Very good stuff! Especially enjoyed the footage of Thunderhead which is IMHO the best ride in the park. -
What are some loud rides and coasters?
jasper2 replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, the Georgia Scorcher has a cool roar to it, not the loudest but pretty loud walking beside it coming into the park. -

Hard Rock Park - 05/26/08
jasper2 replied to westipher97's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry, I thought they were closed the entire weekend, not just Monday. And I wasn't trying to start anything, if you do a search for Atlantic bike week, even the official website is titled "Black Bike Week." -
Family Kingdom - 05/24/2008
jasper2 replied to sscamatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think it will hurt this park that much. Family Kingdom is a free admission park that for the most part is for smaller kids who's parents will continue to take them to rather than paying $50 to take them to HRP. Our family will be heading down in 2 weeks and we will get our annual Swamp Fox credit, I agree it is not a bad coaster especially in the front. We will ride the Swamp Fox several times along with the log flume, yo-yo swings, and slingshot. -
Hard Rock Park - 05/26/08

I wonder if the park intentionally closed this weekend due to "Black Bike Week." I know that most of the businesses in Myrtle Beach close every Memorial Day weekend due to this event. I would advise that if you are going to Myrtle Beach during this time for anything but bike week, don't go. -
JZ's Six Flags Over Georgia Photo TR!
jasper2 replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would be at the gate early if possible, last year we were able to get into the park and ride Goliath twice before the park was actually scheduled to open. I agree I would head for Goliath first, then swing around to Superman. Then hit GASM if you like woodies, Ninja if you must, I would probably head towards Gotham City then and ride Mindbender, then Batman, then Georgia Scorcher, Georgia Cyclone, Acrophobia, Mine Train. If you are just wanting credits, you can then ride the Canyon Blaster then head for the Monster Plantation near there. Don't Miss(in order IMO): Goliath, Mindbender, Georgia Scorcher, GASM, Superman, Acrophobia, Monster Plantation, Mine Train Hope you enjoy your trip to SFOG, and I hope my tips help. -
TPR's first ever Hard Rock Park PhotoTR
jasper2 replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First of all, great TR. I think MRPM will be a very unique ride, but I am concerned that it could possibly have load problems. I love any park after dark and love the fact that HRP is open from 10am until 1am each day during the summer. I agree it is a little bare right now, but I think it will grow. Myrtle Beach is such a huge vacation spot and when people travel there, they don't care how much money they spend, so the park will stay busy during the summer. I don't think we will have to worry about the park closing. I can't wait to check it out mid-June while I am on vacation there. -

Here is my entry. tpr.bmp From Matterhorn to Draky, I've come a long way!! -
I think it's too early to tell. An employee told me that they were working on all aspects of the park at the same time. He said that most of the steel work on the buildings has been completed, they are starting to put the LZC together and he said they footers for RPM and Midnight Rider had been placed. I understand they are hoping to be testing the Led Zeppelin by December.

We were in Myrtle Beach last week and stopped by the HRP preview center. It was pretty cool and if anyone is in the area, definetly run by there and check it out. They take you through the areas of the park and show you what each area is going to have. The coolest part of the tour is this tunnel in which you walk across a catwalk with a tunnel spinning around you which gives you the sensation of falling down. I hope the coaster will go higher than this, or maybe this is some type of people mover, hooray peoplemover. This is what happens when you insert bolts into the track. Here was some more track and some tracktors. Just behind the tour building we found this parking lot for track, but because we were not track, we could not park there. After walking through the Born in the USA section which will have the Shake Rattle and Rollercoaster and the Slippery When Wet suspended water coaster, we went outside where this guy was guarding the building. This area will also have All the Kings Men carousel, Maximum RPM coaster where you ride up a ferris wheel in an MG convertable into the coaster track, and a stunt show. Next up is the British Invasion area where they had this British Flag painted MG convertable that Elizabeth wanted to ride in. Lost in the 70's was the next area and this is where the tunnel connects you to the British Invasion. Next up is Cool Country, this area will have the Midnight Rider mine train and several cool flat rides. Here is the model of the LZ coaster, looks pretty good to me. First up is Rock and Roll Heaven, this area is where the Led Zeppelin coaster will be. This stained glass window shows 3 southern musical legends, Little Richard, Elvis, and James Brown. So we arrived at Hard Rock Park and Thomas wanted a picture in front of Mount Rockmore, talked to the guy who takes care of this sand sculture and he said he has to repair around the edges every day.

Sorry guys I know you were looking for the juicy Goliath info, but not this time. It was just me and my 47 1/2" son, Thomas. First of all the park did look great, Goliath and Georgia Scorcher were looking mighy fine as you enter the park. As soon as we got into the park we headed for the Mine Train since it was the closest ride that he could ride, and he loved it. We then went to the Canyon Blaster which was surprisingly a pretty good ride, but very short. We sat in the back and I was surprised at the first drop. I didn't have that credit before. It was a hot day in Atlanta so we headed to the very cool Monster Plantation. Next up was the GASM which was much less rough than I remembered it being the last time I rode it. Thomas loved it, it was his first full size coaster. Well at this point we were hungry so we ate corn dogs and then headed for Gotham City. We got in line for the Crime Wave swings and I didn't know if he could get on or not but I saw kids slightly shorter than him getting on so I thought we would be fine, wrong. Just before we got to the front of the line, there was a girl who was about the same height as Thomas and when they measured her it touched her hair so they let her go on, but Thomas came up about 1/4" short, well rules are rules but as we were walking away Thomas said, there were people smaller than me riding, I had to agree with him, they didn't measure everyone, but anyway. Next was the MindBender, which I was afraid he would back out of riding. While we were in line he kept saying, "I think I'm gonna chicken out on you daddy." So I talked to him about it and explained that it would be his first inversion credit and I promised him that if he rode it that I would let Robb Alvey know he rode it since Robb is his hero, so Robb I am letting you know. As we were going up the lift I told him that Schwarzkopf was a genius, and after the first loop he looked at me and said "You're right daddy, Schwarzkopf was a genius." He wanted me to let everyone on here know that the loop was his favorite part of the ride. We then went and rode back to back rockin tug rides. Caught the Log Flume, and Thunder River which we got soaked on, then we rode the mine train again, then Canyon Blaster 3 times in a row as it was close to park closing time. They closed the Blaster and it was after 7 but we ran over to the mine train and found the entrance closed, but they were half loaded on the last train so we ran to the exit and they let us ride on the last train. Thomas had a blast at his first trip to SFOG and doubled his credit count to 8. I only got one credit out of the deal, but had a blast with just me and my son, yeah I would have loved to been able to ride the big rides, but being able to take him was great.
