  1. How do you figure? To my knowledge, they're the same ride design by two different MANUFACTURERS. So a comparison bwtween the two is just. With that said, I have been one one of each. Millienium Force: Tall, Fast, and nothing else Nitro: Airtime, airtime, and more airtime. Seeing as how that's what it was designed to simulate, I'd give it a big fat MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. DB, Nitro, Raging Bull, etc. are all hypers. Millie's a Giga amd it alot taller than the tallest B&M hyper? Don't you think that's a little unfair?
  2. From my recollection neither of the two I've been on, Wicked Twister & Steel Venom, I've never noticed inconsistencies. If their is some it most definitely has to do with the weight of the combined train+riders.
  3. Thanks for the video. I'm always interesting in watching the vids. Even though so far they're all relatively the same.
  4. My vote: B&M. Why are people comparing Millennium Force to stuff like Diamondback? Those are two different types of coasters. You should be comparing DB to Superman: Ride of Steel or something like that. Not a monstrous that's supposed to deliver a whole different experience than B&M mega coasters.
  5. I can't remember all my firsts but I know my first "real" coaster was the Beast. I was probably 7 when I rode it. The bad part, it was night and it scared the crap out of me. Maybe that's why it's now my favorite?
  6. Nice TR. I always enjoy reading/hearing about KI and the Cincinnati area. It stinks that the Crypt is in such decline. I rode it about this time last year and it was the best ride I ever had on it. It was intense and fast! Even better than when it was Tomb Raider. I guess they neutered it since then. Glad you had a good time. I anticipate the pics.
  7. Nice pics on both TR's. I really want to ride that Flight Deck. It's definitely alot better than the one at King's Island.
  8. ^Yeah, if I understood what he was saying correctly that's how it works. Nice diagram.
  9. Generally speaking it's still the same type of system, there are teeth on the lift and a dog on the bottom of the train. As long as the train is moving forward the dog will drag over the teeth and only allow for one way movement. What Intamin has done with their lift systems (chain and cable) is something similar to their eddy current brakes. Essentially the dog is balanced on some fulcrum that the front end (off center from the roll back strip) is being pushed downwards (by the resistive force of the eddy current brake) and that in turn lifts the chain dog upwards so you don't get the click-clack noise you normally get on coasters. Just like with their brakes, the resistive force is proportional to the speed at which the train is traveling so if the train begins to slow it will lose that force and the chain dog will fall down into the teeth of the rollback system preventing the train from traveling backwards. Every once in a while rides like Millennium Force will be traveling slower than normal up the lift and you can hear the loud click-clack of the dogs because not enough of a magnetic field is being induced to hold the dog up. If you've heard Millennium Force's anti-rollback system you'll know that it's LOUD too! You can sort of hear what I'm talking about in the first few seconds of this video as the train slows down on the lift. Thanks for answering the question. I was wondering because you didn't hear the "clickity-clack" noise. Now I see how the whole mechanism works; which is very interesting and intuitive on Intamin's behalf.
  10. Kraken is the best. Runner up, Dominator.
  11. I think the truss part of the lift hill is, yes, going to be used for the beginning of the lift, but also on other parts of the lift; which is not going to be vertical by th way. On a side note what is the anti-rollback mechanism like on a cable lift coaster. I know it's not like the traditional John Allen style.
  12. Nice TR. Where's the video?
  13. Wow, if this does turn out to be a Diamondback/Behemoth type hyper who cares? They're both really great rides.
  14. Nice video. Those lights are "rave-tastic"; they're crazy.
  15. That's an awesome roller coaster. I love how intense it is from beginning to end. All the air time hills deliver the substantial airtime and the turns are nicely designed. 10/10
  16. Son of Beast looks great. Just address what Reon and DBru said and it should be perfect.
  17. Their has even been a considerable amount of commercials and other mentions on HRRRRRRR on the radio down here.
  18. I think the Voyage in the back seat is the best. You get floater air all the way down.
  19. I was also thinking this might be a launched coaster. But the biggest throw off is the packages saying "Giga Coaster" on 'em.
  20. I'm goin' with "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". I have a question though. I imagine you pick one song per car or even train, wont that create alot of arguments among the people getting on the ride? I still don't know how this things gonna work.
  21. Great TR! The Cliff's picks were nice. I always like to see pics of "homey" parks. And the Nuclear Museum was awesome. I love that type of stuff. So all in all the TR was an A+++++++
