Coaster Palooza
Gyendolynne and I went to SFMM and KBF last year in October and we had a great time. We decided to go at the same time this year. The parks were great and they weren’t crowded again. X wasn’t running, but oh well. :? I contacted Robb to see if they were available to meet up with us. It turned out that both our schedules would work out. We drove down on Saturday and arrived at SFMM around 4pm. The park was crowded, so we left the park and met up with Robb and Elissa for dinner at Wana Iguana. It was a new place for all of us. The margaritas weren’t too bad, but the place wasn’t what I expected. After dinner, we went back to their place for a “Director’s Cut” of the Europe DVD. Nice commentary by both. We planned on meeting up the next day at SFMM, so Gyendolynne and I headed back to the hotel for the Jacuzzi. The park wasn’t crowded at all (not anywhere near what Saturday was). We went right to Goliath because X wasn’t running. There were a couple guys there that recognized Robb and Elissa. One of them was Xtreme from TPR forum. Here is their pic that Elissa took. http://www.themeparkreview.com/sfmmnew06/current.htm We rode Goliath a second time and then headed over to Scream. We saw Xtreme and his friend there again. All of us hung out the rest of the day. We were able to ride everything except Superman. By the time we got up there, it was shutdown. We all left the park and headed for some Italian food for lunch. Dan met up with us there. The place was Papalino’s. They had the Steelers game on. Friggin’ Maddox! Thanks so much R&E for hanging out with us! We left after lunch for KBF. The hotel in Anaheim was incredible. We were right across from Angels’ Stadium. There was a ball game there that night. National Sports Grill was right next door to the hotel. We went over there to watch the end of the Bronco game and have a few beverages. The place was really crowded and there were quite a few Bronco fans there. Gyendolynne had a couple jell-o shots. The reason I bring this up is because you get a raffle ticket for each jell-o shot you have. They were raffling off tickets to the Angels game. We thought hey, who knows? We won the tickets to the game and headed over there (walking by the way). It was sprinkling a little bit, but it didn’t really bother us. Once we got there, I saw John Elway. I pointed him out to Gyendolynne, since she is a Bronco fan, and she walked by him, said hi, and he said hi. She was really excited and it is on tape. We stayed there for a few innings and then headed back to National to see the rest of the game. Too bad the Angels lost. I can’t begin to tell you how great that hotel was. We were on the 9th floor and could see Disneyland. The next day we headed to KBF. Just like last year, the weather forecast was for rain. It has rained every time we have gone to KBF (once in April, twice in October). The park wasn’t a crowd at KBF either. We rode everything we wanted to ride and decided to take a ride on Ghostrider before we left. This was a stupid move. The ride beat us up so bad. Everyone’s on-ride photo had them grabbing their heads, or looking like they were in serious pain. I wish I could have gotten a picture of that. My head hurt forever! The drive home was the adventure of a lifetime. Most everyone that lives in SoCal knows that the rain on Monday was terrible. Driving in it was absolutely insane. The streets were flooded over the grapevine. I couldn’t even see anything a couple of times because of the rain and the flooding. I was just glad to make it out of there without an accident, or worse. We made it home safe though. Onto the pics! My friend, Ted, on the leftfield foul line. He had the plate on Friday. Scoreboard and waterfall. View towards homeplate. Our seats, not the greatest, but we were in the park. That is where our hotel is. Walking up to the ballpark Another shot of the bar National Sports Grill was crowded. Our view of Disneyland. You can see Tower of Terror on the left. Another pic of Angels' Stadium Full shot of the living room Living room Room shot A few room shots coming up National Sports Grill just below us. This is much better than looking at the freeway Here is our view from the room This is looking straight down This is a real blurry shot, but I thought it was great to see from our hotel room door. The entrance, as we are leaving. Ninja Riddlers again Riddlers Yeah, the gate is open. Hey, we know you two! Waiting to get in. Sunday, Day 2 and the parking lot is....NOT FULL!!!! No one was walking by this until we decided to take a picture and then people stood right there looking at a map as I stood waiting! Fright Fest continued More Fright Fest set-ups One of the Fright Fest moments happening. This was just outside of Gotham City
Coaster Palooza
Pictures continued OH, so the wipers clean the windshield....I get this now. Continuing with the rain The drive home. This was before the grapevine, but just as bad. Another shot of this fast B&M Silver Bullet Into the Jail Gyendolynne. Ghostrider....OUCH MY HEAD! Gyendolynne 2-Fisting! Look out for the spider! Calico Mine. We rode this and they had all the Haunt stuff covered up as we went through it. Top Hat Xcelerator was running great and there was no line! More Halloween stuff. Haunt during the day. Not that scary. The ride op on Silver Bullet walked up to the car because someone was carrying their cell phone. They actually stopped the car on the lift hill to do this! Back to National. The guy in the Konerko shirt was rooting for the White Sox and the other guy to the left in the black hat was not too happy about it. Security came fast to stop any fight from happening. This was right in front of us! Always good wings. Hooters in the ballpark The weekend series In between innings Centerfield View from the rightfield side. A better picture of the centerfield waterfall
Canadmos
Great trip report and pictures! OH, so the wipers clean the windshield....I get this now. lol! That is one of my pet peeves, when people I'm driving with wait until they can't see to turn on the wipers
Token Yankee Guy
That was a great TR. I've had a similar situation on the wooden coaster, Thunderbolt, at SFNE. They stopped the train on the lift hill so that an ride-op can come out and take a camera from someone. And this coaster isn't like superman where I've seen that done before too. CoasterEricHP
Great TR! Poor Angels.. Anyways, at Dragons we used to be very strict abouto cameras/cell phones because we didnt want anyone to drop something at a duel point and hit people on the other train. Not really sure what the deal would be on Silver Bullet though! Everytime I ride Storm Runner and you go over the top hat there is alwayyyssss loose change "floating". Poor Robb and Elissa are at near celebrity status! Eric
