  1. This is an amazing addition to the park. This was my home park when I was growing up and I went there every year from 1989 to 1997 when I was younger. I've seen this park go through insane transition periods with rides and themed areas and I really love what direction Knott's is headed in and I think this ride offers a great experience for people on the West Coast that have no idea what the hell a Dive Coaster is. Even though the picture rendering may not be the high quality like the other announcements today, I still think it's great to see the elements this ride will offer and the great color scheme. Plus, being a former surfer when I lived in Cali, I 100% approve of this ride's theming and name. I also love that they placed a thrill seeker ride next to some other family rides so if someone from the Family wants to go on a thrilling ride, the rest of the family can enjoy some of the other not as thrilling rides. The unfortunate thing is that we will be visiting both Knott's and Sea World San Diego in a couple months and these rides won't come till next year. Oh well, just means we shall have to come back to Cali. Jimmy "This was my favorite announcement of the day...minus my son telling me that he farted in is Kindergarten class and everyone laughed" Bo
  2. This is awesome. I really enjoyed Hurler when I went on it back in 2001 and I thought it had some decent g-forces and great airtime. It's nice to see that they are keeping some of those crazy airtime elements and throwing in some even more insane elements. I love that parks on the East Coast are doing more things for the Holiday season...that just makes it easier to travel out there because not all of us can escape during the summer time to hit up some of these parks. Jimmy "I guess I should have submitted my resume to RMC when I had the chance" Bo
  3. I don't really care for them. I'm an old school nerd and I like the standard photo of a roller coaster. Jimmy "If you can get 2 coasters in one shot...through the trees...during the sunset...then I'll give you all my money!" Bo
  4. ^ The Beer Garden! Too many drunk people spilling their beers so it ate into the soil and it's just horrible soil to build on.
  5. HOLY CRAP! That looks like such a fun ride! I don't really know much about the movies at all but the ride seems like a lot of fun. A lot of different elements and good use of real effects and projections. AWESOME! Jimmy "I really need to get over to Dubai" Bo
  6. Part 3 - The Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, CA. If you are a fan of the Peanuts Comic Strip and all the movies and books associated with them, then you will love this place. If you are a kid (or adult) looking to meet Charlie Brown and Snoopy and the rest of the Gang, then don't come here. Santa Rosa is where Charles M. Schulz lived and wrote most of his comic strips for Peanuts. This Museum was a really cool experience because it had a ton of original comic strips that he made. The size of the strips was a lot larger than I expected and the way that he mailed them to the Newspaper Company was that he folded up the strips and put them in an envelope and sent them in by mail. Then the Newspaper would send them back when they made their prints. The museum also had a recreation of his office with the actual desk and drafter's table that he used (kindly donated by his wife). This was a place I could have spent all day in by just reading the amount of Comic Strips everywhere but I had to get on my flight back home. There was also an Ice Rink, Cafe with Fire Place, and a giant Gift Shop just across the street from the Museum. Enjoy the pictures! Surprise Visit! Charles M. Schulz Museum! Charlie Brown wants you to make sure you have your tickets! Once you walk in, there's already Comic Strips on the wall. Original Strips everywhere! Down the hallway, this was on the entire wall. Can you guess what it is made of? You get closer and it's a ton of comics. So cool! This room had the more original strips. They rotate the strips they show in this room about once a month (so i was told) so you are sure to see different ones. See how big the originals are compared to what you see in the newspaper? So cool! Everyone loves Snoopy! My sons love Snoopy's cousin Spike because he's from the desert. Spike is pretty funny! An original sketch and idea before it was made into a Comic Strip. "Of all the Charlie Brown's in the world...you're the Charlie Browniest" Old school Charlie Brown and Snoopy! Alright...time to move into the next exhibit... I'm not allowed to post every picture I took in here...but it was pretty cool seeing the transformation of the comic strip that eventually became a book. Also, everyone loves the World War I Flying Ace and his battle with the infamous Red Baron. There was a section where you could write on an actual typewriter. I'm sure some kids don't even know what the hell a typewriter is these days... Some Snoopy Toys and Typewriters you could get. It was a really well done exhibit. The temporary exhibit when I was there was a tribute to "It was a dark and stormy night" I'm sure some people didn't realize that it became an actual book...but here it is... Even the former Governor of California enjoyed the book! On my way to the next exhibit I saw this thing... What?!?! You look inside the holes and there were little characters inside Pretty cute for the kiddos They had an education room upstairs. This is where you could learn to draw Peanuts characters and they had movies on all day. Great place to drop the kids off while parents could walk around the rest of the museum. Peanuts all over the World! Sparky's Studio! Here it is...a re-creation in all it's glory. They even placed the bookshelves around the area and placed the typical book he would have in them. If you haven't seen the original cartoon, I recommend it because it's pretty funny and entertaining. Time to head outside and see what's out there. Under Construction Charlie Brown in the foreground and the Kite Eating Tree in the background. Poor Charlie Brown's kite... You could even sit under a giant baseball hat and read some Comic Strips. Time to head across the street... Gotta love the old technology here... Another temporary exhibit they had was for the musical "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" Charles Schulz was really into ice skating so they built this ice skating rink across the street from the museum. Snoopy's out front to greet you. Time to check out the ice rink. It was nice and cool in here. There was also a Cafe next to the ice rink. Here's the cafe inside. Great view to watch people fall on their butts trying to ice skate. When it gets colder, they actually still use this fireplace to warm up the cafe. Thanks Charlie Brown! Time to head over to the Giant Gift Shop. Woodstock is making sure you're following the rules. Standard merchandise store but they had a lot of unique things inside as well. This report has gone off the rails and is coming to an end... ....thanks for reading...time to sleep.
  7. Part 2 - Animals and Family atmosphere. What some people don't realize is that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has a great zoo portion of their park and has some great animal experiences and shows. Since the stupid movie Blackfish came out, California basically made SFDK get rid of their Killer Whales (which are actually down in Sea World San Diego according to a ride op) so they are focusing their park around "Cupid" the Dolphin. The Dolphin show is now the main attraction and "Cupid" is the star. They also have a lot of other shows throughout the day, like the Tiger Show, Sea Lion Show, Reptile Show, "Wild" animal show, etc. Since the last time I was here, they have added a lot of areas for kids and families to enjoy together. I think it's a great addition and a great set up because they have most of the thrill rides on a couple areas of the park and then the kiddie areas are scattered throughout. Me having 2 young boys and they are totally into Thomas the Train, I thought it was hilarious walking through the old "Thomas Land" and seeing what Six Flags had to do to keep that area. Below are the pictures so enjoy. Part 3 will be coming up later and it's a total surprise that no one will be expecting....unless you follow me on Facebook... We are still here at SFDK and now it's time to check out the animals and family stuff around the park. Theming The Dolphins are the main attraction here now...poor Killer Whales. Anyone remember the name of the Killer Whale? The new Dolphin Arena They do lots of tricks and the trainers interact with them a lot during the show. Is that a Jet Ski of dolphin racers? YAY CUPID! The star of the show! You can also swim with the Dolphins. Now it's time to check out the animals that eat dolphins! SHARK SHARK SHARK! It may seem like it's sleeping...but it'll bite your hand off if you get near it. This eel is hiding from the sharks...smart eel. Steve Irwin's final resting place. These guys were pretty big and they feel like slime. Jacko the Walrus....Jack - o - k - what's with the name? Walrus loving under the sea Time to feed some Seals Mine? Mine? Mine? Time for the Sea Lion Show! Themed around water. Well that's great since it's 101 out today. Fun Fact...Sea Lions are not Lions That damn otter kept stealing the wrench and bad stuff kept happening. Perfect form! Is that a Sea Lion or a Trainer? You decide. Perfect form! Is that a Sea Lion or a Trainer? You decide. Wannabe dolphin. Ridin the Sea Lion Penguins! After going to Antarctica, none of these penguin exhibits do anything for me anymore. Especially since they still stink and waddle everywhere. Bugs Bunny sighting! Where's he going? He's going to his themed kiddie area for some play time! Wouldn't Elmer try and pop balloons Pepe Le Pew's tea cup's of romance. Kiddie swings go really fast! I found where Bugs went...silly wabbit! Play area. I showed my kids these pictures and they have no idea who the hell Looney Tunes are. They would much rather watch Mickey and Donald than Bugs and Daffy. Oh well...at least there's an area for them to run around in. There's also a coaster! I got this credit last time I was here so I didn't have to be that creepy old guy riding a kiddie coaster by himself. Adios Bugs and Looney Tunes area! Wait...this used to be something else.... On the Map they literally just took the faces off of the rides at Thomas Lan...err...Seaside Junction. Everything still has the original colors from the Thomas brand. Hey look it's Thomas the Trai...err...Big Train. Big Train? No joke...the name of the train was Big Train. Totally original! Time for a ride on Thoma...er...Big Train. Hey look! It's the Red Engine and has name is James...oh wait...never mind...it's just a train. Hey look! It's Tidmouth Sheds...err...never mind...it's just a place where trains sleep at night. Hey look! It's Sir Topham Hats Office...err...never mind...it's just some place where there was a ton of Christmas lights hanging around. WTH?! Hey look! It's Bertie the Bus...err...never mind...it's just some school bus now. Hey look! It's Cranky the Crane...err...never mind...it's just some crane in the middle of the walkway. Hey look! It's Harold the helicopter...err...never mind...it's some repainted penguin helicopter. Nice Six Flags...I definitely couldn't tell this used to be a Thomas Land at all! They have mutant butterflies here too! Welcome to Butterfly. What...that's the name of this place? Butterfly? Not Butterfly Garden or Butterfly exhibit? It's just Butterfly? Well, at least there''s butterflies here. Why did I take a picture of this tree? Oh well...moving on... Aquatrax coming soon! You heard it here first ladies and gentlemen! Taking a stroll around the backside of the park you get a nice view of the lake! Time for the Tiger Show. Odin is World Famous as the first Tiger to jump into the water and for people to watch. Frozen Coke and Tiger Show time! Let's feed them milk? Sure! Why not? This show was more of showing what they do in their natural habitat and not jumping through rings and stuff. This guy climb a tree. And then they jump in the water several times after food. Food meaning trying to get the kids in the front row. Time to check out the babies. The backside of water! Tiny Ferret Faucet What's in the bag? Seriously? What is it? Take a guess on what this thing might be...you might win a prize! The old elephant exhibit is now a giant kids play area. They had some great play structures for kiddos to run around in. Here's the Food Court. I was impressed with the options. They had Pizza, Burgers, Fish and Chips, Sandwiches, Asian Food, Beer...great selection. After a giant Burger and Beer filled lunch I decided to go light on Dinner. Thanks Discovery Kingdom for a great day! Even though it was hot, there were no crowds and the employees were fantastic. Part 3 will be up shortly....
  8. This time, I had to head up to Northern California for a wedding so I decided to make a side trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Last time I visited this park was 10 years ago when they had a wooden coaster, elephants and still had Killer Whale Shows. I think the improvements to the park made since my last visit have been pretty amazing. They've added a couple kid areas for the family, re-done the Killer Whale Arena to now include the dolphins, added a kick @$$ RMC coaster that was a sleeper hit on this trip and so much more. This first part will focus more on the rides and then Part 2 will focus on the animals experiences the park has to offer and then Part 3 will be a special surprise that you'll all have to wait for... Superman Ultimate Flight - This was my first Premier Impulse coaster of this type and I was certainly lucky because I got to sit in the front row for 3 straight rides. There was no one in line when the park opened and the ride ops were great and let the people stay on the coaster. This thing was a ton of fun and really kicked it into high gear on the last launch up and over the top. Great Ride! Joker - HOLY SH*T! This was my first RMC Coaster and it was amazing! I don't think I could explain how great this thing was. I got to ride in every row because there weren't many people at the park and the back row was insane on the first drop. This thing was just an all around awesome ride and I can't wait to ride more of their rides in the future. Wonder Woman - Opened this year and it is now "Officially" the fastest ride in the park. Your typical Giant Swing that hauls butt and they really made her fit in a tight spot! V2 - Same as 10 years ago but I like this version without the vertical spike in the front. KONG - Kicked my butt...or my head...seriously painful. Medusa - This is still one of my favorite Floorless Coasters and I love the layout. That first loop is HUGE and the weird wannabe Cobra Roll Medusa Snake Head Inversion backflip awesomeness is still a great inversion! Great Park that didn't have huge crowd. Part 2 will follow shortly! Breakfast of Champions! The best view of LA...covered in SMOG! After waking up at 3am to get a 5am flight from Tucson to LA and then LA to Oakland and then rental car and then drive to the park...I arrived at 9:45am at Discovery Kingdom! I think it's going to be a light crowd today. Great view from the Parking Lot. I'm already tired but I'm here and I'm gunna make the most of it! Time to head into the Ocean of Rides down at the front of the Park. Anyone who has been here, knows that they jam pack the rides in this area. Now add Wonder Woman and it's even more crowded. Superman Ultimate Flight...but it's not a flying coaster like the other Ultimate Flights around the world... It's a bird...it's a plane...no...it's a train exploding out of the sun and flying through the course of the ride! To quote the famous Robb Alvey..."Twisty!!!!" Great ride! Down the pathway lies a Woman that is Wonderful! I think I'll just wait here until Gal Gadot shows up! This thing swings really fast...really high...and I wish they spun more. It really does tower over this section of the park.... ...And it towers under this section of the park....with a footer in the Parking Lot Area where the Tram drives. Wonder Woman is a great addition to the park. This beast kicked total @$$! My first RMC and it was amazing! I loved the theming and the creepy carnival soundtrack with the Joker laughing hysterically HA HA HA The very calm left hill and then things get crazy This first drop was insane. This was my first "What the hell is this inversion" moment of the ride. "Through the Trees" V2...Vertiacl Velocity but only one spike is vertical so it should really be called V1? Velocity through the station! This inversion is way better than a vertical spike! There was a nicely themed Penguin ride where everyone got soaked. It got 101 degrees the day I was there. Another ride to get wet on. Did I mention it got 101 degrees the day I was there. Daffy Duck! Time for lunch... Hey look...a bar! Lunch time. With Wonder Woman on the other side of the park, I have a feeling this little guy may be gone in a few years. I guess we are headed into the Sky now. Games area. The carnies...ugh...employees were really trying to get people to play. SHARK SHARK SHARK Yeah...rode this back in 2007 and I don't need to ride it again. This was not one of my favorite rides back then because it hurt like being bit by a shark. What the heck is this thing? I guess I'll check it out. There's some great theming of Monkey Destruction. Now, I'm headed into a dark building and I still have no idea what this thing is. Oh look...I'm going to be doing this all by myself. This thing hauled @$$ the entire ride. Great ride and it makes my not miss ROAR at all! It ended up being one of those motion 5d theaters but it wasn't in 3d but it still moved and had water effects so does that make it still 4d? I confused myself. Time to head down to the other section of the park with rides. Kiddie Credit! Cobra is a fun ride for the families and it's so damn LOUD! Oh look! A "coaster" according to Six Flags. KONG! Yeah...OUCH! Time to ride a hot looking lady with snakes on her head. HUGE LOOPY LOOP! Great Floorless Coaster. Anyone know the actual term for this inversion? What ever its called, it's awesome! Giant Swing ride was another addition and offered a great view of this area of the park. Anyone can have Harley Quinn $1,299 a night! Boomerang was closed when I was in this area of the park....darn! Now it's time to head back to the front of the park and rest in the hotel across the street before I continue the rest of the day. Time to Freestyle! Hey Superman...want a Coke? And here's the lake that runs along the park. Part 2 will be coming shortly!
  9. This really was a great read and super enjoyable. I'm so glad that people can find "other" things to do that are just as entertaining as going to Amusement Parks. Your honest commentary on Adventures by Disney really makes me want to go on one of these tours. I just can't wait for the kiddos to get a little older so they could enjoy the sites and sounds of different cultures and areas too. I really enjoyed the video too. Not as good as your old-school Theme Park Expedition Videos but it was very enjoyable and it seemed to capture some of the best moments of your trip. Thanks for sharing! Jimmy "No sea-sickness on River Cruises is a win in my book!" Bo
  10. It was only $5 at WOF for the upcharge...I pretty much had that in quarters from the Casino. I don't know what the other places around the Country are charging for these things but I don't think I would pay anymore than the $5 because a lot of the animatronics were worn out and some didn't work. It was still a nice walkthrough. Jimmy "Plus, I got to see a dinosaur butt" Bo
  11. ^ Thanks Larry! It's my first new park since visiting Mall of America in 2014. It's a bit harder to make these trips nowadays since I have young kiddos running around. So when I'm going on a business trip anywhere near anything...I will take the extra time to make a trip to a park. Glad you enjoyed the read! ^^ ytterbiumanalyst, I thought I heard someone mention the "River Boat" Casino thing while I was having drinks at a bar and I thought it seemed outrageous and they drank too much. I guess they were right and it totally makes sense why the "River Boat" theming was in the back of the hotel. Jimmy "I'd love to see the Casino actually float on a river!" Bo
  12. ^ Your Bonus Points are a pat on the back! Glad someone reads these things! Now it's time for the fun time I had before I even set foot in Worlds of Fun... My flight got into Kansas City at 8:30, I got my bag, got my rental car, and then arrived at the Holiday Inn right across the street form Worlds of Fun at about 9:30. When I came to the front desk of the hotel, I found a man being extremely rude to the lady at the counter about his room not being ready. He stormed off to the bar all pissed off and cursing under his breath. I came up to the desk and asked if I could check in. The wonderful lady at the desk (her name was Brittany), told me that they overbooked the hotel and that she didn't have a room for me. I decided not to be an @$$hole like the guy in front of me so I politely asked her my options. She told me that all the hotels within 20 miles were full except the Casino. Me, having never been to this city before, had no idea what the Casino was so I said I'll just stay there. She then mentioned that the Casino cost $150 more than what I paid for, for my room at the Holiday Inn. I told her that it didn't matter...it was late and I just needed a room. Brittany than told me I had to take some paperwork to the Casino and that Holiday Inn would pay for my Holiday Inn room cost and then I would have to pay the rest and then I told her that was fine. Next, she told me a route to the Casino that would avoid all the construction they were doing on the highway. I said thanks and I wished her the best with the rest of her night. I proceeded to the Ameristar Casino and to my surprise...it was actually a pretty awesome place! It still had live music going on, a bar right up front and a great surrounding inside. I walked to the front desk where I was helped by Theresa, and told her that I was the guy the Holiday Inn sent over. I was expecting to pay for my room so I started to pull out my credit card but then she told me that Brittany from the Holiday Inn called back over and that they worked something out so my room was FREE! That's right...FREE! So instead of being a complete jerk and actually being nice in the situation, good things do happen. I walked around the Casino and it was pretty great. Below are the pictures of my FREE night and morning of the Ameristar Casino. Enjoy! I was greeted to Shining Lights and Music to the Casino When Casinos have a fake sky, you know they are legit Casinos! This was the Depot Bar in the front with Live Music and a place to eat inside a train car! Colorful Fountains! This was their Buffet. It was very well themed to America! The venue where shows are held to the left and a HUGE play area for kids on the right. I guess for the parents that want to gamble their kids college tuition away, they can at least put them in an area to play. Another Restaurant! The next morning, I got to see what it really looks like...not bad. Any place that has Canadian Geese roaming the parking lot is a win in my back. I'm sure Gertrude would be proud! They even have theming at the back of the hotel to a River Boat! And the train out Front lets you know where you are. It truly was a great time!
  13. Dinosaurs Alive! This was a $5 upcharge attraction at Worlds of Fun. I thought it was really well done but there were some animatronics that didn't work when I walked by and it also looked like nature has taken over some of the Dinosaurs. That being said, kids would really enjoy how the Dinosaurs come to life and interact with you. There were also some Dinosaurs that you could move by pushing their buttons...that's right...their buttons! Anyway...on to the pictures of Dinosaurs Alive!! Dinosaurs Alive! Signage right before you enter a time travel machine and it takes you back in time to see real life Dinosaurs. Time Portal! BAM! Now we are back in time! Look! Jurassic Park III Irritator really irritates its prey to death! A Dinosaurs who's buttons you can push and it'll move for you! It's a Trap!! Now we are in Jurassic Park II His name is Al! There's something behind me in the trees.... Oh look...this one is half buried. What a Horny Dinosaur! A triple Horny Dinosaur! Time for Horns! I'm out of Horny jokes Time for music! Say that name 5 times fast... A dino with a weapon on its tail. I see something long and straight ahead in the trees.... What a long neck... Check it out! What a neck! And then this little guy thinks he can take out that large of a Dinosaur. My money's on the tiny one. And they even made the dinosaurs anatomically correct...I see its butt... It looks like this guy doesn't want to be messed with Another one where you can push its buttons The real reasons dinosaurs died out...they couldn't swim... It think there's supposed to be water around them but ... they're dying... More dines dying! I think the squirrels got this one. Oh look! Science-y things The most accurate rock formation you will ever see! Little reading material. Oh damn...they really did die by drowning... And now we are digging for them...Oh geez...this is getting morbid... Look at all the dinosaur bones!!!!! GIANT DINO!!!! Gigantenous indeed! What is this dinosaur looking at and why is he pissed off? Oh...I see...He sees a trash can and a waterslide he can't get to...I feel his pain. The more you know! What is that? It's Little Foot from Land Before Time! He's so cute! Long-neck.... Now it's time for the main attraction! I think I see something... Be vewy vewy quiet...we are hunting Tywanasorwus Wex. There he is! Oh god! He saw me! RUN!!!! This thing is HUGE! I got my money on the Triceratops He just looks pissed off! Looks like the T-Rew got a bite out of the Triceratops. This little guy is pissed! NOT OUR DINO!!! WAIT!?!?! IT IS OUR DINO!!!!! Time for a group hug! All these little guys are hugging the big guy to the ground. He's just hugging him to death kids...it's ok! Another Button pusher... Mooooo! There's babies! It's a family reunion! The Titan of the Oloros And the real reason that dinosaurs died out...they put them next to Boomerang. Thanks for the great time Dinos! But seriously...why next to Boomerang!?!?!
  14. I had to go to Tulsa for a business trip so I decided to take a detour to Kansas City to go to Worlds of Fun. This was my first visit to Worlds of Fun and I must say that this is a great family park. There are a ton of rides for the entire family to enjoy...for the young ones and for the thrill seekers. Unfortunately my WOF experience was cut short due to weather closing every single ride, but I was able to do everything I wanted within 2 hours. Here's some highlights... Spinning Dragons - Just your typical Spinning Coaster and I don't like the inside facing ones. I'd much rather be facing outwards. I'm glad I did this low-capacity ride first, because when I was done there was already a 20 minute wait. Patriot - I was super impressed with this B&M coaster. I thought the forces were great (both positive and negative Gs) The first loop had some great positive G-Forces while the floater air was unexpected to. I only got to ride in the back once but it was still a great ride. Timber Wolf - Closed. Too bad. I heard this thing beats the crap out of you so I wasn't upset that I didn't get to ride it. Detonator - I always love these free fall types of rides. Great thrills Mamba - This was my first "true" Morgan Hyper Coaster. (I've ridden Steel Eel but that's not considered a Hyper coaster for those nerds out there. Good airtime in the beginning and that helix at the end is a wannabe SFMM Goliath helix of death. It stills ran pretty good though. Boomerang - Got my credit and got a headache...thanks... Prowler - I was very disappointed in this ride. I was hoping it was going to be a fun GCI ride but this thing beat the sh*t outta me. There was so much bumping up and down I couldn't re-rdie it. I was pretty bummed. Planet Snoopy - WOW! There were so many rides for the kiddos! This was a great area and I'll definitely have to head back to the park with my family and have the kids go to this area. Very well done. I also spent the extra $5 and did the Dinosaurs Alive walkthrough area but I will post that in a later update. Below are the pictures... Mandatory picture out of an airplane...I give you the Rockies! My breakfast stop in the morning...these places are great! I see Worlds of Fun in the distance! Mamba takes over the sky! Entrance off the road. Anything with a Dinosaur makes it that much better! There's so much land here...why don't they build a hotel or something... The Patriot as seen from the road. Great view from my parking spot At the entrance. This park is themed to "Around the World in 80 Days". Or...you can do the entire park in 80 minutes! Here's the Map. Different lands represent different "Worlds" Theming! The Grand Carrousel is a classic. When things have plaques out front, you know they are classics! First Ride of the day! Your typical spinning/puking type of ride. People screaming...and spinning...and then puking... The backside of the train car! I see its butt! Pandas are so cute...except when they spin you around The backside of Bamboozler! I see its butt! This is SteelHawk. I did not ride because I didn't want to get stuck and not make my trip down to Tulsa. Patriot! Make 'Merica Great Again by having more B&M coasters like this one! Through the trees! The World is upside down! Looks like everyone is having fun making 'Merica great again. I love this inversion... This was supposed to happen today...but as you'll see later, weather was not kind to this event... Walking around, the theming was great that it was to the Peanuts Brand CANDY!!! Haha...I get it...it's like Darth Vader but with Darts...HA I see you Patriot over the Joe Cool Arcade! I was not upset this was closed. I like my kidneys thank you very much. NEW FOR 2017!!!! Great ride for the family The sun decided to torch Detonator. Mamba! Be careful...you might hiss your pants on this ride. Wait...did we transport to Knott's in a different dimension where there is a Hyper Coaster behind Coasters? Great ride! This is their Rapids Ride... ...but the Fury looked a little weak today... Dammit...I hate these things... Hear it is...in Africa Loop in Africa NEW FOR 2017!!! Little brother in the foreground...Big Brother in the background. Great addition. I really like these rides. A lot of people were riding it today Falcon's Flight...through the trees! Is this show risqué? Oh sweet! I like these rides.....oh wait.... ...I don't think it's opening today... Damn you Prowler! I wanted you to be so good but you were not. I might have to go hunt and shoot you dead. The rain started coming down so that meant it was time to ride the train Oh look...a plaque...that means it's a Classic. A true Steam Engine! While on the train, it offered some great views of Prowler...even though I would never ride that coaster again... Doesn't it just look fun... ...but it was so damn rough! Turn back and don't ever ride Prowler again!!! Even Prowler's station was abandoned...no one wanted to ride it. Bonus points if you know the name of this ride! It was still raining so that meant it was time to eat lunch. When in Kansas City...you need to have Barbecue! It doesn't look like much...but between the bread was heaven in my mouth...and then the Mac and Cheese too....SO GOOD! It stopped raining for a little bit so time to check out Planet Snoopy Hey! I'm having cookies with Snoopy! Why does Snoopy always seem to be going over a Waterfall. That just doesn't seem safe. Curse you Red Baron! Credit! Snoopy's just waiting for someone to hug him. Ballons! My favorite Snoopy character...the World War I flying Ace! Time to run people over! Sally even has a ride that's not themed to her being a psychiatrist. Great theming on all these rides. There's even a Woodstock sighting! These are fun too...all around a fun place. Everyone was in the Playhouse since the weather was being very rude. Time to buy some merch! Snoopy's Toy Box...... There's a Scrambler here too... ...and a Dragon Swing The Park really is beautiful...but the clouds and lightning started to come... ...and then it got dark.... ...and then the downpour happened so that was my queue to head down to Tulsa for work. Mandatory picture of flying home...Check!
  15. The Pima County Fair comes to Tucson every year and every year we venture off to see what weird things they have. This year was different in that we did what our kiddos wanted to do. Jackson (age 5) and Griffin (age 2) have already been to Disneyland so when we told them we would be going to the fair they got extremely excited because it was "going to be like Disneyland". I told them not to get their hopes up but we ended up having a great time. Jackson was able to ride a couple rides and Griffin loved watching everything....and eating a chocolate covered banana. One thing that's great about the fair here in Pima County is that people sell off their cattle and chickens to bidders. We were able to catch some of the auction and a rooster went for $1,200! I'm in the wrong business! If you're looking for a ton of pictures of Fair rides...this is not your report. This is a report about what the younger generation does at the Fair because they are still too small to ride the major attractions. Enjoy the pictures and comment below! Here we are...in the lovely dirt filled parking lot, ready to enter the Fair. First stop...Kiddie Kingdom. This was an area inside where kids could play around on some random stuff. Griffin was King for about a second. Jackson got lost in the maze...but was able to find his way out. Now it's time to play Candyland! It wouldn't be complete unless you ride a snail! Next stop, Pima Hall where there is always an exhibit with a bunch of animals. This year it was themed around the Bayou. What a HOOT! This lady was taking a baby crocodile out of it's exhibit for a presentation. Giant Spider! Jackson loves snakes and watching them eat mice. Here in Arizona, we have a lot of snakes! Griffin found something! They had an "Operation" type table where you had to get things out without making the light go off. Jackson failed... Now it was time to venture into Kid Land! This is where the smaller rides were for the shorter kids. It was separate from the main, annoying teenager filled, larger rides. Jackson saw this and wanted to do it. He thought it was the Little Mermaid ride from California Adventure. He was not too thrilled about his experience. Next, it's time to see some farm animals. BEEF! It's what's for dinner! TURKEY! It's what's for Thanksgiving! BILLY GOAT! It's what for....who the hell eats a Billy Goat?!?! Dairy Cows full of milk! Jackson found HeiHei from Moana. He called every chicken and rooster in there HeiHei. Time to walk to more games and rides. They had a zipline going over the Midway this year. And the ever popular Bungee Jump. for only $45!!! Time to get some treats! Cassie enjoying her chocolate covered banana Jackson and his allergy friendly Dippin Dots Griffin chowing down on his chocolate covered banana. I think the kiddos liked their treats. Time for Bumper Cars. Jackson's favorite ride! We are ready to bash into people! Jackson liked it so much he wanted to stay and watch other people bump their cars. Time for games. Jackson at ring toss..... ....and he won a dog! We also won a fish and named it Maui (again...from Moana!). Log Flume Roller Coaster Part 1 Roller Coaster Part 2 Giant Wheel Crazy Mouse Giant Swing riding thingy Oh...and did I mention they have Sea Lions here? The star attraction every year for our boys is the giant Model Train Set. There's a lot of detail into this set. The kids watched this for about 30 minutes. And then it was time to play golf. Griffin did some gardening.... ...and picked fruit... ...and then he milked a cow! Thanks for reading! Until next time Pima County Fair.
  16. I know I'm too late for the poll too (even though I still put my vote in) but I would buy a DVD version. My kids love watching Roller Coaster POVs and videos in the background while they play around the house. It's a lot easier to put a DVD on for them then having YouTube on because they know how to use the controller to change to videos they shouldn't be watching on YouTube. That being said, I still have every Roller Coaster in the RAW DVD and some of the old school TPR Coaster Expedition videos I still put on the TV for them to watch every now and then. Oh, and don't forget the short run of JimmyBo and Friends DVDs! Jimmy "I'll watch TPR videos wherever they are shown...unless its up someone's butt" Bo
  17. Awesome report as always! I loved in the video you asked if it was Bacon or a flag at the end of the Electrical Parade...that's hilarious! I'm really excited that it's back for a limited time. I remember seeing this as a kid and thought it was the coolest thing ever. I'm pretty sure it was my first parade I had ever seen. It's really neat seeing what Disney has to offer for Lunar New Year. I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever really known that they did something for it but it's great to see that they are offering new things during this time. Jimmy "Bacon is American!" Bo
  18. This looks like an amazing event and I'm pretty sure if we vacationed there during this festival, we would have to ship a ton of the artwork back home. Some of the displays and art are just AMAZING! I also love the idea for the kids to get involved with Figment. He really is one of the best characters ever created! Jimmy "My house would be covered with this art" Bo
  19. I can't wait for more updates and to get Robb and Elissa's honest opinion about the park. I know a lot of other fanboys opinion of the park and rides but I can't wait to see other peoples views. The hotel looks amazing and I love the Bar theme!!!! Can you sign up for stomping around on grapes to make wine? That would be awesome. Jimmy "Are you going to learn to write Chinese while there?" Bo
  20. I would love to see a Zelda ride or anything involving the Zelda franchise for that matter. But let's be honest...I think everyone knows there's going to be a "MadWorld" or "No More Heroes" shooting/slashing/chainsaw destroying dark ride. I mean, that makes perfect sense for Nintendo, right? Am I the only one who enjoyed those games on the Wii? Jimmy "Or A Boy and his Blob interactive puzzle solving ride would be awesome" Bo
  21. Awesome Report. I'll skip all the food and drink my butt off around the World. Some of those selections on drinks looked intriguing. Have you guys ever "Drank Around the World" and tried every drink? Jimmy "Best part of the year at Epcot!" Bo
  22. This is awesome! I love seeing parks like this. I know my son would love the Train Motel at the park...I think that's a pretty neat idea. In my opinion, I think animals integrated with parks is a great idea. You can get your fill for animals and then your fill for thrill all in one day! It doesn't have to be a complete zoo but I think, especially for families, taking time to relax and go check animals out is a way to get some down time for a busy day of running around with little ones. Jimmy "Swedish Meatballs?????" Bo
  23. Finally catching up on all these reports and it's great to see that you guys are having a blast at these parks. Bummed that Heide Park has gone downhill but Potts Park looks absolutely amazing. I remember Klotten and how awesome that place was and Potts looks even better! Toverland looks like it's expanded a ton outside. Is it open year round and do they close some of the attractions outside if it's too cold? The videos you have posted so far are great and this report really brings back the feel of the "old" TPR before the tours, which is a good thing! I showed my 4 year old a video of the Fireworks at Disney Paris and he wants to go there now. I told him to get a job. So far, what has been the most surprising thing of the trip? Jimmy "Waiting for the kiddos to get older to do some overseas trips" Bo
  24. Awesome Report! You nailed the craziness of Lagoon and Salt Lake City to a T. I went there awhile back but I definitely remember the "nice park... ghetto park... nice theming... slap a ride where there used to be a parking lot" atmosphere for Lagoon. I'm really bummed I missed out on Leatherby's. That might be a reason to head back to SLC.....might. Jimmy "I still remember blasting my Godsmack CD in my rental car around downtown" Bo
  25. We were at the park when they were filming some of the musical guests. They performed after the park closed but they had the stages set up on certain days. I'm sure we are somewhere in the show for some of the day footage because they had a ton of helicopters flying over the park the whole week we were there and I bet that some of that footage will be in the show. Jimmy "Now I have to find my Mickey ears in the footage" Bo
