  1. I don't think SFNE will replace Twister with anything big. It's a pretty small pad that's out of the way. SFNE has never shown much interest in replacing the rides it removes... if the empty pad isn't blatantly obvious a replacement seems really unlikely.
  2. I hope they announce that they're taking the new Goliath train, melting it down, burying it somewhere on the other side of the world and then salting the earth so nothing will ever grow there. ... But essentially confirming Iron Cyclone would be cool too.
  3. I would hope they would keep that cave entrance and just demolish the ride building... I would think that would look awesome as an entrance to a haunt.
  4. One thing to remember is that a lot of people from all over the country were probably at the park to ride Goliath. In most parts of the country nobody would know what a tornado siren was if they heard one or what to do (though heading for a building would be common sense if it looked like it was going to storm even though if it were a serious Tornado a building wouldn't be much help). As someone from New York I would have no idea what the siren was for and with a ride bringing in people from all over the country / world I would hope they would have clear instructions either over a PA system or from employees like Cedar Point does.
  5. Agreed.... I just checked some POV's to make sure. El Toro is close but just a little longer (I'm counting the turnaround after the lift but before the drop as ride time) so I'll go with my #8 coaster overall... I305 which is barely under 45 seconds based on the TPR POV.
  6. My girlfriend is much shorter than me (I'm 6'4' and she's about 5'4') and we both agreed that out of over 200 coasters we've been on Green Lantern is the worst coaster we've ever ridden that's still in operation (Viper at Great Adventure was the worst). The head banging is amazingly brutal and the last drop feels like being uppercutted by a boxer. I don't think height is a factor... the luck of how you spin may be but in my opinion this ride just sucks.
  7. That would make sense, but the problem is that the Skyride and Windseeker were open while all of those rides were closed and they always close before anything else when it's windy.
  8. I really wish they would make up their minds with the rain policy. It looks like now there is a very light drizzle in the park with light winds that aren't even strong enough to shut down the Skyride or Windseeker. Based on the webcams it looks like Dragster (makes sense), Gatekeeper, Pipe Scream, Raptor and Blue Streak are closed. MF and Gemini look like they're closed but you can't really tell. Maverick and Mantis are open. The biggest problem with this rain policy isn't even that it's completely stupid and reactionary, but that there is no consistency at all. Mantis seems to be the only coaster that never closes due to rain (unless it's a complete downpour). Is there anyone that understands the reasoning behind this (and I'm not talking about the page on the Cedar Point website that's totally wrong about the rain policy).
  9. And they just put it on the live video cam.
  10. Did anyone notice that the slingshot just completely shot up overnight? Edit: Tony Clark tweeted out this picture of the ride being constructed last night.
  11. Classic Wood Coaster Arrow Mine Train Classic Arrow Looper State-of-the-art B&W wing coaster Hybrid Arrow racing coaster (once the tallest coaster in the world). Arrow suspended coaster Arrow hypercoaster (once the tallest coaster in the world and the world's first hypercoaster) B&M Stand-Up-Coaster Intamin Airtime machine with a lift / launch and beyond vertical drop A huge wood coaster An Intamin giga coaster consistantly voted the #1 steel coaster in the world by the Golden Ticket awards (yeah I know but that's still impressive... once the tallest coaster in the world and the world's first giga coaster) B&M Inverted coaster A huge 120 MPH strata coaster (once the tallest coaster in the world and the world's first strata coaster) The world's tallest Intamin Impulse coaster A Vekoma family coaster A classic Kiddie coaster (I believe this was Intamin's first coaster) Let's not get into a debate about what park has the best coasters, but as far as "coaster diversity" goes please enlighten us as to what park has a more diverse coaster collection than Cedar Point who now has 16 coasters (or 17 if you're a whore who counts Gemeni twice, lol). Magic Mountain is out of the question given your criteria because they'll be down to one wood coaster soon. Maybe Canada's wonderland? If you count the family coaster they have 3 wood coasters to go along with their SLC, Volare and Togo Stand Up. They also have 2 B&M megacoasters so that's not very "diverse". Great Adventure only has one wood coaster so they're out... I'm lost on this one. I'm not trying to be a fanboy and claim that Cedar Point has the best coasters because I'm not doing that, but complaining that Cedar Point doesn't have a diverse enough coaster collection for you just makes you look insane.
  12. So the Tonight Show is basically an hour long advertisement for Universal and Diagon alley tonight. I can't imagine how much that must have cost Universal but they're really raising the bar when it comes to marketing new theme park attractions.
  13. The article says the train was stuck for hours, not that it was stuck with riders on it for hours. Very sneaky wording. In any case the ride seems to be running right now. EDIT: From reading through a few other sites it sounds like it was less than 2 hours but during that process they were evacuating people so most people got off faster than that. Everyone on the train was given: -$50 In gift certificates to come back to the park -free pizza & click fila -free park tickets - 3 skip the line passes Take this with a grain of salt obviously as it's second hand information but this has popped up on a few sites.
  14. It's nice to hear that the park was allowing re-rides. I don't know why they don't always do this when nobody is in line for your row. Great Adventure does it all the time.
  15. I'm loving these updates but hating all of you because you're going to all of these parks while I'm at work.
  16. Who in their right mind would ever think that was a good idea?
  17. Keep in mind that El Toro most likely costs a lot more to maintain than X Flight does. The initial cost doesn't tell the whole story... but that doesn't change the fact that we need more Intamin wood coasters.
  18. Great pictures from a park you don't hear much about. Tsunami Soaker looks a lot cooler than I thought it would.
  19. Lol hopefully its a joke Nope. I think it's completely legitimate and not sarcastic in any way, shape or form.
  20. Sometimes I swear I'm riding a different Thunderbolt than everyone else is. This ride has always been awesome regardless of what seat you're in which is very rare on an old wood coaster. It's just amazingly smooth and a lot of fun but I see a lot of posts about how it's rough (not from you) or boring. I'm not exactly putting it on my top 10 list but am I the only one that loves this ride? And I agree that the SLC has a cool layout but they're just way too painful for me to enjoy them.
