  1. Really guys.. I think it's pretty clear what they are doing.. Intimidated 185
  2. I thought the Frequent Faller was a cool concept, but to put it right in Founder's Circle was a bad idea! I want them to preserve the look of the park in that area and Comet Hollow (if you can't tell). It would've looked fine in Midway America shoved in some corner though. The Screamscape rumor today is interesting about the station possibly being in the old skyride station towards the front of the park. Maybe they need an extra year to tear down the old arena and build the coaster in that direction. But then the markings over by the Comet don't make sense. Wasn't there a rumor before about creating a new entrance for the park? Maybe Hersheypark Arena is going to finally meet its maker.. I'm not sure if they use it too much now aside from some high school events. Plus, I hear from people that have been to those events that it's starting to look pretty bad inside. It could make sense for the long duration of build time.. On the other hand, I would be completely happy with a Griffon clone! Maybe even a roller skater and junior inverted coaster too!
  3. Because the world ends in 2012. They're obviously building it for '11 to give everyone at least one year to enjoy it. The world ends in December 2012! That gives everyone a full operating season to enjoy the Flying Carp. Oh and why would the one guy wear a French Beret? I wonder if that is some kind of random clue.. Hmmm..
  4. ^^^ I don't know if I would even want them to shove a new coaster in that part of the park without removing SDL.. talk about steel support overkill! I love the Great Bear but the amount of gaudy supports towering over Comet Hollow is depressing! I can't imagine them fitting even just a station in this area. Where would the track/lift hill go, where would the queue go and how would it get back into the station without ruining the entire area? Plus, what's the point of a splashdown that no one can see? To have it interact with people you'd have to have it in Comet Hollow. Not going to happen with the existing coasters/rides/queues. I'll be the first to admit it if I'm way off but regardless of what survey markers are down by the Tilt A Whirl, Comet, and Swing Ride, I don't see that being anything more than maybe for a badly placed drop tower in the lowest section of the park. But then, for Hershey to bypass an announcement for a drop tower in 2011 wouldn't happen either. Plus, drop towers take up a lot of space for the ride and long slow moving queue, again which you aren't smashing into Comet Hollow. Someone please paint a realistic idea for me on a 200+ foot coaster starting off and ending in this area? Thanks! I forgot to add this for those of you unfamiliar with Hershey. Here is Comet Hollow. White is the Comet, SDL is blue, and purple is the Great Bear. There's not much space!
  5. Here's my new design for what will definitely be.. without a shadow of a doubt.. 100 percent positive.. Hersheypark's 2012 new coaster. Sadly.. SDL was removed and moved to Dutch Wonderland.. where it will never be reassembled because it's a terrain coaster. However, the new coaster pays homage to SDL by keeping its helix and being painted blue.. not 14k gold. I don't think there will be a water element. I think that's just a clue that hints at the coaster going over the old pool area. Maybe they could make a splash down in the creek but lots of very large carp would not appreciate that. Enjoy! Hershey 2012!
  6. Where are all of you guys getting on this Intamin kick anyways? If all we know is 200+ feet and water element this thing has B&M Dive Coaster or Hyper coaster written all over it. I'm a little concerned now though because Comet Hollow is cramped and SDL's station and break run look like a perfect spot to place a lift hill.. and on the other side of the bank is your return run back. It would be nice to see a drop tower in 2011 though. Two years of adding nothing is really unHershey like, but that could explain why they would make an announcement in the Spring to hold us over for another year (and to take down the SDL..)
  7. LOL that is creepy yet the best way to start this whole "game" ever! It's such a tight spot to fit a coaster of this magnitude that I'm really interested to see how this comes together.
  8. I just found this on Youtube, I sometimes watch this guy and some other "Vloggers" (ShayCarl shout out!). Anyways, this is a great video with a look inside the houses! MOD EDIT: Links removed. Universal has a strict anti-video/photography policy within their houses and we can not display links to material that violates their rules.
  9. I agree with you saying Potter pushes the limits as far as a simulator goes. I can usually handle those types of rides pretty well but for some reason I get a little sick and disoriented on Potter! I thought I was just getting old... still a great ride though but doesn't come close to beating Soarin' as my number one non coaster.. MMmm Orange..
  10. Aside from the larger rides, I do enjoy roller skaters. I think Vekoma could do a good business just building (hopefully custom) roller skaters. Now those mini inverted coasters.. if you can't build a 30 foot tall ride that doesn't murder you, you shouldn't be building 100 foot tall SLCs! I feel bad for and dont understand how park officials would go ride a Vekoma and look at each other and say with excitement "we NEED one of these!" and end up building one.. but I feel worse for the people who go to that park, get beat up, and think that its the best coaster ever.
  11. The only piece of information that I need to hear about Vekoma to judge their quality is the fact that a seat FLEW off of BG! No thank you! However like you all said.. Everest and RNR show that they can make some great rides, they just need to be supervised!
  12. Congrats!! That's so awesome! My dream wedding is to have a small thing like you guys and instead of having all of the fancy (and expensive) reception stuff, I'd rather just a small ceremony in a pavilion at Knoebels and then for the reception everyone goes and enjoys the park. It'd work out great since my girlfriend and I both hate dancing and love Knoebels!
  13. Wow if it does go out to the golf course ponds like you indicated that'd be awesome! It seems really far away though to be a possible splash down. Plus until they expand over that way it won't have the "wow" factor for bystanders. Maybe it means more of a Maverick or Manta type interaction with water jets. Has it been confirmed that the station is going to be where the Tilt-a-whirl is? It would be easy to put the station there and have the lift hill along the bank of the creek but getting BACK to the station would require some fancy work with it having to either go around the Comet or through the Comet avoiding the SDL helix and over the walkway while not interfering with the swings and Comet queue. It would definitely be fun to meet up and discuss ideas If I get time later I'll make another artists rendition
  14. I'm telling you guys.. the Dippin Dots guy gave me this picture I posted earlier! In all honesty, I'm thinking the layout WILL stretch over to where the old pool was. If it's Intamin I'm hoping it would be a megalite type ride only around 200 feet tall. I PRAY it's not a Eurofighter because with Storm Runner and Fahrenheit there's no need for anymore inversions, vertical lifts, or vertical'ish drops in Hersheypark for the time being! I think a Dive Coaster would be pretty cool though. The larger trains and hold brake and 75 extra feet would at least add something to another vertical drop The man made pond they are talking about yeah... FILLED WITH CHOCOLATE! Chocolate Splash Down! Ok gross. I would like to see a more heavily themed coaster though. I have no idea what they would do in that part of the park but Hershey used to be a decent THEME park back in the 90's, but ever since the Playskool Vomit water area and Ugh.. Reese's Embarrassingly Extreme Cup Challenge it seems like they are content to just keep plopping rides down with the only real theming being in the rides signage. I'd still really love to see something like that new haunted house at Kennywood in Hershey. ^ I wish I was still in PA to meet up. Sounds like a good time! Eric
  15. That.. is.. beautiful! Such a great idea and that new first drop looks sweet! If this transformation rides anywhere near as good as it looks we're going to be seeing this approach all over the place! I can think of a bunch of wooden coasters that have so much potential! Too bad this wasn't an option for Hercules.
  16. ^I'm pretty sure it will be raining feces and tears when I ride one of these things. Any ride that is not in an enclosed cabin and goes up 400 feet... that's thrilling!
  17. Personally this is my favorite time of the year when parks start throwing around hints and waiting to find out and finally see the concept art/animations! Especially because I know there's a good chance I won't get to ride whatever it is for a few years. The only annoying thing about it is annoying people complaining about how annoying it is.
  18. I too think the Great Bear is wayy underrated! Sure it's not one of the more intense Inverts but it's so unique and just plain fun and rerideable I don't understand why some people dislike it! Now Fahrenheit.. I LIKE Fahrenheit, but I'd LOVE Fahrenheit if it was at a park that didn't already have Storm Runner. My gripe about Fahrenheit and Hersheypark in general over the last few years is that the park had a lot more of a traditional, trolley park feel until they added the Boardwalk. Then they added Fahrenheit... which I see as being way to similar to Storm Runner. Then they take out CRR and add moreee waterpark! Now yes.. I know Hersheypark's attendance is booming and that's awesome, but I would personally rather have seen Hershey use the land they acquired from the old golf course and build a stand alone waterpark, never have built that embarrassing POS Reese's Extreme Cup Challenge and instead of Fahrenheit, built a REAL dark ride (see Kennywood). That might make some of you mad but I hope some of us mid 20's and older people would agree with me that Hersheypark has become wayyy too corporate over the last 10 years and lost a lot of it's charm. I do love Hersheypark but I'll gladly drive the extra hour to Knoebels, not bend over and take it to pay for parking ($12 now?), and then pay $50 on top of that. (Luckily I havent had to pay for Hersheypark the last few years). I'd rather go to Knoebels, eat amazing great priced food, and drop the other $40 I saved at the Hollywood Casino on the way home! To end my rant.. Hersheypark season pass $140... UNIVERSAL ORLANDO FL RESIDENT ANNUAL PASS $140. C'mon Hershey.. really?
  19. There is no ride in the world that would justify removing the Comet! I hope Hersheypark knows that. I'd rather see them remove Fahrenheit! I'm not worried... really..
  20. You know.. I'm moving back to Florida this weekend and if Hershey FINALLY gets the drop tower that I've been waiting for since my first visit to Cedar Point in 1999, I will be mad! Happy.. but mad! However, the fact that they use Storm Runner as an example in the teaser makes me think it will be some kind of coaster.. and it will be the tallest in the park. Aside from my awesome "concept art" a few pages back though I don't see where else they are going to fit this thing!
  21. Great pictures! Some of the best I've seen on TPR! I didn't realize this park was so nice looking. I also want to know what Cyclone Sams is (EDIT- nevermind..) .. that has to be one of the coolest looking buildings in any park!
  22. I agree with most people on here as far as Universal (especially IOA) not adding new attractions enough to keep people interested, but it's also not even remotely possible to compare Universal parks attendance with Disney. I dont think ANYONE, especially guest relations, wants Universal to compete with Disney with attendance because the parks are TINY compared to Epcot or Magic Kingdom, and probably even smaller than Disney Studios. When I worked at Universal, a 30k day was a BUSY day. That's probably an average day at MK. I think MK maxes out around 75k (if I can remember right), and Universal and IOA are around half that, maybe a tad more. It would be very interesting to see how the attendance in each park in Orlando compares to something like "guests per acre" or something like that. Obviously Universal is not geared specifically towards younger kids, and having only three onsite resorts (which again are tiny compared to the tens of thousands hotel rooms on Disney property), PLUS the fact that Disney (and Universal) have the consecutive day ticket plans that are designed to keep you on property and make you feel like you're wasting money by going up or down I-4 to visit BGA, UNi, or SW. I do however think what Universal does.. it does very well, and even though attendance could always go up a bit, I'm pretty sure Universal is doing great for what they expect (not 17 million people!)
  23. Wow they are making some fast progress! I was at Knoebels a week and a half ago and I already think there's more than enough to do there (especially if you count all of the amazing food). When they open Black Diamond and the Flying Turns though they'll have two more major additions (and classic) additions to their already amazing line up. I'm very excited!
  24. Every time there is talk about Hersheypark getting a new rollercoaster I open up good old Microsoft Paint and come up with what *I* think they should get! Of course over the past few years all I've wanted was a hypercoaster and a drop tower, so I'm never right. Since there are apparently survey markers by the Comet, here's my prediction PS- In all actuality, I'm praying they don't throw something else down by the Great Bear, Coal Cracker, and SDL! Comet Hollow is already dominated by the Great Bears funky supports. Short and sweet HYPERCOASTER!
