I had hoped to go to the Tatsu camp-out but things didn't work out and I was *stuck* with a flight for these two days. Why give up when I could just still head out to SoCal and enjoy a few parks. Well.. that's what I tried to do, hoping to visit Knott's on Wednesday. Of course, that would have happened had my rental car company not screwed me over, so instead, I took a shuttle to Magic Mountain and called TUMZ. I spent 2 hours there, it was dead, things were closed and I was tired of it so I left at 5 PM, went with Elissa somewhere and ended up eating dinner with them. Robb and I then screwed around in chat, picked on elissa and I helped him with suggestions for the spindel. Most of which can be documented here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24616 So onto the photographs, which were taken by my mom's less-than-quality camera because my flash doesn't want to work and it needs to go to the shop.

um... YAY!?!

heh and for a second I confused the Men In Black training center for LAX.. silly me

First thing I rode was Viper, my favorite of the megaloopers. This ride ate my cell phone, took in through two cycles, and yet still spat it back out usable! Insane, really. Oh and the ride is still decent but not great.

Yep only 1 train today.. but on Thursday, they eventually put the 2nd one on, even with at most 5K in the park!

You suck.

Psucklone was closed.. oh well I dont get to ride the crappiest coaster ever IMO

DV was closed... boo, I like these rides

So I went to ride the Scramlber and it was pretty slow but actually had a decent cycle. Oh, and this is where I saw two dudes jump out of the ride at half speed because the op wasn't paying attention.. not that he would have known any better ::rolleyes::

Over to Riddlers' packed queue for a few stay-on rides. Still my personal fav Stand Up

Hey there's the threaded loop!

$9 and change but it was pretty good - good enough so that I would buy this more often since I consider it a "safe bet" as opposed to, say, Mooseburger.

Decided to get a new credit on the way out Wednesday.. Canyon Blaster. At least I didn't get totally blanked on the trip

Glad they cleaned up for me

Yay parade + dorks taking photos

Just wanted to point out that of the ones pictured (if you can override the crappy Olympus quality), Ninja is the best and Revolution was closed.

Elissa's former avatar, slightly modified.

Again bypassing the quality, you can see two of the TPR tools.

Off to the lucsious tropical paradise that is Goliath.. fun ride that Eric seemed to love which was cool

Next up, STE. Still amazing that we hit 100 mph

Finally up to Ninja, a really fun ride 8)

I could sooo ride right now and be number 26

Xperience the Xtreme Parking Lot coaster

I actually like Scream but I'm not crazy about it, and yea it definatley boxes you around more than it's predecessor Medua (weird!)

Psyclone has a nice.. um... color, yea, nice stain on the wood!

We went back to Papa John's on Day 2, still a well-spent $9 IMHO.

We then rode Jet Stream, yay another new credit for Joe!!

I want a Pepe @ SFOG!!

Eric was a brave man and rode the Round-up

But that just meant that we were closer to Batman, which is always cool by me

We then went to ride Collossus..

Oh wait, not that one, the wooden one

We rode the yoyo

.. and the swinging ship of sex!

Ohh and then we heard/saw the parade coming, and it actually wasn't that bad (certainly not as bad as the one at SFOG)

We eventually made it to the lamest car ride ever (I hate electric ones). We rode Canyon Blaster for Eric and made our way to Log Jammer

Not sure if this is wet enough for dan..

How long till the Tatsu models end up at my homepark too?

Patch jacket starter kit. I bet it comes with a 1 year ACE membership.

I finally got my chance to go Xperience the Xtreme and it was still pretty fun with some really insane stuff going on, but that 2nd raven turn really does want to kill someone.

Elissa showed up and we went to ride Batman

Exclusive shot by yours truly

Bastards.

Bastards.

Meanwhile, over at In-n-out

Awesome.

That concludes this trip. Two good (yes, good) days at Magic Mountain that give me 4 days in the park and none of which were really all that bad. We got to ride 11 or so coasters with many of them re-rides in 2 days, plus half of the park's flats and more. Longest line might have been Colossus because of 1 train on 1 side but even it wasn't too bad since we had Flash Passes. Two trains ran on many of the rides, which was nice, and the staff in the shops was nothing but nice to me. Ride ops.. well, most of them were indeed pretty much without any motivation at all, but eh you win some you lose some. I'm bummed I missed out on Knott's and stuff but oh well, I will be back one of these days and it doesn't look like any of those coasters are going anywhere.

Oh yea I forgot one pic..

glad to hear you had a great time. What did you think of the opening ceremony in the morning?

Posted

I really liked it - it reminded me a lot of the stuff they did at Disney. Good crowd interaction and the people seemed to really be getting into it. I also liked the fact that even with such a small crowd they still ran the ceremony. The "actors", if you will, were well cast and seemed to enjoy their jobs a lot. It was nice to see everyone getting pumped up rather than just talking amongst themselves while waiting in line.

Nice TR Jow, glad you had fun even though the camp-out screwed you over. What happened with the rental car?

Nice work changing Elissa's profile, I never knew she was a 19 year old guy...

Posted

Yeah, is it bad that it took me like 2 days to notice I had become a 19 year old man!?!?

Sorry I couldn't hang out more Joe, stupid work! Anyways, see you in a few weeks on the UK...oh wait...

Of course, that would have happened had my rental car company not screwed me over, so instead, I took a shuttle to Magic Mountain and called TUMZ

Isn't the rental car age in California 21? I think that's the reason you got shafted by the rental car company

^ LOL, actually, Robb's burger wasn't animal'd up enough to truly gross out Elissa

Yes, the age is 21, but a few weeks ago I called Enteprise and asked them since I was planning on using a corporate account - usually this is fine since you are travelling for business (or at least that's what they think ) and they just make you pay the extra fee still but when I got there, upon asking for my license, I was turned down. I should have expected it more than I did, but still to talk to someone on the phone and already have a reservation... darn.

I had a lot of fun playing Elissa and really wanted to play around witht he custom user titles but now I realize why it takes her a while - it's kinda complicated plus I didn't actually have her password Oh well she is still anxiously awaiting her rides on the coaster with the backslash

Don't worry elissa I still had fun at that place you took me... but I held back on the photos (only because they were low-quality, lol)

Oh and LOL, I got edited by Robb, I must have crossed over a line

Awesome TR dude! Sucks you had to miss the campout, but you really did make the most of what you had! And I'm glad to see that someone knows their standups!

Sorry you did not get to go to Knotts maybe the next time you come back to ca. Seems like you had a pretty good time at MM at least there was not a ton of people. Dont feel bad about DEJA VU I have been to MM a bunch of times and only rode it once! I was wondering was the sky tower working I have not been up in it since the 1980s and I assume Flashback was closed, I heard Shapiro was going to have all the closed rides operating by summer the monarail included. Thanks for posting pictures of your trip, and I have to agree I love Ninja I wish they would give it a new paint job.
