  1. Several other sites are also reporting the end of Log Jammer after Halloween....guess we will find out in SIX days!
  2. Personally, I would like to see ALL of the theming at the park scrapped....the park cant afford to maintain the theming it has already...actually, they need to give it the Apocalypse treatment and change the theming to it every year....
  3. I dont think its current standing of 4 superhero named rollercoasters and 2 flats qualify it as being a superhero park...yet...and lets hope it doesnt head that way
  4. then it should be made a superhero park then, all of it...and I am a creative director for a design company, and I know when enough is enough for projects my company works on....and I feel SFMM is rapidly approaching that point!
  5. ^ Please No, sorry, but enough with the superhero theming....too much is tacky and cheesy....
  6. Or at least a good portion...sorry, have no real clue to percentages...
  7. ^ Maybe the station...but look at Google Earth, or ride the coaster...85% is built over the parking lot.
  8. The best thing about these postings for me is really trying to read into "certain" peoples posts to see who is trying to give hints at what could/will be coming to a park. Rob, for example, has done it on several occasions.
  9. Just for curiosities sake, here is a list of ALL six flags parking lot coasters....at least what I could find on Google Earth: SFMM: Colossus, Goliath, Scream, X2 SFDK: Not entirely sure, but quite possible every coaster(except the Boomerang and Road Runner) though Medusa is the only one that still shows parking spaces.... SFOT: Small portion of Goliath Wow, I guess it is mostly Magic Mountain that has done this practice(though Colossus was built prior to Six Flags taking over(by one year though)...now, it was obvious looking on GE at the parks that many, many coasters, water parks, etc were built over existing parking lots, but they were landscaped underneath....Sorry Magic Mountain, was trying to defend you...oh well
  10. You can also see the parking lot under Goliath and X2 - ALSO parking lots coasters! Almost all of Colossus is built on the parking lot...at least half of Goliath and X2 as well!
  11. ^Premier coasters are one of my favorites, highly underrated and on the verge of being brilliant...the Mr Freeze coasters and all of the Poltergeist models are amazing rides, and if Great Adventure and Premier would have just worked with it a lil more, the coasters would still be there!
  12. amazing no one has mentioned Deja Vu from SFMM!
  13. Simply put...ASTROWORLD....Texas Cyclone(the BEST clone of the original, even better than the original) and Greezed Lightin'(which is sitting rotting in a field...also the best Schwarzkopf shuttle loop, hands down!) were two major losses to the industry....and geez, the only coaster to relocate was a crappy Vekoma Mind Eraser...(Thriller left before the park closed)...Houston should have held SFI accountable and put the bastards on trial!
  14. Its not SD just cancelling theme parks, they also like to make it very hard for the attractions that do exist to expand or add anything of significance....case in point, Seaworld has spent FOREVER to try and get a new coaster, and finally got Manta, in which major restrictions were placed upon.
  15. In a truly sad bit of news, Pontchartrain Beach's founders son, Harry batt, Jr...who helped spearhead his fathers vision, died Sept 18th of this year...you helped me with my goals and direction in life....you will be sadly missed!
  16. No...if you read back to the beginning of the previous page...you will notice that Shane paid tribute to Ron Toomer, who died today......
  17. I had the priviledge of riding his Ragin Cajun as my very first coaster...thanks for the greatest experience of my life...you will be sadly missed Ron!
  18. ^No, they would just turn one of the new trains forward again....not put one of the old trains on again...
  19. I respectfully disagree...I think its a perfect comparison...Las Vegas hotels built major attractions to bring in crowds for 20 years...the Volcano, the Pirate show, etc...those were there "roller coasters" they brought the crowds in off the street to "play in their park"...vegas crowds never cared about that a hotel built a new tower.....no one went to the new Caesars Palace because they built one of their 3 brand new towers in the 1990's - 2000's...they went because of the expansions to the Forum Shops.....the same is said for the HR expansion...the general public is not staying there at the hotel, but coming in from other hotels as well, to play inside the new revamped casino....they updated everything as well as gave it a fresh, 20-something feel, and thats bringing in the increased attendance. Now, yes you argue that there revamp was there "new attraction", but you can also argue that they didnt need any new spiffy, glitzy over the top attraction to attract guests as well.
  20. I would pick the improvements....I am under the philosophy that you dont need a major new attraction to bring in more guests, but that you can do it by improving the quality upon what already exists. I worked on the 1 Billion dollar expansion of the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, which didnt include a typical vegas "gimmick" attraction but did include two new hotel towers and a total revamp and renovation of the original casino itself. Now they did build a brand new concert hall as well, but the increase traffic they are getting is mostly due to the sprucing up and general improvements of the hotel itself.
  21. I still would love to see a revamp of all those buildings back there in the Cyclone Bay area as well...a new Coaster would liven up that spot, but you still have all of those old patched up arcade/gift shop/ice cream buildings that really need a face lift!
  22. ^^^Exactly, with the exception of the roller coaster fanatics out there, I guarantee you MOST of SFMM guests probably havent even heard of Cedar Point....and knowing the school system in LA, they probably couldn't even tell you were Ohio is!
