  1. Cool, so if you're not a show person, that means more room for the people who are! That is fair enough, and respectable. And yea, this show has what you've listed, but I think the "impressive factor" in this whole deal is the size of it all. 1,200 fountains on a pad bigger than a football field, all in perfect unison to multiple Disney films, and stories. It may be just the "same old fountains" but there's some new technology mixed in there. Flame whips, butterfly fountains, the newest laser technology, and not to mention the big-@$$ HD projectors.
  2. As of right now, it looks like the whole back part of the pier is going to close. But that's the last I've heard. Regarding the ride in the lagoon: If it was bigger, I would have wanted a ride too. Hopefully they take out Mulholland Madness/Goofy's Sky School eventually, and put a ride in that splashes down into the west side of the lagoon. Oh, and here's two more pics from testing a few nights ago.. EDIT by larrygator: I've fixed it here, but please remember to resize all photos to (800x600 maximum) in the future
  3. Agreed. Every picture that everyone is going ga-ga over, I feel like "I've seen this before...like a LONG time before..." Maybe it's just that something like this is new to other people but having traveled around the world and seen a crap load of shows in my time this just is like, I dunno, not impressive to me. At least nothing I've seen so far. It feels more like something from Vegas cira 1998 than it does anything revolutionary. --Robb So....flame whips, butterfly fountains aren't that revolutionary....
  4. That actually sounds pretty good! At least it's better than Toy Story: The Musical. I'd rather see a comedic villans show, than a half-assed musical thrown together.
  5. Ok, I've added to the list of what *should* or *could* be changed. Tan Circle - The Hideout Area. This will be similar to Tom Sawyer's Island, with walkways, waterfalls, and Pan's Hideout, all tucked throughout the rollercoaster section of the Lost Boy's Ride. Pink Area - What is now the rumored Tinkerbell dark ride. Move the potential ride from the Motorboat area, to Neverland, and use the motorboat area now, for an addition to Autopia, or another Dark ride later on. Blue Circle - Pixie Hollow. Move the Pixie Hollow by TL to here, change Pixie Hollow to a nice wooded area with benches and interactive fountains already there. DL is lacking these areas. Lime Green Area - Move Peter Pan's Flight to where Roger Rabbit's Cartoon spin is, and add a Sleeping Beauty Dark ride where Peter Pan currently is. Yellow Area - Sit down restaurant themed to the Indian Camp scene in the movie Peter pan. Dark Green area- toontown train station - retheme to classic london train station. Not noted - the location where Donald Ducks boat is now, retheme to Jolly Roger, interactive areas, and a Peter Pan/Smee/Hook/Wendy meet and greetOk, I've added to the list of what *should* or *could* be changed. Light Blue oval - Fantasyland Theater - Remove, add a Beauty and the Beast dark ride, and quick service station, with sit down seating. Dark Ride will be housed in the Beast's castle, and ride will be underground. Not noted - the location where Donald Ducks boat is now, retheme to Jolly Roger, interactive areas, and a Peter Pan/Smee/Hook/Wendy meet and greet. Tomorrowland - We all know that this land is in need of a severe makeover. I don't want attractions like Monster's inc Laugh Floor, and Stitch's great escape. I'd like to see the combined idea of exploration (Discoveryland in DLP) and then the "retro, but futuristic" look of WDW's TL. We'll start at the front of the land. Red Oval -Add a giant archway, with rotating orbs, and satellites, with neon lit at night, remove the Astro Orbitor. Teal Box- Star Tours - already announced refurb coming in 2010-2011, have random scene selection (25 beginnings, 25 middles, 25 ends) so it's relatively different each time you ride it. Dark Blue circle - Use the old PeopleMover queue for the Astro Orbitor, (see peach circle directly below) Peach Circle - Astro Orbitor returning to the top of the tower, add wrap around queue using the old PM queue. Yellow Box - Redesign the starcade, bring in the State of the Art video games, bring back the second level, but use the 2nd for a ride simulation (kind of like the Build your own rollercoaster @ DisneyQuest in WDW). Sky Blue box - Magic eye theater is removed - addition of an extraTERRORestrial-like show is added. Space Mountain's beginning queue gets a slight refurb to ease the confusion of guests walking in front of the line for FP's and just sitting there because of the a/c and shade. Pink Box - Redd Rocket's Pizza Port gets an updated look from the tacky 90's refurb. Red Circle, Green oval, and orange box - Innoventions - gosh...where to begin...Ok, building may or may not continue to rotate, while the addition of a Mission Space attraction dominates the first floor of the building (which is the green circle. second, the top level, and current exit of the building will house the new PeopleMover station, and queue. Being indoors for most of the queue, will allow guests to stand in line in the A/C during those hot Anaheim days, while waiting for an beloved attraction. The cars will resemble a similar paint job to the new monorails, but in a broader range. Blue box - Tomorrowland Terrace - total retheme of it all, broader menu, maybe even be an outdoor sit down restaurant. But still utilize the stage. Green Box - autopia - Massive retheme of the queue, additional new cars being electric, and removal of the Chevron sponsor, addition of a electric sponsor..pg&e, socal edison...etc. Fantasyland - Red Oval - Motorboat cruise area - addition of a dark ride, not sure what film, or original attraction yet. Frontierland - Green boxes - addition to Big Thunder Mountain - dig a tunnel underneath the walkway, or add an overpass over the walkway, and add a "newly discovered mine" where the old Festival of Fools arena is. Yellow circle - Dark ride to "home on the range"........KIDDING! Actually a add the Hall of Presidents, and a nice sit down park here. This will bring more guests to the back side of the park, and add a great attraction here. Critter Country - PERMANENT REMOVAL of Winnie The Pooh, return of Country Bear Jamboree. 'nuff said. This is it for my DISNEYLAND ideas, stay tuned for DCA's ideas, despite the billion dollar refurb we're already getting.
  6. Wow....it took people awhile to respond! lol anyhow, I do agree that the Neverland theme is "down" due to Michael. And I will post pictures of what it could look like. And I also agree, Roger Rabbit is one of my preferred attractions as well, and I'm actually going to post a new thread with a COMPLETE list of everything I want to change at the resort, and will also include what will change as well with DL, and DCA. Getting back to it, Roger Rabbit could move to the Hollywood Studios portion of Hollywood Pictures Backlot, and get some major updates with the move. There's some ideas that have been tossed around on Micechat, and I am going to talk to the poster and see if I can use some of his ideas in my list.
  7. Thanks adam for the update! Space Mountain looks better than ever now! Can't wait to ride it when I make it back to Florida next year for Christmas break!
  8. ToonTown is slowly fading out of the scene. Most of the land is faded, and just not what it was back in the 90's. So, with all this hype of Tinkerbell, why not change Toontown, to Neverland? Note, I said NEVERLAND, not Pixie Hollow. There's too much controversy of Disney making boys land, and girls land, so, I'm doing something no one's thought of, COMBINING the two! Utilizing the buildings currently there, Neverland will contain the following, as noted by color. Red Area - Lost Boys Dark Ride/coaster. This will be an indoor/outdoor ride, going through all the expeditions of the lost boys. Not noted - the location where Donald Ducks boat is now, retheme to Jolly Roger, interactive areas, and a Peter Pan/Smee/Hook/Wendy meet and greet. That's all for now, I'll post more when I get home tonight, since I'm in study hall doing this ....
  9. My wish list is pretty hefty... - Take out HISTA, bring in an E-ticket show, something like ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. - Bring back the people mover, add screens like the did with Horizons @ Epcot. -Take out Innoventions, bring in a show in the bottom half, and the Peoplemover queue, and entrance on the second, this way, you don't have miles of rope and chains cutting off the guests in the already crowded bottlenecked entrance to TL. - Update Autopia with the "Green Cars" they have in HKDL, with a futuristic look, unlike the "roadster", "coupe" and "sports car" they have now. With each color of the car, have corresponding LED lights underneath, Add several more futuristic sight gags alongside the track, enhanced queue with ALOT more futuristic advertisements, maybe an hour loop of it, instead of the 15 minutes it is now.. drop the Chevron sponsor, add a electricity sponsor, or something. - Take out Redd Rocket's Pizza Port, Bring in a full service sit down restaurant, and if this makes sense, have it be upscale space themed... - Redesign Tomorrowland Terrace, to a very urban space dance club. that's all I got for now...I'll think of some other stuff when I get a chance.
  10. I would like to see an UP ride too, however, I must disagree with you on how "poor" Cars was. It's one of my favorite pixar movies, not necessarily for the story, but for the animation. The amazing detail to the light reflections on the cars, the water, the dust, etc. All of it, created, and it looks real, but a cartoon at the same time. They DO need to come up with a better name than CARSLAND, Radiator Springs is a step up, but still unimaginative. The problem with Disney is that they're relying too much on their movie/merch sales, to come up with park attractions and lands. Look at Journey to the Center of the Earth, Expedition Everest, and even the, dare I say it, Tower of Terror (given the fact it was based off of the Twilight Zone. All of them created attractions, with a new storyline. All of them bring in masses of lines, and dozens of fans. Disney needs to go back to making ORIGINAL rides and shows. Hell, even bring back the Country Bear Jamboree! DCA needs some more original rides, that don't have a character tie-in. Add on to Grizzly River Run, update Soarin', and add enhancements to California Screamin' just to start.
  11. Anytime! ^^ And that's exactly it right there. Chernabog. Overall this show is going to kick ass. I can't wait to see this. Maybe we can get a TPR meet for opening night.
  12. Well, I think eventually they'll bring in POTC...there's room behind Mystic to put a warehouse. I was wondering that myself....also, What about Splash Mountain? Think they'll add it to Grizzly?
  13. I'm looking foreward to the new enhancements. Although Toy Story Land seems like a new Bug Land.. Meh.... New HM? This coaster sounds like a new Expedition Everest by the way of the description. Overview of the new lands...
  14. Hong Kong Disneyland new lands announced officially with Artwork click photos to enlarge This is it, the Hong Kong Disneyland expansion plan has been unveiled, with three "lands." Plans were announced today and you will find great artwork for each of the lands below! Basically, the three new lands are located on the Adventureland side of the park, Just to the west of the Jungle Cruise as you can see on the expansion map above. Contrary to speculation, there will be no giant Pirates of Caribbean land, no snow-covered mountain, but there will be a small Frontierland type of area with a mine ride, a Haunted Mansion with a different theme, and a Toy Story Playland exactly like the one we will have at Paris' Walt Disney Studios next year. Also, you will notice that they still have a big space available for a future expansion on the left of the new Frontierland/Grizzly Trail. Here are all the details with the official press release and picture in full size in the Disney and more article here: Disney and more: Hong Kong Disneyland new lands announced officially with Artwork Quote: With the addition of more than 30 new attractions, play and entertainment experiences, Hong Kong Disneyland’s total number of rides and attractions will increase by almost 50 percent and top one hundred. When completed, the expansion will increase HKDL’s physical footprint by approximately 23 percent; broaden the park’s appeal by adding more experiences for young adults; and place increased focus on universally-understood stories. Using Guest feedback as a guide, these three new themed areas will create memorable guest experiences, drive strong word of mouth and repeat visitation, and offer many unique only-available-in-Hong-Kong attractions that feature Disney’s immersive storytelling and innovative technology. Grizzly Trail Grizzly Gulch, Frontier Gold-Mining Town The path along Grizzly Trail offers high-spirited frontier fun in an abandoned mining town called Grizzly Gulch, set amidst mountains and woods. Acording to legend, the town was founded August 8, 1888 – the luckiest day of the luckiest month of the luckiest year – by prospectors looking to discover gold. Bears have now started causing havoc at the Big Grizzly Mountain Mining Company. Key Technology and Creative Elements • Guests visiting Grizzly Gulch are part of the action, experiencing hands-on water features, massive geysers and various leaking structures in the abandoned town. • Life-size Audio-Animatronic® bears set the story in motion on Big Grizzly Mountain Coaster, an adventure aboard a runaway mine train through town. Guests careen backward down an incline that propels them through twists and turns, before a launch sequence “blasts” the mine train out of the mountain. • A Wild West stagecoach, an old time Jail House, and the world’s largest nugget of gold provide fun photo opportunities. • Guests can relax with a Wild West refreshment at the old Saloon or shop for mining supplies and souvenirs at the Bear Necessities merchandise stand. Mystic Point Mystic Point is the site of mysterious forces and supernatural events in the heart of a dense, uncharted rain forest. In Mystic Manor, home to an eccentric world traveler and adventurer and his collection of exotic international artifacts, strange things are afoot as an enchanted music box releases its magical powers, thanks to a mischievous monkey. Key Technology and Creative Elements • Inside Mystic Manor, a trackless ride system enables vehicles to move “freely” about the attraction as the story unfolds. Audio-Animatronic® figures and special visual and audio effects help tell the story of mystical phenomena. • Within Mystic Point lies a beautiful garden full of relics and mythological figures, where guests discover a hidden world of illusions and mysteries that trick the eye. • Guests can dine at the Adventurer’s Club amid a vast collection of unusual artifacts from around the world or purchase exclusive curiosities and collectibles at the Archive Shop. Toy Story© Land Disney·Pixar-themed Play Area for Kids of All Ages Andy, the young boy from the Disney·Pixar Toy Story films, has left his toys unattended in this immersive and highly themed environment, based on one of Disney·Pixar’s most popular film series. While Andy is away, the toys come to life and play...and Guests are invited to join! Key Technology and Creative Elements • Oversized outdoor rides and photo opportunities allow Guests to experience the different perceptions of scale, and shrink to the size of a toy. • One attraction includes a shuttle coaster which propels Guests along a U-shaped style track. • A drop-style parachute attraction lets Guests join a “training mission,” plunging from a 25m tall tower. • Guests will enjoy fun, immersive and interactive environments with life-size toys. • A themed food kiosk provides a barrel of fun snacks and refreshments and Guests can shop for Toy Story inspired collectibles at the merchandise location. Now, to all Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios fans : Have a look again to the Toy Story Playland rendering above as the Toy Story Playland at the WDS will look exactly - or almost - identical when it will open in July 2010! As for HKDL this expansion is not only welcome and necessary but also will bring new attractions unique to the park - Big Grizzly Mountain Coaster, with audio-animatronic Bears and a track that seems to be inspired by the one of Expedition Everest - or also new versions of grand classic ride - Mystic Manor - a Haunted Mansion mixed with the world traveler and adventurer theme of TDS Tower of Terror. It will be very interesting to discover all this when it will open in 2011-12! All pictures: copyright Disney - Hong Kong Disneyland
  15. Gosh.....did you really just say the WOC is debuting in JULY?! Where did you hear that from? Haha if you didn't notice....the signs on the wall says SPRING 2010! If the WOC debuted in July, then they already would had to have toe water filled in, and tests of the show being placed after park hours....none of which is going to happen, until the bay is refilled later this coming winter. Then, they will start testing the show...so, if you really wanna see a sneak peak, I suggest booking a hotel room at the Paradise Pier hotel..... As for other park construction info, Dinosaur Jack's is being totally demolished, and moving onto Yesterland. The Little Mermaid attraction just started construction, that will be opening in roughly 2011. The Orange Stinger is going down for its refurb and redesign this July, returning next spring as the Silly Symphony Swings. Any other questions on the refurb???
