  1. I am as much a water park fanatic as I am coaster. I can spend the majority of the day in a water park when it is included with the regular park. Im really excited and cant wait for volcano bay to open!
  2. That is near Carolina Cobra. You can see the marquee sign and the supports to the left and right of the blue trashcan on the right hand side of the photo. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Most likely the Troika is going in the old put put area. I could be wrong tho. I don't think anything is going right there. I think that is earmarked for water park expansions. I have a "gut" feeling that package A is going in the open area where cobra (there have been hints about doing things around a snake) and the other package . . . It was said that another conversion was coming in 2017?
  3. What determines a "region"? Because I think its at least 1 original and 2 "hurler" clones in one region in this case . . .
  4. But its not though . . . That is near Carolina Cobra. You can see the marquee sign and the supports to the left and right of the blue trashcan on the right hand side of the photo. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk You'll get it. . . very soon.
  5. Not me. I think that's the best option.
  6. That article didn't mention the slide . . . is it more than what the article is mentioning some where else?
  7. An original house "Tomb of the Ancients" was kinda announced via park mailer. I hear, unofficially, it is an egyptian themed house.
  8. Between that and a GCI/in house complete refurb of hurler, i'd pick the latter. I guess it's because I rode hurler when it first open and know what an airtime machine it once was before the roughness and trimming. That and coupled with riding thunder run at Kentucky Kingdom which reminds me what a complete refurb can do for the coaster is my sentiment as to why I say give the current hurler a track rennovation vs a conversion.
  9. Then what would you like to discuss? Actually, they do follow the ground level layout, the path, quite close as that is the reason they generally only have to add support structure to support the new elements. I haven't seen one where they added sections to the layout that deviated from what the coaster was originally. Also, historically, RMC converted coasters have resulted in shorter layouts with Steel medusa and joker being the only two that had the least impact in the length only loosing about 100ft or so of the original layout. Look, im all for RMC working their magic at KD. I just personally think it would be better executed on a new coaster and hurler stay the same with a complete restoration a la ghostrider.
  10. I never said hurlers layout was pointless. I said it has an uninspiring layout (when considering it for a conversion in my opinion) and that's OK because lots of good coasters have basic layouts. I said, I feel a RMC conversion would be, in my opinion, pointless. And we seem to agree. If history proves itself, RMC generally adds height to the lift, lowers the elements and shortens the coaster with conversions. That seems that it would be a challenge and it would probably be best to build from ground up.
  11. Im gonna quote myself . . . Yes, El Toro is what you described, however, it has height variation as do the GCI coasters like roar. I'm not saying they couldn't iron horse hurler. I'm saying, in my opinion, it would be pointless to do that when a better layout could come from a brand new coaster. It's only so high then can extend the lift and I feel to make it feel different. A major overhaul of the layout would probably need to be done, in my opinion. The GCI retracking Carowinds did created a very smooth front seat experience for hurler. Unfortunately the trim at the bottom of the first drop killed the entire ride to the point of little to no airtime on any hill.
  12. Has to remember he is just 16 . . .
  13. Have you ever heard of a red herring?
  14. Take a look at the old NE Cyclone's layout. Then take a look at Wicked Cyclone. No it wouldn't be pointless. You mean this layout? That has height variation and does more than make right turns? In my opinion, RMC would meet their biggest challenge with hurler as most of their conversions had a layout with character and depth to begin with. We will see . . .
  15. Is it me but would an RMC hurler be kinda pointless? All hurler does is turn right with some hills in between. There is no directional change, the entire coaster barely goes back over 30ft after the first drop, and it has one of the most uninspired layouts. If you look, most rmc iron horse coasters have a somewhat twisted layout to begin with. I just don't see an RMC hurler . . .
  16. Call the park. That will give you a quicker answer that you know is correct. Or listen to folks who have been doing this for years . . .
  17. Remember, like Knotts SCarowinds is a separated ticketed event thus requiring its own fast lane.
  18. That's not what the article said. It said . . . Which is a pretty vauge statement regarding the future of the coaster and the area.
  19. The water park is a seperate gate. I would think it would have its own capital.
  20. Actually the park did go on the news and announced that they will be getting the new vintage flats earlier this year (feb 16th), aside from the news article. They didn't go into specifics though . . . Check it out HERE . . .
