  1. ^ It's been pretty busy lately on the weekends. I haven't been on a weekend in a long time but you can tell by the cams the past few weekends its been kinda swamped...even on sundays!
  2. I swear they had a feature which showed all "parks nearby" on a map with numbers next to them where you can place a check to show the location on the map. I remember doing something like that for the southern california parks...
  3. Wait...you guys consider FOF a dark ride?
  4. I remember looking at a group of parks on a map per their location. Not sure if it was on RCDB or not but it was really helpful planning trips. Is there some tool out here that can do that? Can you do that on google maps?
  5. Looks like a lot of first timers coming to the park on friday! Im gonna be there for the hell of it...always up to meet new nerds!
  6. LOL it's funny how this thread turned into a "I hope it's the **insert pipe dream coaster** that **your home park** is getting"...when said park will probably never see the type of coaster lol.
  7. Someone over there found it here... http://www.kicentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30844-red-track-spotted-at-batavia-steel-plant/
  8. Whoa! Valleyfair is still open??? Every park cant be a magic mountain, cedar point, canadas wonderland, great adventure or carowinds.
  9. I have read that...I have also talked to folks at park level, they are not interested in the conversion because vortex, at carowinds, is still pretty popular and garners a line and its such a small coaster it wouldn't see much profit or marketable value. Basically, the conversion could probably cost more than the coaster is worth right now.
  10. I don't think...I know... The chain really does care more about sentimental value than a lot of us think...you see ghost rider is still standing right? Didn't Knotts just have two of their oldest rides refurbished?
  11. Vortex at carowinds wont be touched. It's considered a milestone coaster and a classic being one of the first B&M coasters...
  12. ^ its like a thick soup with lots of veggies and meats. Really good! Now back to more pictures... Alright, let's head outside... It was a neat experience getting hands on with the coaster... Can't wait to see what the bridge will look like! Lol... I have a feeling this element will be a crowd pleaser! Since I was one of the only seasoned riders out there, the travel channel decided to give me a shot! Basically they need a ratings boost... This year, the park is getting a flatter and wider bridge... Let's take a closer look... The new giftshop. Let's move on the the sling shot spot... But first...take a gander... The future slingshot site...from a distance... Things are moving along at a great pace! What could I be looking at??? Duh! Getting closer... Yeah...I think I'll pass on this ride... Anyone in the mood for some coke? And there it is... The plaza area is gonna be pretty nice...I just have a feeling! Poor intimidator feels neglected... I just can't wait... What are these guys looking at??? Ah yes, a man and his drone... Was a great day at the park...tune in for the next adventure...
  13. It never hurts to ask. I asked for a front seat and I got it...I asked for a back seat and I got it...maybe its just me though...
  14. Ok so its 2015...January 2015 and most parks are closed but that doesn't stop us from visiting. This year, for obvious reasons, carowinds hosted ACE southeast winter warm up. Its an event where lots of parks come together and put on presentations for what they are showcasing that year as well as nostalgia highlights. Its a great way to get personal with the parks and their reps. I figured this shirt would be most appropriate for the day... We entered near thunder road... Such a classic, would hate to see it go. Thank god there has never been any rumors of its departure. Ahhhh...top gun. It felt god driving around the lot, looking at these giants in hibernation. But I'm here to get up close and personal with this one... Pretty much all the rides are dismantled in the offseason... Parks like holiday world, fiesta texas, dollywood, kings dominion and six flags over georgia had presentations. Lots gave free stuff but dollywood and fiesta texas gave everyone free admission! Carowinds GM mike fennel had a special presentation... it was the train, which was already on site! Now it was time for lunch! The food featured that day will be featured st the taste of the Carolinas food event. The food was great! I'll just let the pictures do the talking.
  15. If we actually looked at the number of parks with metal detectors compared to those without you would learn very, very few have them. We go to malls with no metal detectors, we go to festivals with none, we go to restaurants without them and so on. All these places are public so where is the outrage about public safety in those places? Why do we have such outrage when we go to a theme park without them? Do we feel less safe in a theme park that cost to get in compared to a mall that doesn't require anything to get in?
  16. Would you rather the coaster to be sitting on a parking lot ... It feels better than it comes across on pictures...
  17. Today, I heard waits were like 30 minutes to an hour. I would def hit up nighthawk first, that line only gets worst...
  18. I dont think a mecca has to be "one" especially when looking at the definition lol. We have 7 wonders of the world right? So why cant it be more than one mecca ?
  19. Well, That was evident with Fury 325 being, well, 325 feet! Now, cedar point will always be the park in the chain...its now under the leadership of folks who see potential outside of cedar point and willing to expand and develop and put record breaking rides elsewhere. Knowing Mike, this isn't just PR garble. I mean, they are only trailing SFMM, CP and CW so technically they can already be considered a Coaster mecca.
  20. I'm not trying to start a back and forth but how can you say there is no airtime in the first line but then go on to say riding in the back produces more airtime? Your opinion is just that and I wouldnt try to sway it but that's kinda a contradiction in itself.
  21. You did! And that's what I was describing. Its not the typical floaty air...it was more extreme(by B&M standards)! Notice how it kinda throws them into the first turns and not so much in the helix...I personally think its a great coaster that deserves the national and international attention it is getting.
