  1. You're implying that the majority of eastern Pennsylvania has any idea of what or where Worlds of Fun is. Half the people I talk to have never even heard of Kennywood. Snake Pit is unique to the area as it has slides that no other water park in the area has a drop capsule slide or ProSlide Constrictor. I have never experienced either of these and I'm kind of excited for it, but it is kind of sad that Riptide Run will be taken out. Then again, I can kind of see why they would be removing it since you have to exit the attraction by passing directly across the entrance, the flow of the catch-ponds was horrible as it would leave riders stuck in a whirlpool trying to go down the next slide, and I once got my back slightly scratched on the main drop from foam that was ripped on the slide.
  2. Looks like the media has figured out that it's Knotts' Windseeker: http://www.kshb.com/dpp/news/local_news/planned-worlds-of-fun-attraction-has-checkered-past
  3. That f---in' tunnel... I decide to go down it and see where it ends up and it goes down a small slide about two or three feet, goes straight under the hallway for a good ten feet with being no more than two feet wide and three feet tall clearance, and immediately makes a sharp left turn where it goes off, gets even smaller and goes to who knows where... I had absolutely no room to turn that corner and when it came to coming out the entrance, my sneakers could not grip the floor enough to get myself out of that tunnel and up that drop! It really scared the sh!t out of me! I somehow made it out of the museum unscathed, but I did almost fall into that pond while getting out of the school bus on the top floor!
  4. The rapids ride is on the opposite side of the park from where the Southwest Territory is located. I am willing to bet money that Ragin' Cajun is going in the spot where Two/Face used to be. I really hope this area renovation rumor is true because much of the buildings looked pretty sad and un-used. Same thing with the theming too. As for Ragin' Cajun, As much as it might be a good move to put a ride into a park that doesn't attract as many people as where it used to be, it certainly won't improve the park's coaster collection. I still wish that they got something brand-new and not something relocated after 10 to 20 years in another park.
  5. According to Coaster Crew, this may end of being a water park addition. If so, then I would love to see a Master Blaster-type attraction or even something crazy from ProSlide.
  6. Yep. They built it in the back corner to the left of Steel Force's entrance and to the right of Revolution, their Chance Claw-type ride.
  7. Hooray! More Dino's! Please... no more dinos! I am really hoping that it is a B&M wingrider, GCI, or something for Wildwater Kingdom. If anything, hopefully something that is not used (Posessed), a plagued with problems (Stinger), or an addition to something that is an up-charge (Dinosaurs Alive). Heck, I'd even love a small flat ride going in.
  8. If they are going for a Safari theme, they could go and build an attraction near Bizzarro's entrance and expand the midway a bit, but I have little confidence in this happening. Take out the stadium? That a big people-attracter since they have some pretty big names giving concerts in there. Ripping it out would not attract as many people per season. What I could see them doing, but would be expensive, is extend the Kingda Ka path down to the base of the top-hat, re-use the old Safari Discover Center, add a third station to the Off-Road Adventure attraction to make it more into a transportation ride and increase capacity, open up a new theme area with two or three flat rides along with the drop tower added to the ride, and open up the old Golden Kingdom path link to make it more accessible. This would cost a couple million, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are willing to sink that much into a concept like this. Then again, they could instead remove Rolling Thunder, which would scale back this.
  9. If the shoe has a heel more than an inch thick, the shoes will need to be removed for an acurate measurement. This is important becuase height requirements are there for your child's safety and a shoe with a big heel is not part of the person's height. Have your child wear a normal shoe, stop at the gazebo to the right of the Milton Hershey fountain to get an official height wristband, and then any ride that has their candy brand on the green sign at the entrance is a ride that they are safe to ride.
  10. Yeah, I would think that day and the 6th will probably be the busiest days of the season. Especially since the concert was sold out within minutes of tickets going on-sale (I think I remember hearing the local radio station say this) and one of those concerts being on a Saturday.
  11. Cool update! Cosmoworld is a park that is absolutely on my "must-do" list. The setting, night time lighting and cool-looking rides make it seem unique. It is also always great to see the parks get in on the fun as well! They seem awesome. EDIT: For some reason, this post seems to be going before the Cosmoworld update instead of after it. I originally made this post at around 12:24PM.
  12. Went to the park on Tuesday and had a pretty decent visit. Got there at around 10:30 and my friends and me managed to hit all the coasters (including Wild Mouse) by 1PM. The longest lines were Thunder Canyon (10 to 15 minutes) and Aquablast (20 minutes) for the whole day. The rest were walk-ons and one to two-train waits for the front rows. Stinger was closed all day and had water dummies in the seats (probably from last week's 90 minute stranding of riders). One thing that I haven't seen mentioned that's new for 2013 is their new Fast Pay program. It uses an RFID chip in a wristband and allows the user to load money on it to use at any place in the park that has a cash register for food, gift shops, and I saw it at one of the all-day locker locations in the park. There are two different types of bands: The single day band and... wait for it... the re-useable multi-day/season pass-user wristband that is an extra $5 and can be purchased at Guest Services. This band is re-wearable and comes in different colors as well. Sounds a little like Disney to me. Coca-Cola in the park was great, but I was slightly disappointed that there were no Coke Freestyle machines anywhere (then again this is Dorney we're talking about). Finally, I also want to say that operations were great and the employees were really helpful. When I went to the lockers by Thunder Canyon and lost nearly $8 trying to find a working locker (quite a few of them didn't work), one of the attendants willingly came over and opened one up for me. She said that they were supposed to get new ones this year to replace the existing coin-operated ones, but another park got them instead. Overall, had a great visit!
  13. I hate posts like this. Oh, gee, sorry it took them "long enough"... Here's a thought... maybe it took so long because some of those original plans and rumors make it look like they were going to build another "Mach Tower", and when all the issues with that ride happened, they actually went back to the drawing board, looked at some of the other drop tower options, and came back with what looks like it could be the best drop tower in the world. Personally, I'd rather wait LONGER for them to put in something that is going to KICK ALL SORTS OF A$$, than to have seen the park rush into making another mistake. Who's with me on that? I am. I don't get those people who just want the parks to announce a ride and not go through the teasers and pre-announcement marketing that goes along with the attraction. I mean, half of the fun is sometimes the advertisements that happen before an official announcement is released. Take Smiler, Skyrush, and whatever KI seems to be doing right now. It gets people excited and talking and really lives up to the phrase, "Half of the fun is just getting there". Having just ridden Atmos-Fear at Knoebels a few hours ago and nearly walked off scared shatless, I could only imagine how I would be if I was over 300ft in the air and freefalling face-down! Congrats BGT!
  14. If it was a Golden Horse, it would probably launch off one of the ends and crash RCT-style. Looks like it has a nice kick to it on the launch and a nice space-saving ride. It's odd seeing the Skyrush-style lapbars on a different attraction.
  15. I have two photos of the Safari Off-Road Adventure loading station at Six Flags Great Adventure. It features the ride sign on the building, but not a close-up of it. I plan on heading back in a few weeks so if nobody takes any before then, I'll snap a few better photos of the attraction for you. As for the needed photos of Black Diamond's and Power Surge's ride sign at Knoebels, I plan on stopping by on Wednesday and I'll get them for you. If I remember correctly, I don't think I saw a sign for Black Diamond anywhere.
  16. If there is a coaster that has a consistant line thorughout the day, it would be Fahrenheit with usually a 30 to 45 minute wait. Skyrush usually gathers a line at opening, but towards the mid to late afternoon, that line drops off to being at the base of the stairs (5 to 10 minutes). For all rides, lines aren't too bad in the evening. Be sure to download the Hersheypark App if you have an iPhone or Android as it has a map, park hours, shows list, and a constant updated list of closed rides and wait times for major rides.
  17. I would absolutely be interested in doing this! The only question I would have is what program should we use or is it a special modeling program?
  18. I believe in TPR's interview with B&M, they said that they can do it, it's just that none of the parks have decided to build one with an inversion.
  19. That was my thought process also.....along with what looks to be the turnaround from Tidal Force. Those attractions are quite a distance from the structures. I want think that they didn't get around to putting up the canvas on them yet. I want to say that Soaker's station is reminding me quite a bit like the Sky Ride station in Rhineland: the ride removed out of the station with evidence that there was something there.
  20. So after class on Wednesday I decided to stop by the park on my way home and take a lap or two on Skyrush. While there, I found out that the Boardwalk was open so I went out there to check out the new additions and see what Roller Soaker's area now looks like. One of the things that struck me about the renovated area was that there was a lot more seating and that the new Shoreline Sprayground is very approachable. What's cool is that I think that the old footers from the former ride were re-used for the shade structures, judging from their positions. I still haven't had the chance to experience the two new slides yet, but I should be able to in the next day or two. Here are a few photos of the new slides and Sprayground area. When you're walking down this midway, you know it is summer! Roller Soaker's station is still there, but the coaster itself is gone. What was once this... ...is now this. Intercostal Waterway's entrance has been moved down further for more queue space. This building was the ride photo building for Roller Soaker, which was at the ride exit. Some nifty netting has been put around the outside of the former Soaker station. These flags have also been added as well. The food stands from the area near East Coast Waterworks have been moved. Jet Ski! Let's check out one of the new attractions. Welcome to the Shoreline Sprayground! Compared to what this area looked like before... It is absolutely more colorful and uses less concrete. It is also more open and a very approachable attraction as well with no fence surrounding it or limit on how many can visit it. It looks like Soaker's station queue is still there. You now have a more open view of Lightning Racer's far-turn. More seating anyone? The centerpiece of the attraction has to be this tipping-bucket. Attraction and height sign. Here's a photo of just the height sign. Basically anyone can use it. On the other side of the area, an existing water attraction has also received something new for this year. Hydro and Pipeline are now up and running (The orange and yellow slides). The new height sign for the two new slides. The rules are similar to Riptide with riders needing to be at least 42" to ride and 48" to ride alone. Here's the catchpool. Thanks for reading! Once I try out the new slides, I'll post my review of them.
  21. The seats twist? Do they twist more than a regular Sky Screamer? If so, then I think this thing is going to ultimately scare the crap out of me more than any other flat ride on the Midwest Trip! Great Media Day report!
  22. I agree. They are still designing the game and to say that the coasters aren't very detailed at this point is kind of getting ahead of yourself. Keep in mind that you would be able to create objects to add to the coasters (such as crossbraces for the Intamin mega's track, etc to make it look real. I am pretty sure that the screens that have been posted are to show the basics on what is possible and that they haven't spent time and dedication to create an uber-realistic park (I actually wouldn't want them to, that way they can still work on the aspects of the game). I am really excited for this game and I have a feeling that it might make me switch from RCT3!
  23. That had to be an extremely slow news day. I am willing to bet if the woman didn't call 911 that we wouldn't hear about it even if we were at the park that day.
  24. I still have the 1997, 2000, and 2002 installments that I taped on VHS! I really need to get around to converting them. I have a few VHS tapes of those. I know I have one called "A Making of a Coaster", which followed the construction of Hersheypark's Lightning Racer and Steel Dragon 2000, "The World's Largest Amusement Park" following a day in the life of Cedar Point, and "30 Roller Coasters in 24 Hours" where a bunch of ACErs tried to hit just about all the parks in California in a day. I hope this new one comes out on iTunes since I don't get the Travel Channel. Sounds like an interesting concept judging from the title.
  25. Just getting word from the Inside Hershey Facebook page that Hershey Highmeadow Campground, to celebrate it's 50 year anniversary, is changing it's name to Hersheypark Camping Resort. It will feature a new mascot character, have newly named areas, and is located on a newly named entrance road: Sweet St. Credit: Inside Hershey
