  1. I reckon this one looks more interesting because you need more skill to follow through the S-Bend, rather than just leaning the same way through a 360.
  2. Judging by a recent TR by Jobe in this thread at Parkz which showed how the footings for the replacment scenic railway station intersect with the path of the track...lol nope.
  3. If they don't get out much then I reckon a trip over to Perth is probably a rarity for them too haha...Awesome we have a Eurofighter in the country, but Perth is a bit of an isolated city and a 3-4 hour flight from the populated eastern states where the rest of our parks are.
  4. At some point in the future, one workaround that avoids recoding and rebuilding might just be to list both units side by side on the answer button (Though that still means changes to the answer spreadsheet admittedly). Eg: "How fast does this ride go" - 100mph (160km/h) - 50mph (80km/h) - 75mph (120km/h) - 1000mph (1600km/h)
  5. The latest ticketing deal is on www.themeparks.com.au In terms of crowds, should be fairly quiet so youll get plenty of rides in.
  6. The Matix Morpheus "What If I told you..." one. A close 2nd would be the basic 4 frame explotable FUUUUU rageguy one:
  7. On the right side of the shot in the SFGA video, was that guy supposed to be "Donkey punching"?
  8. Now that you've said that, come to think of it, reminds me a bit of this:
  9. I'm curious, but are some of the stencilled patterns etc on the ride building just temporary as promotion until the ride opens? In particular, on the 2nd pic, bottom left, you can see they have painted a giant barcode on the building, which seems a bit random (Unless they are awaiting delivery of their giant barcode reader bit of theming ) Regardless, I get the feeling the designer drawing up the elevations for the exterior design got a little excited and just splattered over the building as many bits of military base/warning sign icons that they could think of.
  10. We will do other popular memes. The plan is to do these once a month. Any chance of say going to a new one every fortnight? I guess the nature of memes is that they can wear out quickly and we'll end up seeing the same jokes rehashed if it drags on for a month. Anyway: http://imgflip.com/i/g4cm
  11. Floorless trains? I was wondering how long it would take before someone took a photoshopped image as gospel But first post after...not bad.
  12. The way things are evolving so quick with waterslides on cruise ships, I wouldn't be surprised to see a dropping body slide! Like Green Thunder on the Carnical Spirit:
  13. ? In that case cant you turn down the graphics settings, or buy a better computer?
  14. To be honest I'm not really feeling the hate for this system. If the park/manufacturer have done the sums and it works out it results in higher capacity than I'm all for it. I'd agree with Oriolats comment that the key is the "sense of urgency" in the way it encourages guests to sit down and close the lapbar quickly. The comments of it being "unsafe" are silly too. Obviously the train would stop moving if it passed a certain trigger point with a harness not closed enough.
  15. Point of order, you can get from Sea World to Disney on the #50 bus, runs every 30 mins, 5am till Midnight, 7 days. The I-ride trolley is bad, and the #8 bus runs rather conveniently every 15 mins on weekdays on International Drive (30 min frequency weekends), and doesn't feel like it stops every 50m....Much faster. I think the buses in Orlando would be poor a for general use, but for tourists you can do all the parks on them just fine...It's just that not many visitors actually check them out beforehand, and get sucked into using the I-Ride trolley etc etc.
  16. But the reason you buy a theme park game is because you want to build your dream theme parks and coasters. It certainly would be 'realistic' to go dealing with maintenance and paint jobs, but would it actually be a fun way to spend your time? To be honest, it would kinda bug me if I was constantly having to deal with micromanaging pop up windows dealing with ride maintenance, or if I spent a few game years building a themed coaster with detailed theming, only to find that the paint had faded and it all looked crap. I'd much rather the focus go to doing a game that is generally open ended enough to give it real longevity. This is where things like sketchup .skp and 3D studio .3ds object imports come into play...It suddenly means the scenery issue is solved because you can just model up whatever you need. If we combine in an advanced footpath editor (build curves and set widths) that works like the coaster editor, and the ability to place flat rides at any angle, that gives you the basic tools to build anything (including recreating any theme park), and the rest is up to you. In terms of requests, I guess one thing is that flat rides should try to be as generic looking as possible, so they can be incorporated with any themed area. In RCT3 for instance, many rides only had the one theme. A Good example was the "pounding Surf" ride: Cool if you wanted to put it in a Hawaiian themed area or something, but no option if say you had a notion of putting it in a robot themed area and wanted the ride to look like a giant bezerk machine. If the rides are kept as generic as possible, we can then just pick the colour scheme ourselves, and pick our own theme objects and fencing to surround it with.
  17. For me, the #1 feature is ensuring Sketchup files are one of the 3d formats supported for importing. Sketchup is available free, widely used and accessible so it becomes a really powerful way of creating your custom scenery. It also means that everything already in the Google 3D warehouse can just be dropped in, so that means basically any 3d object at your disposal. Sketchup does allow exact measurements, and snapping though? For example:
  18. True, but at the same time one of the hazards of doing futuristic themes is their tendency to date. Think of the way Tommorrowland feels today, or the way the architecture of Future World feels as a whole. When I first visited Epcot (2007) I guess it felt like an 80s rendition of the future. ....The future?... To me it's a bit of a false dichotomy that the choice for Test Track is the "dated" 90s version, or the computerised fantasy type theme it has now. I reckon it's entirely possible to have had a ride based around a "real" test track that still feels modern...Just update the audio and signage packages, redo preshow films, incorporate the car design preshow, perhaps incorporate that cool aerodynamic wind tunnel effect the new one has etc etc.
  19. Yeah, that's exactly my viewpoint on this. For each test there were a lot of good cues that supported each test, whereas on this it kinda just feels homogenous all the way though (the tron look), and those computerised voice overs feel a bit forced. And it seems toned down, none of the 'fun' of driving over cobblestones, hitting the traffic cone in the ABS test, being able to wave at the thermal scan, going through the heat lamps, and the truck near miss seems a bit neutered (As does the scene which replaced the barrier test). Just feels a lot more passive than it used to. Yes the effects are visually impressive, but you've gotta have context for these things IMO. I will admit I am a big fan of hard industrial theming (Raptor at Gardaland is another example I love). I think its a bit unfair to call the old theming cheap. Yes it would no doubt be cheaper, but in terms of actually achieving the theme they set out to do it was perfect. At the moment, I feel the same as when Dueling Dragons had its theming changed for Potter
  20. But has Cedar Fair ever been so far decided, to want even go to do more like? In all seriousness, here's my English translation of mean streaks post: "Cedar Fair should not have sold Soak City. Busch should have put in Aquatica on their own land at Sea World by removing an existing attraction at Sea World and using the space.
  21. I thought it was confirmed to be premier who were making this coaster. Also, the track is the same style as the mummy ride. I wonder if this means they are taking out the Mummy ride soon as this will the same ride? They'll also take out Spiderman when Transformers opens because they are the same ride. True story.
  22. Agreed! The only thing is I would prefer that they not use just Heartline Rolls for half of the inversions. Why not throw in a batwing, a zero-G roll, a cutback, a wraparound corkscrew, a twisted horseshoe roll, or something other than 5 heartline rolls? The reason Collosus got 5 heartline rolls is because they are an energy efficient element, so they were basically able to use the 8 inversion layout as is, and just tack the last two inversions on the end to make 10. To do what you describe, with a batwing, zero-g, cutback etc etc would necessitate a bigger first drop, and subsequently, the first few inversions needing to be a bit bigger too to account for that.
