martinb Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I have a Samsung Digital camara, I can transfer the pictures to this computer fine but I can't upload them to this site because they are bigger than 150kb/mb or what ever it is, is there something I can do about this? Loads of you have uploaded your photo's from your digital camaras but I can't!! Why is this? PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!
Carnage Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 If you are using Windows XP get the image resizer power toy. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Then right click the file, choose resize images. Select a size like small or medium. That should shrink the files to a small enough size. Or you can use any photo editor to shring the image.
martinb Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 I just resized an image on Microsoft Photo editor but it hasnt made any difference, they are still to big, and if i go any smaller you wont be able to see it
Carnage Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Try the WinXP power toy that I mentioned, or do you not have XP? Or try even opening it up in MS Paint and cut the size in half until the filesize is small enough.
martinb Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 I do have xp but I'll have to try it on friday as I'm off to Alton Towers in a minute, I am taking my camara so hopefully I'll have a little trip report, I do already have a trip report ready of Thorpe Park but Ican't sort the pohot's out! Hopefully I'll get it done on friday!!
sixflagstloldschool Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Paint Works real well. Edit image in paint , when open click on image and select stretch skew I will usually reduce down to 50 percent and that will allow to post, change only Horizontal and verticle with the same number, then save as a different name so you wont change the original file. Check the size of the file and make sure you post with a allowable extension and you should be good to go.
martinb Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Could someone do me a favour, theres a topic called "Stealth at Thorpe Park", on the last page I've uploaded some videos of Stealth from my camara, please could someone download one of them as I need to know wether they work or not!! Thank you very much
CoasterFanatic Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Paul, I am so out of touch with Power Tools that I never even knew that the resize plug-in existed. That thing is pretty sweet and will save me a ton of time. Thanks!
ParkTrips Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 http://picasa.google.com/ One day google will rule the world.
Carnage Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 ^^ Yeah, it really comes in handy. Takes like a couple minutes to resize a huge batch of pictures. Highlight the entire block and it does them all at once. ^ Picasa is kind of cool. However unless I've missed something it doesn't change the file itself. So any corrections made to a picture are only viewable in Picasa itself?
ParkTrips Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 You can export them and change the size and stuff -I don't use it much myself, but it's something free if he doesn't have the built-in thing for Windows. It does take a little getting used to though.
phazan Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Martinb, when you resize photos they look really small when you are resizing them, but when they get on the forum I notice they turn out bigger. Make them around 650X650 pixels and that should be big enough to see, but small enough to get on the forum. Tell me if this helps.
robbalvey Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 If you are using WindowsXP your machine should come with MSPaint. Open up your picture in MSPaint and use the "stretch/Skew" tool. Try reducing the horizontal and vertical sizes by 50% and see what that does to your file size. --Robb
