  1. I love this trend of more and more parks running coasters in the winter. Screw you winter, after the last few years we're tired of your crap and we're not participating anymore.
  2. El Toro since it has to be a coaster, but if I could pick any ride then it would be either Demon Drop or Falcons Fury.
  3. If you tighten the seatbelt then every seat is a good seat. I love the ejector seat but the very front may be my go-to on Magnum.
  4. For the record I've never waited longer than 5 minutes for food at Holiday in the Park. Anyone wanting to avoid lines...Panda Express is well staffed and the Waffle place was brought in and isn't run by Six Flags. I like how you posted that and within less than a half hour there he is with a reasonably qualified answer. #nerds Lol that's why I asked Ryan. He's cool like that.
  5. My guess would be the first weekend in May. I just hope they get their big new ride ready for opening day, it's crazy to think they haven't even started construction yet.
  6. I have a question for the experts out there (aka I have a question for Ryan). We're thinking of going Saturday but they're calling for 18 mph winds gusting up to the mid 20's. Combined with the forecast for the low 40's... What do you think the chances of Nitro operating are? Knowing this park I would think they'll try to open it but based on our experience on opening weekend where it's a miracle it didn't valley and they ended up closing it for the day after maintenance thought it would be a good idea to send a train with no water dummies in it. I only ask because the reason we're going again is that we're making a family trip this time and we've convinced my mom to go with us but Nitro is basically her favorite thing ever and I'd hate for it to be closed. Unfortunately Saturday is our only chance to go. Is that generally enough wind to be a problem? I believe it was windier opening weekend and I know the forecast may change but that's pretty damn windy. Then again aside from that day you never really hear of Nitro closing for wind.
  7. We were in the area yesterday so we made our first ever trip to Christmas Candylane. We got there at 6:00 so we only had 3 hours but at the low price of $18 a person, knowing we could park at Chocolate World for free we figured it was worth it. Rides weren't really the priority, the only thing we knew we wanted to ride was SooperDooperLooper which we rode first (about a 50 minute wait). Great little coaster! After that we saw the Noel show, saw the reindeer and walked around looking at the lights. The only other rides we rode were the Whip and Flyers since we were in the area as they were loading with no lines but we had a fun little visit. I'm glad they opened Wildcat even though it sucks because the chaser lights looked great, the 12 days of Christmas area was cute and we really liked the lights in the Hollow. The Noel show was very impressive and overall the park had a very fun atmosphere. I wouldn't suggest making took long a trip for Christmas Canylane but if you're in the area I recommend it. It was a fun few hours, I really wish they'd open up a few more coasters though. Holiday in the Park to me seems like a much more complete event.
  8. The biggest testament to Cedar Point's lineup is that people don't even mention Magnum, a Hypercoaster that's really, really good. This is the only park anywhere with an extra Hypercoaster nobody remembers is there.
  9. Agreed, and to be fair one of those B&M's is Raptor which doesn't fit in with the stereotype of forceless B&M's because it's old and was built back when B&M was awesome.
  10. From after 6pm yesterday... It's beginning to look a lot like Fright Fest... Holy crowds!
  11. The turn into the mid course on Vortex shouldn't be allowed to exist.
  12. Millennium Force is very reliable... Maverick and Dragster are very temperamental though.
  13. Marathoning implies they stay open for more than a couple rides at a time.
  14. So it's going to be almost 80 degrees in Charlotte this weekend, as far north as New Jersey and in every park around Carowinds (Dollywood, SFOG, BGW) people will be flocking to the parks. When is Carowinds going to get with the program and have another holiday event? I can't believe they haven't re-visited that idea yet.
  15. You know what's strange about Hydra... everyone criticizes B&M for their lack of originality but to their credit they absolutely broke the mold on that one. Jojo roll out of the station, small straight drop, no vertical loop, no dive loop, the first three inversions are all basically variations of a barrel roll, the first element isn't even an inversion... The coaster isn't anything amazing (though it is fun) but it is a very rare exception to the cookie cutter B&M formula we usually see. I give it some points just for that.
  16. Dominator in the back row is great, I love Batman the Dark Knight's zero g roll and I'm a big fan of Kraken but believe it or not I'm going with Rougarou.
  17. That's just the most "Cedar Point" thing ever. I wonder if they cancel staff meetings due to high winds too.
  18. I mean, that's fair. I put Phoenix above El Toro because of the fun factor. El Toro is certainly the best coaster I've ever ridden, but Phoenix is my favorite. Obviously I seem to be in the minority and everyone is entitled to rank coasters however they want but if you find Phoenix to be more fun than El Toro then why would El Toro be ahead of it in your rankings? Is it the intensity of the ride, its reputation in the community? I don't understand it but I'm curious and I think it's an interesting discussion. With me "fun factor" is all that matters but of course everyone is different.
  19. These are good ones as well. Those are 2 of the most surprising moments on any coaster anywhere... I'm always incredibly surprised that a coaster is capable of sucking on such an unimaginable level. By the way, speaking of headchoppers I think my favorite is either Fury's helix or the bottom of Gemeni's first drop.
  20. I actually agree with this 100%. I really like these little coasters.
  21. I thought I was a complete nerd, thank you for making me feel better about myself.
