Gregory DG Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 They're talking about it on Fox News right now. It's probably not that bad... At 4am there was a tornado warning near me in Winter Haven. They said it was moving towards "Cypress Gardens airport." Not sure what airport they're talking about. CG doesn't have one of it's own. Hopefully CG didn't sustain anymore damage. Animal Kingdom. Universal. People running in the rain.
Imhotep Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Did they say exactly what damage was sustained?
Hercules Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I'm sure it couldn't have been that bad of damage. I was really worried when this was a Category 5, but luckily it weakened a good amount. I just hope it is nothing big and everything will be fine with the parks.
Erik Johnson Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Holy Cow! It was pretty nice there yesterday.
robbalvey Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 (edited) Yeah, I'd like to hear the REAL story from someone other than the "Media" I got some IMs from people who are still in Orlando today and they said the storm that rolled through wasn't very bad. A couple of downed trees, maybe some small signs, but when they IMed me at noon Florida time, it had pretty much all passed. --Robb "Who, if we had listened to the media hype this weekend, we would have never gone and had a great time in Orlando!" Gregory DG Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 Did they say exactly what damage was sustained? They didn't really go into detail, so I'm guess that means there wasn't very much. Looks like mostly superficial type stuff (garbage cans knocked over and such) and some possible water damage. Funny how the Animal Kingdom shot shows one of the lanes open. Gee, it'd suck to be a Disney employee and have to work in a frickin hurricane!
Imhotep Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Yeah, I'd like to hear the REAL story from someone other than the "Media" I know, right? The weather hasnt been to bad at all in the Orlando area. Its been a little windy, but the worst of the rain stopped early this morning. Id like to see this 'destruction' first hand.
ChrisZer0 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Robb, Its Fox News, do you expect any less?? Their whole business is sensationlism and they seem to do a pretty good job of demonizing everything and everyone they think is a threat. I talked to my friends in O-Town....they stated it blew through, knocked over a few trees, rained and that was it. nothing major. Chris "Call Me Ollie Williams" Zer0
robbalvey Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Just got word that Disney has re-opened. Good for them! --Robb
