DoinItForTheFame
^ Those turns look AMAZING! I still can't get over the scale of this project. It's MASSIVE!!
caleb.stone
Once finished do you keep this project as a permanent installation? I'm curious the time frame on how long these last, especially with how much effort has gone in already!
chaos
I move around a lot (and I get other ideas I want to build). However, I have put more time into this than any other model. So I'll guess that this one will be up for about 6 months once completed before I tear it down.
chaos
Working on a little track and a lot of theming. Getting the sound to work was a lot harder than I wanted it to be.
JG-77
I’m going to agree with what others are saying and tell you that this thing looks awesome! I can’t wait to see more progress! At this point, what would you say is your best guess for completion (give or take a few months)?
blk_mamba
Just recently discovered this thread. This looks amazing. Most of us just use a computer game to simulate what we want to create, but I applaud you for the working on a physical roller coaster. I am enjoying watching you build this ride, and I am very excited to see the finished project. Can you tell us more about your vision at far as the ride/show elements or are you planning those as you go along?
chaos
^^ Optimistically, I hope to have the track portion completed by November. The automation, theming, and other effects will take at least another two months. ^Thanks! I have a general outline for what needs to happen at each ride section, but the details happen as I build. In order the show scenes will be: 1) Right out of the station - Boba Fett will give you directions. 2) Ferris Wheel lift - you will encounter one of two characters on your way up, depending on whether you're in an Empire train or a Rebel train. 3) Switch track - you will have an encounter with some sort of creature as you switch from moving backwards to moving forwards. 4) Throne room (pre-launch area)- you will see what happened after the Throne Room scene in the Last Jedi 5) Just before launch - Darth Vader encounter The final scene will take place in the slow turnaround section I just built in this video, before the track drops and twists back to the station. chaos
Thanks! Been working on the Ferris Wheel Lift. This is a kind of complicated and slow process, so please bear with me.
DoinItForTheFame
^ That is FREAKING AMAZING!!! So awesome to see you being so creative and thinking outside the box with this project!
chaos
^Thanks! Back at it this week. Still battling the complicated workings of the Ferris Wheel Lift.
DoinItForTheFame
^ It is so impressive to see the Ferris wheel lift operating!! Keep up the great work!
chaos
Unfortunately, after months of tinkering, I couldn't get the ferris wheel lift to do exactly what I wanted reliably. However, I think I've found a great new solution.
chaos
The elevator is working pretty well! Watch to see how it works!
chaos
The elevator is now fully functional! I'm super excited, as I can now go back to building the actual coaster!
chaos
Small, but satisfying update this week. The elevator is in place, and functions very well with the coaster.
chaos
Track is going up fast now! I re-profiled the end of the ride and built an inclined dive loop.

chaos
A slightly more nerdy update this week - I've developed some weird contraptions in order to create a pseudo "block brake system." I actually thinks it's pretty cool.
chaos
I have installed a top hat! One of the final elements!
jlp94
Wow I can't wait to see the final product. This is easily the most detailed and unique K'nex coaster I've ever seen, what a fun project!
chaos
^Thanks! It's been almost a year, but the circuit is now complete! I'll still probably have to tweak a few things, but it's working pretty consistently for how complex it is.
chaos
The heavy theming has begun. I've mostly finished the first big show room scene. Enjoy!
