures if they aren't posted to the exchange or the forum. Otherwise, it'll end up being like a lot of the other game sites where links go bad, and the file is lost. For instance, right now I'm at work. My company blocks images hosted by ImageShack, flickr, etc. Anything posted to the Exchange right now, that I've used link to pictures with those sites, is showing as a big red X. Eventually those links could go bad for good, and it'll be a permanent red X. I think what he's asking is that if he wanted to post a link to his file that is hosted on the TPR Game Exchange, should he post the link to the page where the file is located, or hotlink the actual file itself. I think the best thing to do would be to post the link to the page. So for example, if you were posting something to Facebook, Twitter, or another website, it would look like this: "Hey everyone, check out my new No Limits track. It's called 'Cinderbreak' and it's totally awesome! You can download the track and check out screenshots of it here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=461 Is this what you mean? --Robb This is exactly what I meant, thanks for helping me get it across Robb. And that answers my question perfectly as I have a website hosted on a free server and can't upload gaming files so I've had no way of putting up RCT2 or NoLimits files. But now I know that I am ok to link to the page with my files. Thanks again! Also just an idea, I really like the landing page of CoasterTube as far as categories and I think that would work great here. Random files, recently uploaded, highest voted. Possibly even broken down by game. (Just an over thinking IT student who tries to pay attention to the layout and flow of websites).
  2. I meant to say, if I have a site (which I do) and I want to link to my RCT2 file. I imagine I can't just link to the .rct2 file (whatever the extension is) but rather to the page? I'm just wondering what rules there are or aren't for linking to an uploaded file from a personal site.
  3. Great idea! (Also thanks for uploading my one RCT2 file) With this being a beta release are you looking for ideas/suggestions for the overall layout and functionality of the Game Exchange? Or do you already have a full plan that you'll slowly be implementing? Also, I imagine we are ok to link directly to file page (not the actual file)?
  4. I loved the Space Mountain manual! Amazing, I'll be sure to keep checking back on this thread!
  5. If anyone is interested CoasterRadio interviewed him an episode or two back. It was that interview that actually got me interested in the show as there wasn't much interest before that. It's episode #443 for those interested.
  6. I don't think you covered this in your TR but how fast does the line move? Or is there so much to look at in the line that you never really noticed?
  7. ^ Ah dang V2 is down, I was looking forward to riding it. Thanks for the info, I'm looking forward to a visit to the park.
  8. Great trip report! I'm going to be going to the park for my first time in 2 weeks. I always like to check what the park usually does during wetter weather? It looked as though it was quite wet during your, visit were all the rides still operating? (What's the usual actions of this park during rain?)
  9. Wow, I was shocked to see your location, always great to see someone from Orem. (Actually it never happens really). Loved the video and pictures (although I never did get into RCT3 I stopped at RCT2 and went over to NoLimits). But I still love the layout of your ride and the excellent music.
  10. Ok I've got a question for everyone here. I've been using No Limits forever and I remember a few years back (possibly on Coaster Sims) someone posted about how to use NVidia cards to get stereoscopic 3D for NoLimits. Well I've finally upgraded my computer and I can't find that article on instructions on how to get that working. As I just set up the 3D software (this is for red/blue glasses, none of that fancy shutter glasses stuff). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. ^ Wow that shows so much more detail with it being zoomed in more. I never noticed that it has eye-lids that move and change the shape of the eye. It really adds to the overall dragon I think, awesome!
  12. When i looked into doing that about 6 months ago it was extremely difficult. There wasn't a real easy way to export or change objects from sketch-up into a .3ds object. Probably your best bet for simple objects (although not as easy to use, but still not way difficult) would be anim8or. Of course this could have changed over the last 6 months.
  13. For all the people who are wondering about the support structure. Take a look at the aerial animation (I think it was that one) and as the train goes by the station you can see the lift structure going to the ground to be attached to the footer. As others have said, many rides have large open sections, Desperado, X2 and others. Seems like the track will have enough built in support and strength to have that few of supports. Which makes the ride look even cooler in my book.
  14. Most excellent, thank you for the speedy reply!
  15. I know this has probably been asked before but I can't remember it recently being asked in this thread. I'm coming down to visit a few parks next week and wondering how SFMM handles rainy weather? (I know it's August and usually dry as a bone) but I'm just checking. Is it as severe as KBF? This will greatly help me in my upcoming trip.
  16. How does the pricing work for this park? Is it all pay as you go? Or is it just an entrance fee? Just curious to see if I can easily hit this park up on my way to the beach when I'm down there in August.
  17. Hey guys sorry about the lack of updates. I set up a blog so that it's easier for me to link to from multiple sites. So take a look at it and tell me what you think of how Space Mountain is coming along. Please see post below, blog has been upgraded to a website.
  18. The only reason we would have access to 3Ds Max is that the 3D animation program falls partly under the technology area. Although they mainly use Maya from what I know. (I'm currently in the process of hopefully assiting my University's Animation department from the IT side)
  19. I'm currently using my friends license for Max '08 since he doesn't use the program. But I'm looking into getting a student license quite soon. (As I'm not sure his license is legit). Or I may be able to get it free from my University for the major I'm in (Information Technology), I just haven't gotten the right information of who to talk to at the moment.
  20. I thought some people on here might find my newest hobby a bit interesting to look at. I've recently been spending more time in 3Ds Max and I've been working on a Space Mountain model. It's taken about a month to get this far but I'm really excited how it's turning out. I have ideas and hopefully plans of doing other attractions and renders (not all necessarily Disneyland). But for the moment I'm working a lot on Space Mountain and learning a lot as I go. You'll see in the pictures the lighting will look different, sometimes dark and sometimes bright (hopefully not a huge difference). I'm still playing around with the lighting in the scene a lot. I'm still not 100% satisfied with the daylight lighting that I have going on. But enough chit-chat here's some pictures of the progress! Tell me what you think. The last part that I was able to finish last night, the glowing red sign. I think it turned out great! As you can see I've only worked on this half of the entrance into the mountain. I'll just copy this side and rotate it for the other side which shouldn't take long. Ooooh the entrance to the mountain is beginning to take shape! Complete with blue glowing lights! Here's a shot of the pillars from the opposite side of the mountain entrance. The green cylinder is my scaler. Here's a view of the upper-queue. Mainly I was looking at the support pillars in this shot to see how they turned out with a newly added bump map. Here's an early render of the cone of Space Mountain. I eventually redid the entire cone. Here's a render with the cone completed, I think it looks really good
  21. I just drove by it Shane about 3 hours ago and I was amazed how much difference two weeks makes. Seriously with all the great props and theming you've added it looks so dense ! It seriously looks great from the freeway! I can't wait to be driving by and seeing that bucket tipping pretty soon.
  22. ^ That's how my computer is as well. I think I've read somewhere to play/stream most HD video you need a dual-core computer. Which mine isn't so I get the lower framerate during playback just like you've described.
  23. To get the discount at Speed: The Ride, do you actually have to have a local person there with you? Or can they purchase the ticket? I'm interested as I'll be passing through Vegas hopefully soon on my way down to California.
  24. Ah, ok that answers my question and is good to know. Thanks!
  25. Looks great so far, I couldn't believe how impressive it looks from the freeway as I drove by it yesterday. I have one question/comment. One some of the side railings the gap between the vertical slats (holding the railing) seem to be quite a big gap. I see that and kind of worry with kids going up and down the stairs and possibly pushing smaller children. I've haven't been to many other water parks but is that how a lot of other play structures are? Just curious.
