What's up guys?

Just got through with filing taxes and it looks like my girlfriend and I are in fact going to Southern California in May. I know a lot of you members live in the area and maybe you could help out, or suggest some changes to what we already have planned. This will be my first time to the state so any tops will be appreciated.

We are flying in on Monday, May 15 from Providence to LAX. All we're doing on this day is driving to our hotel in Castaic, and if time permits, visiting SFMM hoping to get rides on at least Tatsu and X.

Tuesday, we're spending a full day at Magic Mountain, hitting the secondary rides and anything we liked from the previous afternoon/evening. On this night, we are driving to our hotel in Beuna Park as the park closes early.

Wednesday, we will be hitting Knott's Berry Farm. Think one day will be enough time? I'm trying to figure out how crowds will be this time of year.

Knott's is supposed to be in walking distance of our hotel. (Day's Inn Beuna Park) Anyone stood there? Is it moderately true?

Thursday and Friday will be spent at DLR. We will be buying a two-day park hopper, spending most of Thursday at DCA and Friday at DL since it's open till midnight. Which rides get the longest lines at the two parks? I'm really looking forward to the Indiana Jones Adventure but I hear the lines can get massive. Any tips?

On Saturday we will be flying back to Providence. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated, especially in regards to how the crowds are/are kids in school, ride closures etc. Thank you very much for your time.

I live nowhere near California, and have never been there at that time of year. However, I'd say 1 day at Knotts is more than enough time to ride all the coasters. I'm usually there so briefly I don't even have to pay for parking!

The rides at DCA that get the longest lines are probably Soarin over California, and at that time of year, probably GRR or California Screamin depending on how many trains are running.

Over at DL, the longest waits will be most likely Space Mt, Autopia, Roger Rabbit, Indiana Jones, and maybe Splash Mt.

If I were you, I'd switch and do DL on Thurs and DCA on Friday, followed by more DL after DCA closes on Friday. DL is always more crowded, and a Thursday would be the better day to go there.

DerekRx is absolutely right...Thursday is a much better day to do the Magic Kingdom. DCA is not a full day, and judicious use of Fast-Passes will make your trip much more enjoyable. Soaring, GRR and California Screaming are always the longest waits at DCA. At the Magic Kingdom, make a beeline for Space Mountain and get Fast-Passes. Was just there in Feb. and Space Mountain had given out ALL of it's fast passes for the entire day by noon. The stand-by time was 2 hours, and that was on a Thursday. Splash Mountain is right behind. When you go back on Friday night, make your way to the central hub and avail yourself of the fireworks show...non-coaster related I know, but it's the best they've done in many years.

So far, the rides and attractions you will not be able to ride are:

Blue Bayou Restaurant

Golden Horseshoe

Pirates of the Caribbean

Mullholand Madness

It's a bummer that you will miss Pirates seeing that the ride will be down until June. Mulholland Madness is probably just getting a refurb before the season officially starts. I might head down to DLR on that Friday to get in some sweet night rides and shows. Something you defenitly don't want to miss is the fireworks. Let me just say, they kick some serious arse.

^Pirates might be out of commission until June, I think (but don't quote me on that). Disney is doing an upgrade involving AAs taken from the upcoming movies (that is, Jack Sparrow and Barbossa), along with some other enhancements.

Disneyland Resort:

Make sure you get to the park before it opens. The first two hours of the park's operating day are usually dead. I remember previously getting on almost every major ride in the park during that time. And after the 10 PM Fantasmic, the park is dead. All of the families have left, and the park is empty.

Knott's Berry Farm:

One day at Knott's will easily get you on every ride in the park. You might even get some rerides. I think the longest wait I've had on a weekday at Knott's was 30 minutes for Ghostrider. Most likely, you'll be fine.

Six Flags Magic Mountain:

Don't trust me with information here, ask R&E.

As I said earlier, I might head out to DLR Friday late afternoon into the night. If I run into you, that'd be pretty awesome!

I don't think crowds will be a problem. Most kids will still be in school in California and your going during the week. Late afternoon and evenings will see an incease in people. Disneyland will probably be least busy on Thursday. Use the Fastpass and you should have more then enough time for both parks.

I think both Tatsu and X will have long lines unless you can get there at opening. X doesn't have great thru put and Tatsu will be the new kid on the block that everyone wants to ride. Be prepared to wait that first day when your not there at opening.

You know, Knott's has a special $22 price for admission after 4 pm on those days it's open past 6 pm.

I'ce decided to switch the days around a bit thanks to these tips and the ERT event at Magic Mountain (which I had no idea was even going on!) This is what I'm currently planning...

T May 16- Fly in to LAX from PVD, Drive to Buena Park Hotel (Knott's later)

W May 17- Full day at Knott's Berry Farm

T May 18- DLR then DCA

F May 19- DCA then DLR (open later)

S May 20- Drive to Castaic Hotel (late SFMM entry)

S May 21- ERT Event at SFMM

M May 22- Drive to LAX, fly out to PVD

If anyone's going to be at the parks any of those days, or the ERT event at SFMM lemme now. Thanks for all the help.
