  1. There are no current plans for the old Inn at Presque Isle sign. It does not meet current zoning codes, so it can only be used as is with little modification. It's beginning to deteriorate quickly as some pieces of the trim around the sign face have fallen off, but who knows if that will sway any plans for its future. In my opinion it's an obtuse eyesore, and should be removed in favor of something that fits the landscape nicer. The current codes do not allow for a sign as tall as the current one, but anything on that mostly barren corner will stand out and look nicer than the current structure.

  2. Anyone who enjoyed that vid should definitely check out Tom's channel. He's consistently one of the most engaging and informative youtubers out there and he covers a ton of interesting stuff.

  4. They did shut off that dang mid course. That's part of the system upgrades for Mamba. I visited last Tuesday and the mid course brakes didn't engage at all. To tell you how fast it's running now, you get solid airtime dropping off the mid course even in the front row. There were some rides I had on it just a year or two ago where the back didn't even get airtime on that drop. I've always liked the ride even when the midcourse made it feel like it would valley on the return run. But now, it's an excellent ride outside of that whole "physically cannot run more than one train" bit.

  6. Nearly all S&S and Intamin towers have had secondary seatbelts for 20+ years. It's nothing new and will not affect the ride experience a single bit, and likewise won't really affect operations either since it clips to the outside. It's a no-brainer move in my opinion.

  7. TeacherKim... It was very "cool" and breezy that day. They loaded the test trains with sandbags. We had cranes and wench's ready in case it valleyed. The first train went up and around and then whoosh- all the way around at an awesome speed. Everyone on the platformed was in awe. The construction crew cheered for 10 minutes. The concern was cresting that second hill. It was 'scary" back then because of it's size. Now - to me- it is just awesome fun. Somewhere along the way My Dad was given an Eagle Head- used on the sides of the trains. I still have it... it's pretty cool still. The other day I found old name tags- my Six Flags watch and my Eagle Belt Buckle for 1976.

  8. Another in the 1966 birth year club. Don't think I'll ever tire of riding coasters. Worked at the park for 4 summers. Now call America in DC home, so don't have any sympathies for SFStL woes. You have the best collection of wooden coasters in the chain. But, I can ride up I95 to Great Adventure for my elite fix. Along with a whole set of other parks. I think the whole chain is kind of lost. After the total fail in Season pass sales last fall following giving away the gate for one year and now a list of options that confuses the most seasoned park goer. Coming out of the pandemic last fall they had the opportunity to have a clear strategy and totally re-invent where they wanted to go. They missed it and now they are trying to figure it out. Can't believe they can't keep the water park open all week in the summer. That is a huge PR hit and loss of revenue opportunity. Need a national movement to get all the high school/college students in summer jobs to help bring back the economy. I have so many valuable lessons and stories from working in the park. Oh, well I guess I really am old talking about the good old days! I did ride the Eagle opening year, remember the sky ride and Casa Meramac the original Mexican restaurant. Time to figure out which park to hit next!

  9. Count me in for loving the "new" Beast as well. It's running SO well based on my rides this weekend. Even the wheel seats were totally fine! It really climbed up in my woodie rankings. And, of course, the night rides are superb. I will also say that Orion impressed me too. Objectively it is probably my least favorite Giga among the 4 I've ridden (the 4 in the U.S.) but it's still a very good ride. I am 100% convinced that if this coaster was located anywhere on the West coast (or really anywhere other than Kings Island) it would receive entirely different reviews.
