robbalvey Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Hey everyone! I could use some help testing out our video streaming pages. I've got all the "park videos" on this page done: http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/video.htm All the ones on the left hand side should now stream when you click on the link. It will take you to the video page, stream the video in your browser, and there is still a link to be able to download the video to your hard drive. I think this basically gives everyone what they wanted! Can you please try it and see if it works, and if you are having any problems, please let me know. Screenshots are also very helpful! Thanks! --Robb
rollermonkey Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 On a related note, Robb, would you like me to try to edit down my Eejanaika video and post it, will you post it for me, or can you resize it to fit under 30mb? Thanks!
robbalvey Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 ^ I will resize it for you, it will just have to wait a day or so as we're currently having some issues with uploading larger sized videos. But I'll get to it I swear!
socalMAN123 Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Yay, I don't have to deal with the slow uploading of zip files anymore! ---Brent
rollermonkey Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 That's cool, Robb, I realize you are pretty busy dealing with the aftermath of Fantazy Land, Midwest Wood, E3, Tatsu Campout, as well as getting ready for the TPR UK trip! By 'mentioning' that you have the video here, it's like blackmailing you into helping me share it with the world! What software do you use to resize video? Maybe I have it and don't know or can obtain it and start filling up the Amateur Video board with my stuff!
Erik Johnson Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 That's cool, Robb, I realize you are pretty busy dealing with the aftermath of Fantazy Land, Midwest Wood, E3, Tatsu Campout, as well as getting ready for the TPR UK trip! I just use Windows Movie Maker, you can adjust the size of the file to whatever you like it to be.
Wes Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 The streaming vids won't play back if they are posted on the forum. The ones that have their own page play back fine. This occurs in both Firefox and Safari. Can any other Macfags see if this is the case on their end as well? Here's what I see.
Wes Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 ^ Ok, ignore that partially. The video is there, but for some reason the size of the video is formatting incorrectly, so it's cutting off the tops and bottom.
robbalvey Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 ^ Do you have IE on your mac and does it work with that? I'm not sure if PHPBB's attachment mod supports Firefox or Safari. --Robb
Wes Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 ^ No, IE doesn't exist for Mac anymore. I guess us macfags will just have to download the vids, no biggie..
rollermonkey Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I was able to resize the file using Windows Movie Maker (Thanks, Erik) but I'm getting an error when I try to upload the file.
CoasterCrazy Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I'm using Fire Fox and the video is formatting correctly. However, the player is just smaller than it is while using IE. I love not having to download videos anymore!
kenshinmac Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 ^ No, IE doesn't exist for Mac anymore. I guess us macfags will just have to download the vids, no biggie..Um I don't have any problem with the videos... Oh and just so everyone knows I'm not a Macfag... I'm a MacUser... Thanks... BTW I have my PC for games... But thats about it... Probably won't ever do that again now that I can use Bootcamp if I ever feel the need to have Windows on a Mac... So goodbye crap PCs...
Wes Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Oh and just so everyone knows I'm not a Macfag... I'm a MacUser... Thanks... It was a joke, dude. People who are gay for their mac = macfag. Haha.
robbalvey Posted May 19, 2006 Author Posted May 19, 2006 Hey I used to be a macfag too! --Robb "Who still owns a G4!" Alvey
kenshinmac Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Oh and just so everyone knows I'm not a Macfag... I'm a MacUser... Thanks... It was a joke, dude. People who are gay for their mac = macfag. Haha. Eh call me sensitive or whatever... I take enough crap from most PC users to start having things like that associated with me for being a Mac user... Strange thing with the videos though is that they seem to load in the Flip4Mac Quicktime plugin. I don't really understand why that is since they appear to be MPGs. Perhaps there is some code that tries to invoke WMP? Maybe it is something with the files formatting... I dunno it just seemed really strange to me. The upside is though that I don't need to download twice... I can just rightclick the file and save the file. Oh yeah and Robb I am on a G4 Mini right now... I really do want to get a MacBook though...

I don't really understand why that is since they appear to be MPGs. Perhaps there is some code that tries to invoke WMP? Yeah, that's what seems to be happening. I looked at the code and it wants to invoke some Microsoft ActiveX control scheme. People who don't have Flip4Mac or any WMV component installed aren't going to be able to see it properly, even though it's an mpg. Like Robb said, this is probably because of the phpbb script that allows streaming, and not the actual video file itself. Also, macfag macfag macfag.
robbalvey Posted May 20, 2006 Author Posted May 20, 2006 Ok, I've gotten through the first half of the "coaster footage" videos on the right hand side: http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/video.htm Also, I've re-arranged everything so they are slightly easier to sort through. Let me know if you have any problems or have a comment about it. --Robb
Jon Sabo Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 Damn, I need to find time to take some video editing classes and learn more on posting vids and so on..lol I have about 10 videos to possibly post, but I'm not tech-savy in the video/editing department..lol Some vids that I think peeps would like: 1. Original BBW @BGE TESTING and opening day (remember who the guest presenter on opening day was? hmmm...Vincent Price) 2. Original DF testing and pre-commercial (CAD), AND a time-lapse vid of construction as well as a Dana Carvey interview (he was guest speaker opening day). 3. BBW riding without! trim brakes (last hill).....not many experienced this wolf when that was in action! 4. Kumba-time lapse construction vid (w/Mark Rose int.) and Opening day ceremonies with Drew Carey & Michael Richards (Kramer-Seinfeld) antics/jokes/interviews. If anyone has ideas/suggestions can email me! Great job to the moderators and crew as always...the unsung heroes that keep this site going!
the sound Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 I'm glad that i can still download them with the zip file, but it think haveing a streamed version is really good, because i can see the video before i download it!
