  1. Construction on the prototype has finally begun!!!! (and it's not on the computer either.) After making a change to the width of the platform, we cut a 6 inch by 24 inch long piece of wood, then drilled 9, 1/8 deep holes for the footers which are 3/4 inch wide. Next I sawed off 9, 5/8 long dawl rods for the footers and while I painted them, my dad eurithained the base. Stay tuned for deigning of the cars and the supports being created. The footers were pained grey. The Base The Base
  2. I think with some more buildings, some custom scenery and some more trees, it could be a great recreation. It kind of looks like it was done on RCT1.
  3. The only way I think it's possible is build a really high excitement rating coaster and build an extremely long queue line. I did this and had nearly 500 guests in line with a wait time of 30min to 45min. That's the only way I think.
  4. It doesn't look right. They should've built it like the way it was in Japan.
  5. We already have 2 threads on it's construction. Here's one of them. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26832&highlight=hard+rock+park
  6. ^^That's what I ment. The drawing is done, but not the actual work on building the prototype. Those aren't the actual colors, those were the layer colors that I used in the model on the AutoCAD drawing of the actual coaster model. The supports will be black while the track will be read, the crossmembers will be orange and the spince will be yellow. Right now the color isn't a big deal.
  7. I was thinking of focusing with the colors red, orange and black. Yellow might be included. Good News! The prototype is fully completed! The screen below shows the fully completed prototype. I hope to start actually building it on the weekend. Cross supports on the crests of the hills will be added on the project, they can't show up on the model. Car construction could start as soon as tomorrow night or as late a next week. Stay tuned for more! The completed prototype.
  8. The reason why I designed it on inventor was to some better measurements like the width between supports, the angle of the track and height. Doing this showed me if I needed to make some changes and in which I did. The height was going to be 12in, but it looked a little short so I changed it to 18 in. After drawing the track, I found out the drop angle would've been around 75 degrees which isn't the average drop angle on a coaster and it wouldn't be likely that the angle would've shown up on the design so I changed it back to 12in. That gave me a drop angle of 65 degrees which is a little better. I guess when all else fails, I can just do the prototype, cars, finish the layout, and document on what it took to get that far. The materials aren't really a big problem since the station, supports, part of the cars, platform and spine are going to be made out of wood in which I have a lot of. I also have an old Remote Controlled car motor for the lift motor. Most of the other items execpt for the wheels and the lift motor control wouldn't be that expensive that I know of.
  9. I'm almost finished building the prototype on Inventor. The supports, platform, and track have been designed. All that I need to do is add the track to the drawing, insert the ties that connect the spine with the track and start work on designing the cars. After this is done, work on the actual building on the prototype and trains will begin! Do you guys have a link on where to find these expensive coaster model wheels?
  10. SOunds like the state of Kansas is park-less after the closing of Joyland and now this place. Sad because there's so much open space out there.
  11. ^That's the same thing I posted a few posts ago.
  12. Other people wear worse than a fanny pack to a park you know. But when I go to HP in a week and a half, my mom usually wears the fanny pack and I usually hold the backpack with all the swimsuits and towels in. Plus, I usually bring my camera bag. We usually have no problem with this because we can just give the bags to a non-rider or put the stuff in the bag drop areas. Here's more news from screamscape. Looks like it affects SFA now. So $5 for an additional hour after the 3 hrs. Well, who really stores stuff in a locker for 4 hrs unless what you're storing is very valuable or you REALLY hate to carry it around.
  13. ^Don't they have misting machines to keep you cool? For Hershey, they just have drop zones on nearly all of their rides and if you want to rent a locker, it's $.50 for the whole day. Dorney has containers to put your stuff in at all the coasters. The locker prices vary, it's a little more for the ones near Wild Water Kingdom than the ones near White Water Landing. Six Flags is going to crap, good thing I've never went to one of their parks! lol
  14. Apparently SF enforces this new rule for Goliath riders to rent locker for $2 just to ride Goliath. On top of this, you can't have anything in line while waiting. Read more in this screamscape update. $2 for 3 hours! Nothing allowed in line! Sounds like if you go to SFOG along and your carrying something and you wanna go on Goliath, either you're SOL or you'll need to fork over $2 for no more than 5 minutes.
  15. ^Thanks, that should be some help for me. This afternoon I drew up some sketches for the cars and a sideview sketch of the prototype. I had a little trouble drawing the seats and instead of restraints, I decided to do safety harnesses instead like the ones you use in parachuting. The cars feature 2 brake fins, but after just thinking of the problems of slowing the cars down to much, there's only going to be 1 per a car. The chain dog is going to be like the kind on the K'nex coasters. I think I might use ball bearings, I'll see what I can do by making them in the metal shop at school or ordering them. The body is simple, nothing fancy. The front is curved and the body is going to be plastic and the frame's going to be wood. There are going to be 4 pins holding the body to the frame. edit: Sorry for the chicken sketch. Axis train concept sketch Prototype sideview concept sketch. The height is 12in (1ft) and it's 2ft long.
  16. I eliminated the 4th dimension rails a little while back, so I guess it was a good move. The seats are going to spin freely just like on an Intamin Ball coaster, wait a minute, this could be considered a ball coaster, execpt it's not launched. I was thinking maybe steel wire might be an alternative to the plastruct if it was smooth. Also, What I can I use for wheels? Wouldn't the wheels used for the CoasterDynamix trains work?
  17. I've done some thinking and I think you guys are all right. I'm going to do some concept drawings right now on the trains and put some of my ideas on paper. I also have to confess that I didn't really post all of my ideas and details on the whole project. Here are some... -If the model doesn't actually work as in going around the whole track, It still wouldn't be a problem. I will still have info on how this was built and the process it took. I'll try to post the rules on this project soon. - I think I'll design a 3 ft. long, flat piece of track (or should I add a hill?) along with a train. I'll get to work on this. Rimer, I guess I was a little defensive on the project and couldn't face the fact that if I didn't really think about the trains and a prototype, it wouldn't happen. I'll work on this project a little more and hope to not let anyone down, 'cause lets face it, letting, so far, 22 pages of posting would be a very terrible thing to do.
  18. I thought they stopped these plans? Weren't we talking about this early in the year?
  19. This sounds like it would come our of some horror movie. Has to be one of the worst ways to die.
  20. What does this mean? It means if you keep bashing me or other members, I get a mod in here to sort things out. Okay? Fine. Back to the project. Do I really need a braking system? I could just add it in as an extra if I have time.
  21. Who do you think you are? I've been working on this project for almost 1 year and sure, I haven't started building, but if you actually KNEW how much planning it takes, it could take this long. Not much progress? Maybe if you wern't blind as a bat, maybe you've seen all the photos and updates that I've posted. I've come a long way since the begining from design changes to layout changes to even update changes. I've talked to a physics teacher and he gave me some information on the project and SAID it was possible. As for there not being that many in the world, it's not stopping me from being the first person in the world. It's as simple as this... I'M NOT GIVING UP. I'm not going to brag, but I have done A LOT of things over the past year to make sure this project works, and sure I haven't been posting many updates lately, but between my dad (who's helping me with the project) and my life, there are only certain times when we can work on this. If you thinking that I'm doing it just for publicity then you're dead wrong. Why would I want do that?
  22. ^^I see you're new to the forums, so in the future, please post any rumors or gossip on new rides, parks or attractions in this thread> http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35614&highlight=rumor+thread Topic Closed
  23. I have done some thought on the trains, like design, features, and ways to reduce friction. I've went through many different designs schemes and I'm starting to think about doing just a simple 4th dimension coaster car. This is just doing a simple body (no fancy curves for looks) and to make it as areo-dynamic as possible. The wheels will be set up similar to GCI's millenium flyer trains meaning each car (execpt the first car) will have only 2 wheels. Each car will have 4 arms holding each 1 seat, each car has a total of 4 seats, not very capacity friendly. The only thing I don't know what to do is the wiring for the braking system, but I'll talk to someone soon about that. The framework for the lifthill is up and I found a few problems. The space between the station and lift is not going to allow me to dive under the lift. This means that the track where the zero-g-roll is going to be built through the lift which would mean the removal of a few support beams. This will create a cool head, hand and leg chopper effect! More updates to come! As of 7/22/07
  24. Right now it's being designed on the computer, but it will be built in real life eventually. Right now, because of the progress I'm making, the computer completion date is being pushed forward to either the end of August or early September.
