BrownStreak Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I am a good uncle I think, but I never know what to get my neice for her birthday or Christmas- my nephew is easy- he likes trains. I have thought about adopting any animal at the zoo for her birthday- you get a stuffed toy version of the animal with the adoption- would she be old enough to appreciate this gift beyond just the stuffed toy?
DerekRx Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I think its a good idea, especially if you can pick the animal to adopt and it happens to be an animal she really likes. My 8 year old cousin just likes Bratz and gawdy makeup and fake fingernails. But adopting some cool zoo animal is a unique thing. If nothing else, she should like the stuffed animal, at least until she gets a little older and understands exactly what you did.
BrownStreak Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 You know I had thought about doing this a year ago. What made it come back into a thought is that this past Christmas I know she wanted animals for the Little Pet Shop (Boys- hee hee) or something like that- so I got her a frog and a bird and I thought it would be cool to get her a real wild animal!
Hattuchili Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 That sounds really nice! I think it would be a cool present for a 8 years old girl! --Sören
disneygurlz2s Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Hey Brown, Is she eight?? I didn't think your post said the age, but others were talking "eight".... I have a almost 8 year old daughter and the Littlest Pet Shops are her world. However, I think your idea is very cool, and actually, I was just explaining our Zoo's ADOPT program to her recently, as we found my certificate for an animal adoption while cleaning out a room at my mom's house. I was in my late teens or early 20's when my siblings adopted our Zoo's flamingos for me. I didn't get a stuffed animal though.... The neat thing is you can take her to the zoo this spring/summer to "visit" her animals! Shari "You are a great Uncle" Shoufler
AznShortBoi8021 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Get her a pet lobster. Those are fun. But seriously, get here a cool looking Barbie doll or something. Maybe a dollhouse or an Xbox 360 with some cool shooting game rated M
FlyingScooter Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Art supplies are always good. Does she like to draw or paint? The adopt-an-animal is great idea. I she allowed to have a hamster or gerbil? When i was 8-9 i had gerbils. Loved 'em!
BrownStreak Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Disneygurlz, Yeah her age is mentioned in the sub-heading for the post. She will turn 8 this May (don't ask me the date- I'm not that good)
