  1. I like this one a lot. SF definitely needs to downsize. However I think they should keep 8 properties - the 7 you listed plus SFFT. As far as I know (I'll admit I'm not an expert) SFFT is very profitable and widely considered one of the better, more unique, parks in the chain. SFDK also should stay in the Six Flags family.
  2. The park had a pretty decent crowd when I was there in Late August. It wasn't packed, but California had already started school. They bought the land underneath the park from the city for over $50 million this past year. They also rebranded and spent millions in rethemeing this year. They are spending $7 million on a new coaster this year. I don't know, this may be a park to watch out for in the near future. I think that this park is now one of the gems of Six Flags. EDIT: I almost forgot, they added a Holiday in the Park event in 2007, one of the rare moments when operating hours are longer and not shorter in the Six Flags family.
  3. Avatar's train has been unwrapped. Testing soon?
  4. They are attaching "Clouds/Fan" like things to both of Avatars supports. The clouds are by Ripsaws brake run currently.
  5. AWESOME!!! Forget the Deja Vu clones, I want all 4 Flight Deck credits! Last I checked, Carowinds changed their Top Gun/Flight Deck into Afterburn. So I guess that there are only 3 Flight Decks left.
  6. The log ride will stay the same, for now. They might retheme it after the summer. But on another note, Spongebob now has all four cars on the track/transfer. I have a feeling that they will only be able to run three cars at a time since there are only three blocks before the lift.
  7. It's coming down. The loop is already half way removed. http://www.pbase.com/rob_drebel/dejavuremove
  8. Canada's Wonderland is the newest park to play the Cedar Fair name game. Drop Zone-Drop Tower Top Gun-Flight Deck Tomb Raider-Time Warp Italian Job is still Italian Job, but i'm guessing that will change shortly. http://www.canadaswonderland.com/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=23
  9. Screamscape has posted four new Spongebob photos showing off the water dummies and their faces! http://www.screamscape.com
  10. Thanks for the photos. The ride is going up quickly.
  11. Here is the direct link to the webcam shots: http://valleyfairzone.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=233&start=450
  12. It looks like they did a mid-course brake stop. Stopped on the midcourse brake area
  13. Thanks for the photos Jerry. There is only 27 or so days left before opening. I can't wait.
  14. Yay, at least we know it doesn't rollback anywhere during the course. It also looks like the train has some great speed during the helix.
  15. TT was the first spinner with the TH/Pandemonium/Spinning Dragons layout. the only big difference with Timberland or Pandemonium is that the Tony Hawks are mirrored layouts.
  16. Avatar's cars are back on the train. Plus, take a look at one of the "fans" on Avatar's right spike support.
  17. Here are some photos to show the ceiling and clearance form our friend Looty.
  18. If Tony Hawk runs like Timberland Twister, you will be in for a thrilling fun ride. If you want the best spinning, make sure that your car has uneven weight distribution. I agree with all of you that this ride looks great with Superman in the background.
  19. The trains will have enough clearance over the lift due to the glass panels being about 7 feet higher than the top of the lift. Yes, the trains have been repainted by Nickelodeon's request. That's why they disappeared for a while.
  20. I still want to know how Spongebob's transfer is going to work. I can't figure out where the two tracks will meet.
  21. "Cedar Fair" did not exsit at the time, but Cedar Point's owner bought Valleyfair! in 1978, a year before that brochure. They added Rails, CP's old Wildcat coaster the year they bought the park. So yes, it was a "Cedar Fair" park at the time. An interesting fact about VF was that Dick Kinzel was the general manager there for 8 years in the 80's before he became CEO of the entire company. He was responsible for Corkscrew and partially responsible for Excalibur.
  22. Spongebob's Que line is starting to form.(Look behind the loop byt before the helix).
  23. There is que lining pipes inbetween Ripsaw and Avatar. I am guessing that the blue Chinese hut will be the entrance and the line will go all the way towards the end of Avatar and back, then around again finally getting to the station. Who knows where Splat-O-Spheres que will be.
