Thrasher Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Yup, I know I just did an IOA PTR a few days ago, but im doing another because, well, I live on Orlando and I have season passes! Anyways, today was my first day ever going to Seaworld here in Orlando. I havent been to the one in CA since I was younger, so really Im not going to do any comparisons. I started off the day going straight for Kraken, and im glad I did. I was one of the first in the park, and even walking briskly, there was quite a line by the time I was exiting. It was only one train operation, and I was hoping they would add another, but when I returned later, they still only one train with a long wait. BTW, what the hell is this supposed to be????? After my rather cold and windy ride on Kraken, I decided for some crazy reason to try out this Atlantis ride. Read again, cold and windy. I had no idea, so I proceeded to stupidly sit in the front row. I basically might as well have just hopped in the lake. I got so wet from the tidal wave coming over the front of the boat, I was freezing for the rest of the day. As for the ride itself, I was VERY dissapointed. The effects were horrible, and the whole thing reminded me of some sketchy fun house at a state-operated carnival. I guess it did its job though. I then proceeded to the Budweiser facility near the back of the park, which was actually very nice. It was empty because it was still the morning, but it was open so I got to walk around and read the history of Budweiser. They also have some impressive hardware on site. I decided to take some home for tonight. They also had a whole stable where they had several clydesdales(sp?) and yes, even the famous donkey! Then I hit up the Shamu stadium. Even though I didnt wait around for any of the shows at the park(I had class), I still walked down to the underwater viewing area. *Construction Update* I also walked by the new addition for this/next year, Shamu's Express. Absolutly nothing seems to have happened since Westcoasters update, but for the sake of being thurough, I submit this picture anyways. I then proceeded to the Wild Arctic exhibit, whch IMO was one of the best themed attractions in the park. Even though the ride simulator was a little cheesy and the film was poor, the 'arctic base camp' was really well themed, with a lot of details. They did a great job with blending the theme into the enviornments for the animals. There were also some very informative and very attractive women at each enclosure to answer questions you might have. Attractive women and beer? Im starting to like this place! (sorry for the blurry picture, its fairly dark in the building, so pictures didnt come out well. The place is awesome though) After that, it was time to head home to get ready for class. I was dissapointed in not being able to ride the Sky Tower, but the winds had picked up and they had closed it down after running all morning. But whats that? I spotted something that looks familiar.... Guy wearing TPR shirt! I didnt stop and say hi because I have no idea who they were, and they were with several friends, but it was funny to notice. Anyways, thats all from Orlando. -Thrasher
Thrillrider15 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Nice photos. The Kraken is my all time favorite coaster.
PhishyBrewer Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Thank you for visiting one of the fine Busch Adventure Parks. Did the stock price go up yet?
SharkTums Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 HAHAHA!!! I love getting people to sit in the front row of Atlantis!!! They start laughing when they don't get wet on the bottom of the first drop, and I just smile and wait!
niiicolaaah Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 HA! Now I know where NOT to sit, if I ever make it down to Sea World!
ShadowLink79 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 HAHAHA!!! I love getting people to sit in the front row of Atlantis!!! They start laughing when they don't get wet on the bottom of the first drop, and I just smile and wait! I rode the back, and while we were going up the lift hill, all the excess water in the boat flowed to the back... I had wet shoes all day Nice pictures, Thrasher!
SharkTums Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 ^OMG! I forgot about that experience!!! Luskus and I sat in the back, only to have a plugged drain! When we started up the first lift hill all the water poured into the back seat...but it didn't stop at our shoes. The water came all the way up to our seats, to the point I was worried about drowning!!!! It was also Ice Cold being that it was January! We reported it to the ride ops, but they didn't seem to care. Advice, sit in the middle rows on Atlantis!
Slacking Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 3rd row is perfect!!! Rode the 3rd row a few weeks back and left the ride with an acceptable level of wetness (a few splashes here and there but nothing too bad)
