Jim Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I will be visiting SFKK for the first time this summer on my way to Holiday World and Beech Bend. I was not going to count Greezed Lightnin' as another credit since I had already rode it as Viper at SFOG. I see on Screamscape that they are replacing the loop with the one from Tidal Wave (PGA) in which I have never rode. Maybe I think too much but would you consider this another credit now?
Shockwave Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 In my book, no. Since you already rode it at Six Flags Over Georgia, you've already got that credit. Relocations of coasters don't count for me, because it's still the same ride you're going on, just nmoved somewhere.
TheGreatOne Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Steel coaster track is replaced on older coasters every now and then, and no one every counts it as a credit. Heck, it happens a lot on wooden coasters, and sometimes whole sections of a ride can be overhauled for various reasons. More often than not, we never see the replacement because the ride is inside the park when it's closed. In this case, Greezed Lightnin' faces the road, so it's easily visible. I would say it is not another credit.
SharkTums Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 This is the first I've heard of this rumor... Are they really replacing the loop track with the one from PGA? That seems really odd! Gosh that does make it a tough call. You're getting like 1/16 of a new credit. I'm gonna have to be the bearer of bad news here and say NO, not a new credit!
Jeezus Juice Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Credit questions aside, they're replacing the loop on GL, WTF?! Seriously, that doesen't even make any sense, I'm confused. As for the coaster, I count relocations (although I've only been on one) but I don't re-count ones that have off season work done to them. Unless they end up all bent over like stupid V2. Bent! -Don "Replace the loop? WTF!" Garrison
pgathriller Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I wouldn't count it as a new credit. And also, didn't they repaint the Greezed Lightnin" from PGA. Is it the same color as the one at Kentucky Kingdom? If not and they replace the loop they will either have to repaint the loop to go with the coaster or repaint the coaster to match the loop. It would be odd the have a part of a coaster not mix with the rest of it.
TheGreatOne Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 It's the same color. They better hope it was disassembled properly at PGA or the loop might need to be duct taped together! -Bryan "only in Kentucky" Wood
pgathriller Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 The Greezed Lightnin' from PGA sat in pieces in that parking lot for years and I heard that it was vandalized and some things were stolen. I wonder how useful it will be for spare parts now. * Also, what ever happened to the shuttle loop at Astroworld? I haven't heard anything about it. It's still in working order and I would hate to see it go down for spare parts.
