Well, I just rented some of the Tom Baker episodes of this series from the 1970's, and I have to say, this is the kind of show that grows on you. Sure, the effects are laughably dated, but it's wildly imaginative.

It'll be interesting to see how this new incarnation of a franchise that's been in Britain since 1963 works out.

The First episode of the new series The New World was awsome.

Very clever idea on how to kill off cassandra (i wont say anything to spoil it before its aired in america )

And i must say i am looking forwards to A Tooth And Claw who would think of a werewolf in dr who.

Well, I didn't mean an appearance-wise resemblance. I just read that the cybermen are actual humans who fitted robotic parts over their decaying bodies, and I guess they go around making other certain men into Cybermen (Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not terribly familiar with all this show's aspects)

That just sounds a lot like the Borg to me.

Ok, heres my take on New Earth:

Decent episode, lacks the bite of "End Of The World" from last series (the first apperance of cassandra, the skin sheet) but a decent story nontheless. David Tennant as The Doctor, who, is a self admitted "who" fanatic since childhood, injects the 10th regeneration with some much needed humor and fortitude. I have a feeling Tennants turn as the Last Timelord will be one of the most remembered.

Hm.. So I watched it..

I didn't like the Cats. And the bit where one falls down the elevator shaft was a bit crap.

Next week should be ace though. Gonna love Queen Victoria. I love how they've kept it very British. It's hardly been americanised at all.

A question to all you Dr. Who fans on this board. Which actor who's played the Doctor would you say is your all-time favorite?

Having just started looking through some episodes, I can't really make a judgement, but Tom Baker seems to be the perrinial favorite among enthusiasts. He certainly had the longest run of all the doctors...

Though I've heard other opinions...like Peter Davison was pretty good in his short run, and some even say that Colin Baker was never really given a chance, a victim of sub-par stories, and an even worse outfit.

I saw a clip recently of Cristopher Eccelston's doctor regenerating into David Tennant. In that brief moment, it seems to me that Mr. Tennant is trying to channel a little Tom Baker into his performance. Whether or not that's a good thing remains to be seen.

I like Tom baker, besides the fact he was an eccentric, he also had some of the best writers in his series(Terry Nation, Douglas Adams). But I also enjoyed Sylvester McCoy in his brief two series run. Chris Eccleson was a great bridge, but I would've rather them ran Paul McGann as The Doctor.

So you're aunt is Vicki? She appeared in William Hartnels' third series, that unfortunatly, was destroyed by the then non-forward thinking BBC...something about how video tape and film at the time was expensive and keeping a record of early programs wasnt an agenda.

I just rented some more old episodes at Hollywood Video.

"Ghost Light" from the Sylvester McCoy years.

"Twin Dilemma" and "The Two Doctors" from the Colin Baker years.

"Earthshock" from the Peter Davison years.

There's also plenty more of the Tom Baker years available, which I'll get to in good time.

It's funny, because until now, I only knew Tom Baker as the guy who played the evil magician from "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad"...I had no idea that he was the same guy who played the longest running, and it seems the all-time favorite of the Doctor's incarnations.

Great episode tonight that werewolf was awsome and is it just me that thought that The opening was very matrix style.

good storyline and could be considered one of the scarier episodes of the season espeshally for littler children.

i thought that the telescope when they had the camera looking at the celing the CGI was crappy and very easy to tell it was CGI.

And i must say horray K9 is on the next episode and he looks as crappy as ever

Bring on School Reunition.

and im not shure if this is against the forum rules but after every 3 episodes i will upload them a in a collection of rar files for everyone to enjoy.

I enjoyed last nights episode but for some reason Rose really really annoyed me throughout.

I expected to dislike Billie Piper's character when I started wathcing series 1 but I didn't - however, last night she really grated on me.

Ok..just got done watching "Tooth and Claw". One thing that the series (esp. during the Tom Baker era) has performed well is victorian gothic horror, and this ep. is no exception. Great setting, plotline and tie-in to Torchwood. All in all, decent ep.
