  1. I'm with Zach on the belief that this is from their lack of trust of people to not pull out their phone during the ride to take video for social media. Secured cargo pockets aren't going to fail. I'm guessing that's also why the pouches are in a spot that's virtually impossible to reach during the ride, rather than on the seat in front of you.
  2. Yeah, it's almost impossible to reach the pouch during the ride with the restraint down. They were there in August, but not being used yet.
  3. That's very odd to me as well, and it sort of takes away from the "mystique" of the theme. I can see if they didn't want to add Hagrid's motorcycle or the flying car just yet so they don't give away too much about the experience, but they could of easily just posted an ominous trackless picture of the forest or something and conveyed the same message.
  4. As others have said, I've always thought Hershey's entrance plaza was really cramped. Glad to see they're addressing this. I haven't been to the park since 2014 or so, but I'll be excited to return in 2020.
  5. Yikes. Usually OSHA doesn't just go throwing around willfuls unless it's very serious.
  6. This definitely came up in the beginning of the year also, but finding workers is not easy right now for many employers. It's not just a Cedar Point issue, it's happening everywhere in our society right now.
  7. Slowly, but surely I'm adding more RMCs to my list. Here's how I would rank them: 1) Twisted Timbers - The traditional airtime hills are what put this one at the top of my list. That outward-banked turn through the structure is absolutely bonkers, and took a good 3-4 rides for me to properly prepare. This one just does so much with so little space. 2) Steel Vengeance - Speaks for itself, we all know what this is about. Not my number one because of being a bit more drawn out. I'm a bigger fan of coasters that do more with less. 3) Joker - My first RMC. It's a fun, great coaster, but not as bonkers as the others. 4) Goliath - Still an awesome coaster, but too short. My favorite thing about this one is the inverted stall.
  8. Awesome video! I really need to experience that version some day.
  9. Sometimes things are *designed* a certain way but things don't always go according to plan because there are peaks and valleys in the design process. Mostly the latter... No, I got that. I was just confused because it sounded (to me, at least) like some people were saying that it was never designed to be a true block, and that made no sense to me. I think what most are saying is that it is not presently functioning as a block -- but it could later on (unless they blew the design, and I somehow doubt that RMC couldn't figure out the momentum needed to return to the station from the block.) TTD was originally designed to run 6 trains, but it was statistically proven in practice to be more efficient with 5. Things happen, and sometimes not everything goes according to plan. What looks good on paper may not necessarily work in reality.
  10. For me at 6'1" it's more the shins, not the thighs. If I don't leave some space between my shins and the guard, it'll wreak havoc on them the whole ride. It doesn't matter which RMC, and even applies to the Premier launched coasters with shin guards, Sky Rocket, FoF, Mr. Freeze, etc.. I've learned the hard way, and subsequently felt like I had shin splints for a week. I definitely could not ride a bunch of times if I couldn't adjust my legs out of the way of the guard a bit. I'm not complaining, because it's very minimal and easily corrected, just sharing my observation.
  11. I agree. The way the pouches are set up on TT behind your legs makes them difficult, if not virtually impossible, to access whenever the lap bar is pulled down because of the shin guard blocking most of it. I think that setup could work if they do "beta tests" of sorts and get an efficient system going.
  12. This is an awesome TR, and I really enjoy following!
  13. I'm in the boat that's in favor of the floorless upgrades. Mantis was always a one-and-done for me, that's if I even ended up forcing myself on the ride at all. I can re-ride Rougarou over and over all day. I also found Patriot to be very fun, and it reminded me a lot of SFNE's Batman, which I think is underrated. This will make the ride a lot more enjoyable than it was, in my opinion.
  14. Yikes. Do they pat you down or what? Or do they just ask you and hope you don't lie? (Sorry I'm asking so many stupid questions... I have yet to go to a park with such a draconian policy) In addition to about 3 or 4 large signs, the person at the front is watching pretty closely and asking everyone if they have a phone. You're allowed keys, wallet, etc. in secured pockets, just not a phone. If you wear glasses without a strap, they'll even tell you to put them in your pocket. The ride operators MUST pull down your lapbar, and they don't allow any riders to do it themselves. If anyone does, they unlock that row and reset until the ride op pulls it down. I'm guessing that's also a way of looking for any sort of phone shaped object in people's pockets that may have slipped through. Ops pushing down the lap bar is a fairly new policy as well, I was there in July and I don't recall them doing that and I was there this past Sunday and they are very strictly enforcing the lap bar policy. I spent Memorial Day and the Tuesday after at KD, and they were enforcing the op pushing the lapbar down rule the whole time I was there. They were heavily enforcing that on Steel Vengeance also when I was at CP way back on Mother's Day, which was only a week after opening. From what I recall, that wasn't being enforced on either Joker or Goliath when I rode them last year.

  16. My local theater is a Cinemark with the luxury loungers, and it is phenomenal. They feel like you're in your living room. I honestly stopped going to the movies for a few years because of how expensive it was getting to uncomfortably watch a movie in sub-par seats, but these brought me back!
  17. I usually use a park's B&M hyper as my "after lunch, I know it won't throw me around" ride. Give me one or two rides on an Apollo's Chariot, Diamondback, Raging Bull, Behemoth, etc. in a day and I'm good, I have no desire to ride them again throughout the day. Skyrush, I305, MF on the other hand, I can't get enough of and could marathon over and over.
  18. Finally got on Twisted Timbers. It's still having frequent hiccups and ran one train over the past 3 days, but I still had about 10 rides total on Wednesday and yesterday. I can honestly say I like it better than Steel Vengeance. It just does so much in so little space, and it took a good 3-4 rides before I could properly prepare for that gnarly outward-banked turn. Some of those pouches were in place behind your legs on the green train also, but not being used yet. It's virtually impossible to reach the pouch with the restraint down and the shin guard in the way, so I think they could work. Anyone that made it past the front person with a banned item was told to put it in a locker, and was also given some sort of card. A few people returned to the same spot in line, so I'm not sure if that's what the card was for. One guy yesterday was not having it after being told to put his fanny pack in a locker. He was MF-ing the poor girl just trying to do her job, and security needed to get involved. It's a shame people need to act that way.
  19. Amusement parks are not sports teams. People that live near KI can still go to and fully enjoy SFMM.
  20. This looks really good, and I'm just glad we're past the days of other Cedar Fair parks building their coasters a few feet shorter than Cedar Point's for the sake of a dumb record. I can't wait to get back up to CW and ride this thing.
  21. That building used to house the frontier carousel from 1972 to 1994. From Wikipedia, a 1921 Dentzel wooden carousel with 50 jumping horses, 12 standing horses, 4 menagerie animals (1 deer, 1 giraffe, 1 lion, 1 tiger) and 2 chariots. It was purchased from Lansing, Michigan and moved to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in 1995. The carousel building still stands in Frontier Town and is used as a haunted house during HalloWeekends. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
  22. I hope it's still open in a couple weeks when I'm there, but I'm all for floorless conversions to better the quality of a ride. I think standups have long since run their course and should be phased out, in my opinion. Vortex/Patriot at CGA is probably the closest comparison, and that's extremely fun as a smaller, more compact floorless. I've been wondering if/when we start to see Six Flags convert their standups also. It's only a matter of time I'd guess, but makes an interesting decision for the parks that already have a traditional floorless in their lineup.
  23. I've wanted to see RMC try a vertical loop on one of their original creations if the logistics would work out, such as weight of the trains and effect on the structure, etc.. I guess KI would be the place to do it if they're ever going to.
